17 Days of Wishes Come to Life- A Sept. 08 WDW and DCL Adventure 3/27 new link posted

What a great surprise!! I've been waiting so patiently to hear what it was and it was worth the wait :thumbsup2 I can't even imagine how excited your kids were to see their dear friends and then for Idaho Jones to show up! The food from your luncheon looks amazing too, it was making me hungry!

How very cool with Idaho visiting the kids and all. I would have been upset over the location but what can you do. No one noticed so no harm done. The food looked fabulous. Mmmmmmm. I cant wait to hear the rest!!

Yes!!! :thumbsup2 An update! I was glad to see your report!
Ok, first I must say that the food looks amazing! I am with you, the pasta salad looks soooo good! And I am way impressed with the Mickey head watermelon slices!! Idaho Jones, awesome surprise!
Kudos to you for rising above what could have been super frustrating... you handled the venue change very smoothly. It would seem that you are quite good at "making lemonade" when others may have been stuck on the lemons.... :flower3:

Great food pictures! Everything looked super yumm, especially the steaks and watermelon!

It's too bad they had to change the area, but you did handle it really well and I'm proud of you!

And Idaho!! OMG, that was exciting! I bet the kids, and probably the adults, too, were holding their breath waiting to see what might happen next -- you are just a tricky little girl!!! :hippie: Such great friends -- you all deserved it after all you went through. To really enjoy that together! :grouphug:

Can't wait for more!

 :thumbsup2

Wow how cool having Indies brother meet you, the boys look so happy!
It was so very cool! We all LOVED every second with him!

Wow what an amazing surprise, I love that Idaho Jones came to visit.
The surprise of his visit went over even better then I had hoped. Nobody had a clue but they were all totally taken with him! I was so proud of myself for not spilling the beans! ;)

Oh my! Jay, it was just a wonderful surprise for your guests who had no expectations, and the food looks spectacularly yummy.

I have to say, though, you handled the venue change FAR better than I would have under the circumstances. Surely they could have put up a tent top for a shower?
I figured what good would it do. I really was very disappointed though...I had my heart set on the outdoor luncheon. I didn't want to let that color my day though. So, I chose to focus on the air conditioning (ha ha ha) and let the rest go. What I couldn't change wouldn't help me to be upset about. I think it would have been easier to take if there had actually been rain during our luncheon. In the end, nobody else knew to draw the comparison. Compared to dinner at a sit down place in the midst of other guests, the private meal with our own personal servers and menu made just for us rocked. That's the standard I tried to make myself compare it to, not the beautiful outdoor picnic I had envisioned (cause it did pale in comparison). I guess I just have a reason to do it again! ;)

Talk about a dream, special for everybody! :worship: All the food looks really tasty and Idaho Jones sure looks like his brother! ;) I can't get over your idea to have your boys favorite adventurer burst in! This is really exciting to read
The boys were so floored. We all were (even though dh and I knew he was coming). He played it off perfectly and really looked the part. He even had a stubbled face! He fit the part to a 't'.

The food looks amazing. We just got done eating, but after looking at that I think I could eat again. :rotfl:
I literally screamed when I saw the Mickey watermellons. That had to be one of the most special Disney Days.

Can't wait to read more.popcorn::
:lmao: I think I let out a happy yip. I was so excited to see Mickey in our meal!

Loving the party!!! :cheer2: I can't wait to hear the rest!!!!

Loved the luncheon surprise! Too bad it was moved inside. I agree with you the setting just doens't seem right. I loved the look of the patio setup with the beach you showed earlier in the pics :sad2: . Anyway the food looks yummy and the kids look like they are having so much fun.
At least I got pictures of what the set up would have been.:lmao:

I wish I had a plate with the steak, shrimp and pasta salad right now!

That was the thing, there was nothing I could do...other then chose, roll with the change and still have fun or endure the change and waste my dream day being upset. Still rots that we had to move inside. :sad1:

Ha ha ha, lemonade is one of my favorite drinks! ;)

It was so exciting! I thought I might hyper ventilate BEFORE he came in (knowing he was going to be coming through the doors any minute). The kids were all completely taken with him.:thumbsup2 I will be posting our "after luncheon time" next.

