180 days for ADRS!!!!!

So my trip is planned for May 1-May 8 2010. Would that mean the 180 mark be from the date of my check in....so 180 days from May 1st? If so I think that would make it about Nov 3. Do I have to call back each day to get the rest of my dates or can I do them all on the 180 day?

As long as you are staying on property you'll get to make all your ADRS (at least 10 days worth) starting on your 180 day mark. :goodvibes

If I did the math right you can call on Nov. 2nd.

I think 180 is silly, just my opinion. I happened to be awake and home at 90 days so I called at 7am. I like to get our slots, but not going to focus my day or stress about getting the ressies. I made mine this time in less than 15 minutes and haven't changed one. I added one about a month ago when our flight plans were firmed up. Seems many book these ADRs far in advance then stress about them and change them left and right for the next 5 months. I just can't be bothered...lol. There are lots of good places to spend TS credits at WDW.

I've made ADRS 4 times for WDW never as far out as 180 days. Always happy with what we've gotten. I can't see my behavior changing much.

I don't think the "focus" or "stress" is a function of how many days out you can book necessarily. We're on our 4th Free DDP trip & I like the 180 vs the 90 and have always booked at right around the 180 mark. I have only changed an ADR once in 4 years. I know where I want to go & plan accordingly. You, apparently are like that too. But, no matter when the booking window opens, some people just like to make changes. I don't think it happens any less at 90 days.

Oh ugh.

I thought 180 days out for ADRs was insane before, I think 180 days out for ADRs is insane now. Thank goodness for quick service and off property dining - that is way too much lead time for me!

I can't believe they went back to this...which I am happy about...oh gosh...less stress...

but this Summer was stessful doing 2 trips and having to do the 90 day wake up and call asap think:scared1:

well...I am glad it changed back...now I will be making dining ressies for our next years trip in Oct...wow !!:goodvibes

oh gosh...thats right after our trip....ugh...more planning;););)

and I have to add that honestly I think it makes it less stressful...I don't think things will sell out as fast. not all people are like us and have vacations planned a year in advance:cutie:

I much preferred the 90 day route. We are DVC owners and we usually book around Nov or Dec for April - May period. Making the ADR's at the 90 day mark was sufficient.

It really isn't necessary to book 6 months away. Yes, I understand the want to plan and get excited, but you can do that at the 3 month mark, too. At 90 days more people are firm in their plans and wants.

I am so happy!!!!:cool1: I love booking at 180 days - makes me feel the trip is getting closer at long last!!!

I don't mind 90 days out but I'm excited for 180. Our Disney wedding is in April so I'll be able to make all our ADRs for our wedding and honeymoon trip in October! One less thing for me to stress about closer to the wedding!:thumbsup2

Just my lowly opinion here, so please, no one take offense.

I think this whole action is utterly ridiculous. It almost borders on being selfish, as in hording something. All it accomplishes is closing options for folks trying to make realistic reservations; i.e. within say 30 days of their stay.

If someone really feels the need to make ADR's that far out, then go the Cali Grille route - charge a non-refundable $25 fee per reservation at signature restaurants, and $10 charge at the other TS restauraunts. If you change even the time of your seating, it becomes a new reservation, and you get charged again. The fee is automatically deducted off your final table bill.

Okay, now who is willing to book a reservation that far out?
Me. That would not be a problem for me at all at 180 days. I could likely do it at 11 months.

My vote is with 90 days. I also don't like trying to figure out where we are going to eat 6 months in advance. I haven't read through all the posts so maybe someone else has come up with a theory for the change .... but I think it so Disney can lock in people to make a reservation for their trip. I have known for months that I wanted to go to Disney in Dec but I am just now making reservations and firming up my plans. I figured there was no hurry since I didn't have to make my dining reservations.

I'm sure there's a whole huge debate going on over this, but I just heard about it and had to pop by and say :cool1::thumbsup2:banana::woohoo::yay:! Yay!! I'm one of those crazy 'happy to book dining 6 months out' people. Good news for our '10 trip!

I could do that-- and my trip is not for another year yet.

I know where we want to eat and what day. (times are flexible-- either lunch or dinner-- whenever-

I'm glad to see it going back to 180 days. It gives DVC owners, and other loyal Disney freaks an advantage to booking early. As for not knowing where you want to eat 6 months in advance, I don't know where I want to eat tomorrow, so it is just as tough for me to make a decision at 90 days as it is at 180 days. By being able to book at 180 days, I can get the places I want, with out "competing" for those tables with people who book later. This change won't help me this trip, as my 90 day window will hit in September, but I'm happy for everyone who can take advantage of it. I do feel for those of you whose 90 day window falls on Oct. 27, though....talk about getting the short end of the stick...

Although all the people calling about the 3 month "hell" period on Oct. 27 will still be competing only with the same folks that they would have if it were still 90 days, and the choice ADRs shouldn't go any faster. Same is true for the people whose 90 days falls on Oct. 27.

The big issue will be getting through, and it will be hellish. Once in, though, it should be no different because of the change.

Cheers.

I liked the 90 days; however, I'll deal with the 180 days. Only thing I'm happy with is that it might make me getting the Chef's Table @ V&A easier for my Feb trip ;)

Actually, no.

The people who had 90 day windows starting on Oct. 27 will be competing with everyone who has a reservation within the next 6 months.

But only for access to the phone agents. People starting their stays 90 days from Oct. 27 are staying in late January. Only people staying at the same time compete for the same ADRs. The people staying in February will also be able to call on Oct. 27 with the change, but they want ADRs for dates in February. So, no ADR competition for the January folks....just phone lines.

Unless I'm missing something obvious- wouldn't be the first time :)

Cheers.
