17 Days of Wishes Come to Life- A Sept. 08 WDW and DCL Adventure 3/27 new link posted

WOW!!! Have some food! That was an amazing amount of food! Gotta love room service! There is something very fun about ordering food in while on vacation. :goodvibes Very clever ice cream keeper design! Can't waste the ice cream!
Ok, now I am joining all of the others in saying, "Please don't leave us hanging!!!" It's time for the big reveal, we can wait to hear everything!

I am impressed with the amount of food you received from Room Service. You could have fed an army with all that food. :lmao:

I can't wait to see what happens at the Grand Floridian. Kudos to the IPO for how they pulled off your Indiana Jones surprise.

I am glad to hear that Little Prince is feeling better.

All that room service foods looks sooo good!
It does, doesn't it?! It was good! ;) I just felt badly that we had so much left over for them to carry back down after we had finished with our meal. There was just no way on earth we could have eaten all of that.

Jay, I am stuffed just looking at all that food.
What a nice relaxed meal, and a perfect ending to your day.
I can just picture you all standing, arms around each other, watching the EWP. It's so sweet and touching that it gives me gooseflesh.

I can't wait to know what the surprise was:goodvibes
It was a really sweet family moment for me. It's one of those moments that stands out, not because of some awesome thrill ride or amazing show or even a totally magical event, it was just awesome, amazing and magical because I was so happy to be at a place I love so much with people I love so much doing somethign I love so much. Ahhh, I am a mushy brained ninny...but it still makes me smile and sigh when I think of it. :cloud9:

:hyper: Can't wait for your next installment!
I love that hyper smilie. How on earth have you been? The next installment will be up shortly.

Yay :cheer2: The big day is almost here! I can't wait to hear how all your plans came together! I love the surprise gifts and the invitation that was left in your room - how clever! Don't you have friends joining you for this surprise? Did you have the same invitation sent to them? Nevermind, I'm sure you'll get to that - I'm just being impatient!

Ok, Jay, hurry up, I need the next day posted ASAP! :lmao: I'm so excited and it's not even my surprise!
The plans that went on for ages and ages and ages! Ha ha ha. The invitation was so unexpected (I thought it was going to be on GF stationary just inviting us to meet at the Summerhouse at 3:00 PM) I had NO CLUE we would have such a cool invitation. It's amazing what Disney thinks of!

Yay!!! The "big" day is finally coming! I seriously cannot wait to read all about it.

Your evening sounded wonderful......ordering room service and relaxing in the room watching the parade. What a wonderful way to spend the night as a family.:cloud9:
It was a wonderful way to spend an evening. I am so glad that I have learned to just let things flow sometimes...even if it diverts from my "best laid" plans. ;) We never did end up at Fort Wilderness this trip. I had planned on exploring it both in the evening and then again during the day. Sometimes reality is much better than any dream even if it is much different. :thumbsup2

What a great surprise, Jay! :thumbsup2 I can just imagine the boys excited smiles when they saw all the Indiana Jones stuff! (I cannot wait to hear how all the surprises at Grand Floridian pan out!) :goodvibes

Room service sounds fun ;) DH's ribs look delicious. I think it's very nice you have a memory notebook and take it out every New Year :cloud9:
It was so fun to watch them get all of that stuff! The only down side was having to lug it all home. If we had not been in a van with LOTS of storage space we would have been in loads of trouble and had to either ship something home or leave something behind. As it was, by the time our vacation was over, we were stuffed like sardines. :rotfl: I shudder to think what it would have cost us to ship stuff home if we had been flying home. :scared1: ;)

Your towel animals were so cool. What a great surprise for the boys to come home to all those cool toys. I LOVE the idea of the lifetime memory book. Your special moment brought a tear to my eye. What a great memory for your family.
I loved our towel animals. And I did confirm that we could keep them...the housekeeping manager said that not only could we, but that we should, they were gifts to us! So...I have an entire shelf full of them in my bathroom now. And I LOVE every single one of them. ;)

A lifetime memory book is so easy to do. Just do it. :rotfl: Seriously though, I just use cheapy spiral notebooks (I am sure a nice leather bound journal might be 'nicer' but I started in a cheapy notebook and I now feel attached to them:lmao: -just a word of warning, start in whatever kind you want to use for good). I just keep it on a shelf with my cookbooks (it means it's close at hand at least a few times a day by being in the kitchen). Whenever I feel the urge to write something down, I just grab my notebook and do it. Sometimes I write a few pages (like Christmas morning when I was pregnant with our Little Prince and totally hormonal:laughing: ) or other times I just write a few words (like after seeing Stitch trying to ride on our lab). It's that simple (at least my version of it). They have become some of my most precious possesions.