Ohh Jay.....I am so sorry the venue was changed BUT so happy you decided to not let it ruin your special day. You ROCK Jay!!!! I would have loved to be a fly on that wall to see your boys reaction to Idaho Jones bursting in!!!! You have such an amazing imagination I know you boys must have a wild one too!!!

I can not WAIT for the next part of this very special day.....popcorn::

Hi Jay:yay: I just found your trip report and it's wonderful. I can't wait to read the next installment. Oh, and your boys are so cute...and your little baby just looks so happy all of the time.

WOW What a great suprise!! Sorry you got moved from the Summerhouse pattio, but the suprise was just amazing! Your boys are the luckiest kids in the world!! :worship:

What an awesome thing to do! How did you come up with that idea and who did you call to plan it? Also, in your post you have "IPO", can I ask what that is?

:thumbsup2 Wow, Jay...what an awesome surprise! I knew it was going to be exciting based on your PTR, but words do not do your luncheon justice. You definitely win the "Coolest Mom" of the year award in my books!:cool2: I can't wait to hear about the rest of your day. I beleive a :boat: was involved, right?:rolleyes1

My imagination paled next to that of the Disney event planners and especially the Disney entertainment division. OH MY GOODNESS...those people must live on pixie dust and magic beans because they had magical idea after magical idea after magical idea. I was amazed by their imaginations and love of making the most of magic.

We are lucky that he is a very happy little guy most of the time. I shudder to think what it would be like if he was a crabby little sweetie. We really are blessed by his calmness. Sometimes I wonder if you cannot help but be a go-with-the-flow baby if you are the youngest of four.:rotfl:

Glad i found this, i had no idea!! I love the WL!!
The WL had so many fun things to explore and I am glad that I can say that I have stayed there now! :)

WOW What a great suprise!! Sorry you got moved from the Summerhouse pattio, but the suprise was just amazing! Your boys are the luckiest kids in the world!! :worship:
I don't know about luckiest kids on earth, but we do try to make sure they realize that it's a very special thing that they are given so much by way of vacations and toys and such. We want them to know that not everyone lives the way we do (we in specific our family and we as in those of us in the USA too). If they ever forget that, the trips and everything else will stop. I will NOT raise a spoiled brat. :headache: That's one of my worst nightmares. :sad2: :upsidedow

What an awesome thing to do! How did you come up with that idea and who did you call to plan it? Also, in your post you have "IPO", can I ask what that is?
The idea started off much differently...it started off with Jack Sparrow (way to expensive to pull that idea off), it went to maybe a time with Aladdin. Then I took a look at the boys and our dear friend's kids and realized what they love the most is adventure. Benjamen Franklin Gates from National Treasure and Indiana Jones are there two favorite characters of all time...that made it easy to ask them to help me come up with some sort of adventurer theme. It was so much fun to dream it all up! IPO stands for Itinerary Planning Office. If you stay at the club (used to be called concierge) level, then you have the use of them. They will book your meals, activities, preshop for you, order cakes and help you set up or book most things. It was the IPO that put me in contact with an event planner at the Grand Floridian in the Convention Services area. I never would have found the right person trying to set it up on my own.

HA HA HA I am not sure the boys would agree. Although I think I at least deserve some sort of award for this morning. I let them go crazy with toilet paper rolls in the living room while they made each other into mummies. I allowed them to mummify a chicken (well at least start it, we now have to wait for weeks) in the kitchen. I then allowed them to place the mummified chicken in attic. After that they painted heirogylphics on to parchment paper and then carved them into balsa wood. If you cannot tell, we are learning about ancient Egypt. ;) I have no idea how to follow a morning like this up! ;) The mess took as long to clean as the activities...but the boys are happy and hopefully a lot of what they have learned has now stuck. ;)

Day 5...Our dreams continue!

After we were so full that I thought none of us (including the children) would fit back out the door, we decided to go out and enjoy the area around the Summerhouse. We grabbed drinks and ventured out. AHHHHHH...this was the setting I had been dreaming of. We had so much fun spending time together. Talking, relaxing and taking in the beautiful view!

