Hello, all!

Since so many issues are being discussed regarding the Fantasmic Premium Seating experience, I thought I'd share our June 17th experience.

Since I had no recent clarification from anyone regarding the check in time change implementation, I decided to bite the bullet and try to be the "first in line", no matter when the check in began. BTW: ALL of my documentation (my tickets, my Fantasmic VIP receipt, and my printed itinerary from GCH) stated that there would be a 7:00 pm check in. So, going with the documentation I had, I was in line by the Churro cart podium by 6:00 pm and yes, I was the only one there. :hyper:

I didn't know whether to expect anyone else that early or not, but I was glad when the next ticket holder joined me around 6:20 pm. We had both been given the same information regarding 7 pm check in (it was on paper for both of us). We had a very pleasant conversation and I thoroughly enjoyed meeting her, so I felt my time was actually well-spent! :)

By 6:45 pm, the line had grown to about six or seven people, all of which had been told check in would begin at 7 pm. However, there was still no sign of any CM or any podium. Right at 7:00 pm, out came a CM with a podium. He set it up and set up his "ropes" and we patiently waited, expecting him to check us in as soon as he was finished. Around 7:10 pm, he announced to all of us that check in would begin at 8:00 pm and BOY, oh BOY, there was nearly a mob uproar! Everyone started chiming in with their "story" of who told them 7 pm and who had what documentation. He looked at our paperwork and, once he studied my documentation, especially the receipt that came with my tickets and the tickets themselves, all of which said to check in at 7 pm. He attempted to explain that the "new" policy is 8 pm check in, but he would try to call a manager to ask about it. Five minutes later, he said he could not reach his manager, but, due to the actual wording on our documentation, esp. the tickets and the receipt, he decided to go ahead and check us in at that time. :cool1:

FYI: I purchased my tickets exactly 30 days prior to the 17th show, so, I'm not sure when the wording will have changed on the tickets and on the receipts. Even though I purchased on May 17th, I'm sure the tickets weren't actually printed until we arrived to the GCH (or just prior to that).

So, here's the bottom line: We lucked out that the CM was willing to check us in and I would not expect that to happen each night. The new rule is, in fact, check in at 8:00 pm. The problem is that the CMs not working directly with Fantasmic (such as GCH Guest Services and the Vacation Planners) are still not aware of the 8pm check in change and are still telling people to check in at 7pm, which is causing many people to be unhappy. :(

My review:

Yes, I had to stand in line and play the waiting game, but I wanted so much to have the Fantasmic VIP seating to be a highlight of our trip that I was willing to play the game. I'm VERY glad I did, because we had the best seats possible (1-3 -- no one was in #4, so we basically had a full row)! The view was unbeatable and unforgettable! Our server was excellent and went out of his way to accomodate us. Although it is not mandatory, we tipped him at the end of the evening. Although I did not even get to open my dessert box until later that night, long after the show (I was filming during Fantasmic and the Fireworks!), I, for one, was very happy with the dessert box and the value of "what we got" for our money. The food in the dessert box was fresh and there was a good variety of foods. I was pleased with the quality and the taste of the food. :thumbsup2

Overall, the Fantasmic Premium Seating was definitely a highlight of our trip and we will absolutely take advantage of it again in the future. I also would wait in line all over again so I could be first in line to get those excellent, unobstructed seats. It was definitely a positive, memorable experience for us! ::yes::

Although the VIP experience doesn't appeal to everyone, it was well worth our time and money!

I hope this review provides useful insight! :) :goodvibes :)

Thank you for your review. I'm doing this on thursday and am really looking forward to it. Thanks again!

How much is the premium viewing and what comes in the dessert box?

Just wondering as we will be there in September and I was wondering whether this was worth doing?

If you planned on waiting from 6:00 to watch Fantasmic couldn't you have staked out a front row seat in the regular viewing area and saved yourself $70 per person? Isn't the whole point of Premium/VIP seating that you don't have to wait around for 2 hours to get a good view of the show!

Where exactly is the seating? I really miss the "old days" of the VIP verandah/dessert buffet.

Yes - you can get similar seating at that time IF it is not peak season. You are basically paying for a chair, the desserts and breathing room. The free seating by the riverfront is tightly packed. I don't think it would be easy to 'save' space so your entire party would really need to be waiting with you most of the time. With the premium seating, only one person in the party loses the time. I recently went to through this check-in time mix-up and I really had mixed feelings about the whole experience due to the inordinate amount of time waiting for the cost of the tickets. The rest of my family, however, who didn't wait (and I didn't let my frustration show) greatly enjoyed the experience and it was one of the highlights of the trip for them.

ty for the revew we cant do it based on money and based on they look to be shut down in oct. but we will do it Next dec 09. i wish it was still the balconey and buffet but im sure ill love it and ill be first lol even if i have to wait two hours early

For what it's worth...we have done this checking on time, and also turning up just before show time (yes, ignoring the rules altogether!) On both occasions we had excellent seating for a group of four. In fact, it has caused me to wonder why we bother checking in early at all. Presumably the CMs already know the number and size of groups coming, and I am confident they are not about to give your seats away entirely. All the seats have good views, and there is flexibility in the arrangement of seating - they can move chairs around to suit, so it's unlikely you would have to be split up. Nor should they split you up if you arrive near show time - you have already prebooked!!!