Jay I was waiting for this moment in your trip. I can not wait to see what the next day brings. I remember all the planning and I was really excited with your choices for your special day. You are one great mama. I love it so far. I am sitting on the edge of my seat reading this trippee.
I am on the edge of my seat typing about it...so I guess we aer even. :rotfl:

Oh, random question for you too....with the Pack & Play, do they provide the sheets and blankie? Or did you bring your own?

I plan to bring our own, just so Henry has them from home (familar), but in case I forget, or if they get dirty or something, I'm wondering if WL provides these?
They had the pack and play Mickey sheets (and they even brought an extra up with it in case I needed it in the middle of the night). If it gets dirty, just ask them for another one. Unless you think he would do better with his own sheets, you might not have to pack them being as he would have a familiar blankie.

One thing I didn't think about and wished I had was outlet covers. There are outlets all over those rooms. Who would have guessed it?:lmao: Seriously though, WL DOES have outlet covers. It took mousekeeping a bit to figure out what I was asking for, but they brought us up a package of them (no charge) to use in the room. If you don't want to go to the trouble of tracking them down at the WL (you have to call and ask them to bring them up and then you have to insist that they do have them:laughing: ) you might want to just throw a few in your suitcase. HTH

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Cliffhanger!
You have me really interested now... WHAT is the surprise. What? What???? The CM's do seem to go above and beyond which is just so magical. :) The food looks absolutely delectable. Mmmm...popcorn:: Your family time watching the pageant seems absolutely heavenly. The lifetime memory book actually sounds like a really good idea. I think I might actually start one. :yay: I cannot wait until we find out what your special surprise is soon.
Hope the LP is doing ok--and all the rest of the clan.
He is doing okay. I am starting to wonder if his ear pulling has now turned into a habit, because he seems okay but he is starting to tug on his ear again. I am hoping it is the start of a haibt and not an early indicator that we are in for yet another ear infection. His visit to the chiropractor yesterday went well. He has another appointment next week and they are hopeful they can help get the ear infections under control. We have his ENT appointment next week also. He is going to have spent more time in a doctor's office in his first year than Goofy and Stitch have combined...which is nothing to brag about. Thanks for asking.

Yummy room service. I cannot believe they sent up PINTS of Haggen Daz!! Yummy!!

The IJ stuff is so great, i can't wait for the next suprise!!

HURRY UP!!!
I was surprised that they did. But we made good use of the leftovers. We used it to "spruce up" the leftover Mickey head cake we had from the unbirthday party we had. It made for a great snack.:thumbsup2

Great update Jay,
I love the surprise you had IPO set up on the room. Kids love it when they get surprises in the room, don't they! Looks like a great relaxing night at WL. I have booked there for next fall. We haven't stayed at WL since Kaylee was 3 so it should be fun to go back there again. I can't wait to see the surprise at GF .
I love surprises. Especially those left for you. It's so much fun to open your door and never know if something special might be waiting for you!

ENTIRE PINTS OF ICE CREAM???? Are you kidding? Holy Cow! That was a lot of food. From room service, even. WOW!

Can you tell you have a lot of people waiting - not so patiently - for your big reveal? We have been in on this with you from the start. Now it's here! :cool1:

Can. Not. Wait.

HURRY!!!
Ha ha ha. "Can. Not. Wait. " :rotfl: :lmao: :rotfl2:

wonderful room service :goodvibes good food... and so relaxing...

can't wait for the big surprise!!:cool1:
We loved room service. We actually always do. No matter where we are staying (WDW or not) we are room service lovers. Something about them bringing me my food in a hotel room makes a meal special. :rotfl: How spoiled does that sound?! But, I really do enjoy it.

