We're on the 12/27 Eastern (19 more days!!! )!!!. After having our third cruise planned now for over 18 months, we're down to the wire:hyper:

All our plans are made and confirmed, but my one BIG fear now is snow. We live in Philly and as luck would have it we got hit with our first big snow (7 in where we live) on exactly the same date we got hit last year:( :.

Anyway, if this pattern holds, there's a chance we would get another snow storm on Christmas day:eek: . Since we are to leave for the cruise for a 6 am flight on the 26th, this has me a bit concerned:earseek: .

What should we do, if it looks like snow the day we're supposed to leave:confused: ?? With the airports getting so backed up, even leaving a day and a half early may not be enough time to make the ship.

Anyone out there have any thoughts, suggestions, experiences??? Our previous two cruises were in August, so we have no experience with this sort of thing.

HELP!

Thanks - and happy holidays!!

Michele

This will be our third December cruise, on the first one we flew out the morining of and I was a wreck worrying about storms (there were none) on number two we booked for the day before and the day before that was a HUGE storm. I was in a mini panic but it all worked out. We did leave for the airport (which is about 40 mins away) about three hours before our flight, mostly incase there were accidents delays because of the snow. I plan to do the same on friday. Our flight is at 11:15 and we will leave here at 7:45 drop the dog at the kennel and head towards the airport. There is really nothing you can do except book to fly a day early in the winter. The way I figure it is than the airlines have 24 hours to get you to your destination instead of just five or six. Try not to worry, even with this past storm the airports were running the next morning. You already have booked to go a day ahead so you should be fine :) Have a great time!!

Can someone tell me exactly what happens if your flight is cancelled because of the weather?

Do they follow their regular schedule of flights and try to fit you in somewhere else or ..........?????how does that part work.

If your flight is cancelled due to weather, they try to get you out as soon as possible. However, this could mean that you miss your cruise!

Call your travel agent and discuss your concerns. IF you booked your air along with the cruise and got travel insurance thru Disney, your trip will be re-funded or re-scheduled (your choice). If you booked your air separately, it is your responsibility to get to the port on time. You will not get a refund for bad weather unless you have taken out private travel insurance.

You might find the peace of mind well worth a day or two in Florida before the cruise. There are very inexpensive but decent hotels near the airport (range of about $30 on Priceline!) Do a day or 2 in the parks or at Sea World. You really need to talk to the travel agent about your options for moving your flight up a day or 2 or whatever your other options might be.

Thanks, Ann and kcashner.

Appreciate your responses. We booked air on our own and the cruise through DCL, so I guess we're on our own if there are flight problems.

Well, I guess I'll just have to watch the weather carefully the week of the cruise. If there's a hint of snow, then make a judgement on moving the flight to Christmas day or evening driving/taking the train south then picking up a flight.

Hopefully, the worry is for nothing - but better safe than sorry!!;)

Thanks, again

Think Positive NO SNOW. We are leaving NJ to drive to Fl Christmas day in the pm so I will be hoping for decent weather as well. If you hear of a storm approaching check withthe airline they may accomodate you to leave earlier without penalty if they have availability especially if you are willing to travel on the actual holiday.
Good Luck and have a great cruise