Also - there is not really much point in coming along to check in really early - the preferred seating is for a relatively small number of people (my guess is less than 50). Ten minutes would be adequate.

It makes absolute sense to me that they are moving the check in time up - it would be smarter if they just took it to 8.45, - then you could just sit happily for a while if that was your preference.

Of course, all of this would be extra good if clearly communicated through all staff!

It would be interesting to hear the experience of other renegade non-checker in-ers...maybe we were lucky, but I do think, as per an earlier poster, that part of the cost is convenience - it is a little tiresome to think you have to queue for a a experience that is in part desigend to avoid it!

Hi everyone, normally im a HUGE lurker and almost never post, but I guess I have a very different review of the Fantasmic Premium Seating.
My dad, brother, and I did this on Friday the 14th of June and had tickets for the later showing of Fantasmic (10:30pm).
I actually called about 2 or 3 days earlier to see if they just happened to have any seats left for Friday or Saturday, and they did! So I was told for 3 adults the tickets would be $177. A little expensive from the explinations i had read on previous posts, but fine it would be a nice little addision for my dad's father's day trip. We were told to pick up our tickets the day of, and to check in at 8:00pm (even though we were late seating).
We picked up our tickets the day before and once again they told us to check-in at 8:00pm on Friday.
So we head over around 7:30pm and there was already a HUGE line!! We waited, and once we finally got to the CM who was checking in, she informed us that we could choose where we wanted to sit. I think we sat in seats 83-85, but not positve ( a second row of 5 chairs in one of the multiple seating areas). We were told to check in AGAIN around 10:00 :headache: but ok. We returned at almost exactly 10, and there were multiple lines... one for each seating section (super confusing if you dont remember which lighting tower you were told to go to.. oops). Finally we find where we are supposed to be and are seated in the second row behind a family of a mom, dad, and 2 teenage girls and next to a father and adult son. :crowded: As we were seated we were asked what we would like to drink from a choice of soft drinks, water, coffee, and hot cocoa; and handed our dessert box.

I was dissapointed with the desserts, maybe its because I am a super picky eater, but I dont think that the food was up to my expectations for Disney food. There were grapes, assorted cheeses and crackers, a cheesecake, a brownie type thing (didnt taste like chocolate until you got to the fudge in the middle), a macaroon, a chocolate covered strawberry, and one more dessert that im not sure what it was since i didnt try it.

The show started not that long after and let me tell you how amazing the show is!!!! oh, wait... I didnt see 95% of it because I was staring at the shoulder and back of the man's head in front of me. I couldnt see anything!!!! However, what I did get a glimps of was the side of the stage and the barges carrying characters passing. I did take a picture of our "view" before the show started, now mind you this was me standing up and zoomed in (I also appologize for the horrible picture but hopefully it gives you an idea)

Overall, I was extremely dissapointed in the "premium viewing", the selection of desserts, and the price that was paid for the "VIP" experience.

Overall, I was extremely dissapointed in the "premium viewing" . . . and the price that was paid for the "VIP" experience.

I completely understand and would feel exactly the same as you, had we not been fortunate to get our front row, unobstructed view seats due to my lining up so early (we knew we were paying mostly for the seats, not for the dessert boxes!).

If we were not able to be assured that we would get the front row (by my waiting in line for over 1.5 hours), like we did, we would most likely not pay the money to do the Fantasmic Premium Seating. We had a positive experience, simply because all of the pieces of the puzzle fell into place for us and because I was willing to stand, all by myself, by a lonely pillar, for over an hour and a half, hoping that I was, in fact, in the right place to be the first to check in! :confused3

I'm sorry to hear that your experience was the opposite of ours. I hate spending hard-earned money on something that simply is not worth it. :(

Yup, I would have LOVED to have an experience like yours!!! I too am one that usually gets some where very early to ensure that the experience is the best possible (like getting the perfect spot in front of the castle 3 hours before fireworks while my boyfriend went on Space Mountain 4 times, of corse only for the fireworks to be winded out :rotfl: ) But with my brother and dad in tow.. that didnt happen this time. And as for Fantasmic VIP I can only imagine how the people in the last row's view was :worried: It would be nice if some how they could set up simple risers or something to ensure we get the amazing view we paid for:thumbsup2

Thanks for sharing your line waiting experience. We're going in August, so I'm sure the check in time will be 8pm by then.
