I just heard that this group exists. I have a 19 year old daughter with autism. She is developmentally 5. She LOVES the kids clubs but has aged out. Can someone tell me about this group and how it works?

My son has gone to this twice. They meet up and socialize.

I know they played cards in Cabanas a few times and went to the Tube at night as a group to watch the shows they just don’t drink .

Few break off and do their own thing after an ice breaker thing.

It’s all freestyle so different each cruise. Mostly it is to get that group introduced to each other. No real structure.

The first night everyone interested in getting the group going meets with a DCL CM who facilitates the group. They talk about what sorts of activities they want to do while onboard and set things up.

It's not really a structured group like the kid's clubs, but it's fun. Our son did it on one cruise. They went to the show in the adult club most nights. They did a veggie derby (sort of like the Pinewood Derby, if you know what that is), produced a little "what I did on my cruise" video, and generally "hung out" around the ship. Sometimes they went to the late, late movie. One day they had lunch with an officer.

My daughter went to the 18 20 group on our last cruise. There was a participant with autism that hung out with the group. My daughter said many in the group went out of their way to make sure everyone felt welcome and was included. The mom of the kid with autism was almost in tears when she saw how nice they were to everyone.

Does anyone happen to have a Navigator that shows how they notify us of the first night meeting? I have seen Navigators with the blocks showing something that is planned for the 1820 group but for some reason I can never find the initial meet up notification. I am traveling with 3 children in this range and I am insisting they at least go to the meet up (because I have heard that is when they decide what they would like to do) but I can't seem to find how to find out when that meet up is. Thanks for your help!

I don’t have a navigator handy but I think the initial meeting is the first night around 10pm. My 20yo enjoyed his group on our most recent trip.

From the first day's Navigator (on the Magic)

You can also ask at Guest Services where/when the meet up will be.

It's great. My daughter and the rest of group ended up getting together extra a couple times during the cruise. There were also a couple times that my daughter was the only one who showed up for the late night activities and she got to hang out with the CM and do whatever was going on at the time.

Truthfully, my 19 yo missed the frequent activities they have for the younger teens. On our cruise, the 1820s met up outside of Navigator 1820 events for other scheduled adult events such as trivia.

toy: you and your daughter can visit the kids' clubs / labs uring he "Open House" hours.