Thank you, we did think our ice cream keeper design was pretty good. It would have been a huge shame to waste such good ice cream. :lmao: I won't leave you hanging, I am working on the next update as we speak. I have the photos ready now and I will be posting very soon! Thanks for sticking with me!:goodvibes

I am glad to hear that Little Prince is feeling better.
:lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl: Tell me about it! Even after we had eaten as much as we wanted, the tray was still really heavy for dh when he took it to set it outside of the room!

The boys presents looked great and how cute with all the ribbons!

The room service food looks delicious and very ingenious for keeping the ice cream frozen :rotfl:

Ooooh I can't wait to hear about tomorrow popcorn::

Day 5...A morning of keeping my mouth shut!

Let me be the first to admit this, I have a big mouth!! Seriously, tell me a secret and it will never be uttered again but if you tell me about a surprise...I can almost guarantee that it will slip. I get so excited about surprises and I have this overwhelming urge to just spill the beans. Either that or I walk around looking like the cat that ate the canary. I am guilty as charged when it comes to being a surprise ruiner.

I had done so well in keeping the gigantic surprises that were to fill the rest of this day from my children that I didn't want to spoil it at the last minute. Thus, knowing myself and my big mouth (from whence surprises do freely flow at inopportune moments) I planned to spend the morning away from my family. Nothing short of that step would have kept my tongue from wagging on this special day. I was as nervous as a cat in a room full of rockers as I got up. I didn't want to wake any of the kids. I was afraid that if I did and they asked me what we were doing that day, that I might just tell. :rotfl: Seriously though, I was in almost physical pain from not being able to spill the beans, so I kissed dh (who was once again logged on to the internet and working **UGH WORK AT WDW**) goodbye and slipped silently from the room.

I made my way down to the valet stand and asked for a cab. I was running a bit behind this morning and didn't want to miss out, I had a relaxing pedicure/manicure combination treatment planned at the Grand Floridian's spa. The reason I was running behind is that having four children, I rarely have to set an alarm clock to ensure that I am up in the morning, you can pretty much depend on at least one of them (usually the baby) to be up bright and early. As luck would have it, they all chose this morning to sleep in peacefully. Ha ha ha. Thus, the cab ride over. When I arrived I gave them my name and was led back to the women's changing area/lounge. Since I didn't need to change for a pedi/mani, I just poured a glass of cold lemon water, grabbed a banana and magazine and relaxed while I awaited my pampering.

It turns out between the IPO office and the spa schedule there was a time misunderstanding. My pedicure/manicure had been scheduled for the afternoon?! There was NO way I requested that (I had better things to do that afternoon!). I have no idea where the communication breakdown happened (although my printed itinerary that the concierge staff gave me had my spa time listed as 9:30 AM *the time I arrived*). The people at the spa were very nice about working me in. It turns out the scheduling snafu was actually a good thing. It gave me to time to relax while lounging around. I needed to calm down a bit. :rotfl: I was just a tad bit excited over what was to come. :rolleyes1 :yay:

The pedicure/manicure was very relaxing. I thought the CM who did mine did a great job. And as it turns out, if you book a manicure/pedicure combination, you get a free (brand new) bottle of nail polish to go with your treatment. That was a nice little surprise for me. I spent over two hours relaxing and being pampered at the GF spa. When it came time for me to leave, they offered to call a CM with a golf cart over to pick me up and take me to the main building. I thought that sounded fun! Before I went out to climb onboard the cart, I ran back and grabbed an apple to bring with me as a snack. One banana does not a satisfied stomach make. I wanted to be full enough that I would not be tempted to snack before our 3:00 surprise.

Here is a picture I took of the spa while I was seated on the golf cart.

It was an enjoyable ride. The CM driving it was very nice. He asked where to and I said I needed to get back to the main building but I would love a "quick tour" before we got there. To my surprise, he said sure and took me all over the grounds of the Grand Floridian. It was a very relaxing fifteen minute ride. I got way more of a tour then I was expecting and it was a great addition to my day!

