I'm pretty sure I've seen this here before, but can't find it via searching. Basically, my kids' computer has been invaded with somekind of malware called 180search assistant. I've used adaware, norton AV, and trendmicro, and still can't seem to get rid of this nasty. I've tried a google search, and all I seem to find are forums with people with similar complaints, or with hyper-technical explanations of what the program is. I've also search both symantec and mcafee, and neither had any information.

If anyone can point me in the right direction on getting rid of this program, it would be much appreciated!!!

TIA!
BK

Use a program called CWShredder, I believe it's able to get rid of this particular piece of spyware.

I'll give it a shot, syracuse--thanks. I'll let you know how it works out.

I would try Spybot, it gets rid of a lot of parasites. Good luck.

My friend had this on their system. Use Spybot search and destroy, it should find it.

I'll try spybot next....cwshredder didn't work. *sigh* Thanks for the suggestions!!

Is there a weird search assistant in your add/remove programs list? I switch to view by date and look for recent additions to the list for ones that neither DH or I added intentionally. If you find it there you can remove it.