Aladdin and his dear friend, Abu were even inspired to throw on the Indiana Jones accessories they had (I was lugging a LOT of stuff ;) ).
GOODWDWcamera040.jpg

Dh trying to demonstrate how a whip can fight water? :rotfl2: Notice the only wetness of any sort was coming from the showers. :guilty:
GOODWDWcamera039.jpg

We had so much fun relaxing and enjoying each others company and I got so caught up in doing it that even I was taken by surprise when the next portion of our day started...

Idaho Jones returned!! He stormed in running full speed and huffing and puffing again. He looked around to make sure that the coast was clear. We were all glad that the bad guys who had been on his tail were gone. Idaho was MUCH worse for the wear. His face and arms were covered in fresh bruises and scratches! While we had finished our meal and spent some time relaxing in the Florida sun, he had been procuring a very special set of clues. He explained that he had gone to no small lengths to locate the clues, get them before the bad guys got there, fight his way free of them once they showed up and then finally lose them in order to make it back here without being followed...all the while holding tight to the clues that would lead to a grand adventure!

Here he is showing the kids the tube he won after his hard fought battles.
GOODWDWcamera044.jpg

Getting the scroll out...
GOODWDWcamera045.jpg

GOODWDWcamera047.jpg

Unrolling it (you can really see his "injuries" in this one)...
GOODWDWcamera046.jpg

Our clues were printed upon an aged cloth scroll.
GOODWDWcamera132.jpg

He then read the first in a series of clues to the kids:

"There's only one way to solve the mystery at hand
And the promise that it holds is an adventure that's grand

Journey forth from your revelry next to this Summerhouse
Go bold like a lion not quiet like a mouse

Veer left from the beach to avoid taking a bath
Pass the tall palm trees and look down the straight path"
GOODWDWcamera048.jpg

And we were off!!
GOODWDWcamera049.jpg

"Ahead is a rock, placed there in the grass
Proceed to it now, wait there do not pass

Walk between the two lampposts just beyond them you'll find
A wet flowing welcome displayed from behind"

GOODWDWcamera051.jpg

GOODWDWcamera056.jpg

GOODWDWcamera055.jpg

Day 5...Our dreams continue! PART TWO

"At this hub remember to bypass the rules
Choose the path with no bench to avoid water pools"

GOODWDWcamera052.jpg

GOODWDWcamera062.jpg

GOODWDWcamera061.jpg

"Proceed down this path that is covered in shade
To the two spiral bushes and the map there displayed"

GOODWDWcamera053.jpg

GOODWDWcamera060.jpg

GOODWDWcamera059.jpg

GOODWDWcamera058.jpg

GOODWDWcamera064.jpg

GOODWDWcamera065.jpg

Everyone we passed made comments about the all of the 'Indianas' and pointed and some even took pictures! I wonder what they thought was going on. Ha ha ha.
GOODWDWcamera054.jpg

"Wind left down the path where the two buildings pinch
To the fork in the road find the map, it's a cinch"
GOODWDWcamera066.jpg

"Proceed there, stop briefly and soon you'll believe
The journeys worth taking soon you'll have your reprieve"
GOODWDWcamera067.jpg

GOODWDWcamera057.jpg

"Find the short lamp then tall one now line them up straight
Through the gnarled crepe myrtle, past the fence see your fate"
GOODWDWcamera056.jpg

"To get there turn right take the high ground don't tarry
Pass the Sugar Loaf sign in the bushes it's buried

Continue on your course find the captain's shipyard
From where you are standing it shouldn't be hard"
GOODWDWcamera068.jpg

GOODWDWcamera069.jpg

GOODWDWcamera077.jpg

"On your left is a ramp...ahead a black clock
Behind you are boats parked alongside the dock"

GOODWDWcamera063.jpg

GOODWDWcamera070.jpg

GOODWDWcamera071.jpg

"There are sea racers, pontoons and a leaky rowboat
But these aren't the vessels upon which you will float

Your fate on the seas will be festive and fun
On the portside's your treasure, it's called the Grand One"

When he got done reading that the kids and everyone else but dh and myself were still stumped (they didn't know what the Grand One was).

As Idaho Jones polled our group as to what we thought might be coming up next, a marina CM came out of boathouse and said he had an important message that Indiana Jones had left for his brother, Idaho Jones...
GOODWDWcamera074.jpg

GOODWDWcamera075.jpg

What would the message that was hidden within a small leather pouch say?!

TO BE CONTINUED...