As he dropped me off at the main building, I saw the area I had been dying to see...the Summerhouse building/patio and small beach area.
disney08369.jpg

LOOK at the red tables being set up!! They were going to be for us!!:woohoo:
disney08370.jpg

The Summerhouse Patio area. Look at the lovely roses!

And here is the small beach area in front of it.

disney08375.jpg

Ahhh, I was so excited I could barely handle it...in just a few short hours all of the plans/dreams would start to play out right here!! After taking it all in for a few moments, I headed back into the main building and up to the monorail station. Along the way, I took a few photographs.
disney08377.jpg

disney08380.jpg

And this...my favorite picture! We were on the resort events board!
disney08379-1.jpg

And almost walking on air (with very pretty toenails if I do say so myself), I made my way up to the monorail platform and took a few more pictures as the monorail approached.

disney08382.jpg

I departed the monorail at the Contemporary intending to catch a boat launch back to the WL from there. I changed my mind when it started to rain. I went to the valet stand and requested my second cab of the day. In a very few minutes I was back at the WL and heading up to get ready for the rest of our incredible day. I knew it would be hard to hold it in...but I was determined that I could pass the one remaining hour before our surprise was to start without giving anything away.:rolleyes1

When I got back to the room, dh told me that our dear family friends had safely made it to WDW (step one in the surprise plan was now checked off). The boys then proceeded to tell me all about their morning as I got ready. I heard about how they woke up and headed up to the club lounge for a late breakfast. How they then chose to spend the entire rest of the morning (and part of the early afternoon too) in the arcade at the WL. Dh didn't want to tell me how much he let them spend there. :lmao: I took that to mean it was way more than he should have. ;) But I could have cared a less. My boys were all happy. They were freshly showered and starting to get dressed for the rest of our day AND that arcade time had bought me a reprieve. They were so busy telling me about what they had done so far that nobody thought to ask me just what was next! :thumbsup2

What was next?! That will be revealed in the next installment! :cool2:

TO BE CONTINUED...

NNNOOOOOO!!!! :scared1: Don't stop now!!!! :rotfl: This is putting me in fits! I just logged on to see if you had updated and you have let us hanging AGAIN!!! But it is all so worth it... you are telling a great story! Lots of build up! ;)

Darn Cliffhanger :lmao: . I don't remember all the details from your pretrip report plans. Looking forward to the boys surprise. What a nice way to spend the morning at WDW, in the GF Spa. I can never keep surprises to my self either, that's is why there are no surprises around here  . You usually do and excellent job planning surprises for your family, looking forward to the rest popcorn:: .

You were all famous for the day on the GF events board! :thumbsup2 It must have been exciting watching them set the tables up, knowing what the afternoon would hold! :cloud9: Can't wait for the reveal!

YOU ARE SUCH A TEASE!!!!!!

I'm so excited that I just can't stand it!

Oh, and you could have told the little nugget, but I suppose with his big smiling face, he would have given it all away!:rotfl2:

I can't wait!!!:cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

Sounds like a wonderful, relaxing morning w/ lots of "me time".:thumbsup2

Oh no ... The cliffhanger......

waiting patiently........

I will be updating more tomorrow...I do promise that at least part of the surprise will be revealed. :cool2: And do let me be the first person to wish you all a very
HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

This is all very, very useful! I think I am going to take your advice and just do the blankie and use the (super cute) Mickey sheets provided. Henry is a very good sleeper and has never had a problem sleeping anywhere, so I don't anticipate a problem.

That is a great idea about the outlet covers too...we have soooo many of them, I'll be sure to add that to my packing list. Thank you!

I am glad to hear Little Prince is doing better as well. :goodvibes Hopefully all the ear troubles are over for good!

And leaving us on a CLIFFHANGER huh?! I'm sooooo excited to read about the party. I told DH about it and he's anxious to hear the details as well! popcorn::

Happy Halloween to you! :goodvibes

Happy Hallow'een to YOU too, Jay! (and why are you not UP, writing your little fingers to the bone??? your public awaits!):rotfl:
