17 Days, Family O' 6, $3160.00 Budget**TRIP REPORT on pg 26**@Now with Pics!@

Followed this thread a while ago and then I lost it. Subscribing so I can go back and read through it again. I love a bargain vacation, and would love to apply some of these tips to our next trip. Anxious to see how your trip goes...either way, the Mouse House is great, and you'll have a wonderful time!

Let us all know the details when you get back!

we stayed at summer bay through skyauction, you'll enjoy it, your food budget is great and it can be successful, since summber bay has a full kitchen, you can go to the grocery store right next to the property, get sand, chips, snacks and drinks and take your lunch and dinner with you, We wanted to eat out sometimes, but i just did not see paying all that money, when we could cook breakfast and dinner in our villa and take our lunch, good luck and have fun

Glad to hear you had such a good experience at Summer Bay!! :sunny: I noticed on the website that they have a Publix on the resort grounds, is it a full size grocery store that takes coupons? Thanks!!

TNKBLL...since you are coming to Melbourne...I recommend an excellent park---lots of free parking, on the beach, bathrooms and a playground...down the street from a walmart should you wish to pick up some snacks.

It is at the intersection of Paradise Blvd and A1A in Indialantic....you would take Eau Gallie Blvd or 192 East to A1A.....from Eau Gallie, you turn right and it is the next stop light (about 1 mile)...from 192 turn right, I can't recall the stoplight count---I think it is the 2nd stop light. It is called Futch Park..it has a HUGE covered pavillion with plenty of room for picnicing.....several crossovers down to the beach. Showers for rinsing....very clean bathrooms.

If you take Eau Galie--there is a walmart and Winn Dixie at the intersection of A1A and Eau Gallie....there is also a Walgreens right across the street from the beach.

The playground is one of THE best beachside--with the equipment being fairly well covered in places for nice shade.

Just thought I'd toss that in there ;).

we always shop at Publix when we visit Central FL :)

They do take coupons, and the weekly ad is posted on the website. If I am not mistaken, the sales run Wed-Tues. I don't think that Publix doubles coupons, though....that's the only downside I can think of.

Lisa...That park sounds great! We'll have to have a picinic there!! Thanks for the tip!!

Your welcome...and just in case you try to change your mind last minute to go to the park at the end of 192..which is a really nice beach..but the playground isn't as nice...you haev to feed the meter and the meter maids are pretty strict about checking the meters very frequently. So that would be lots of quarters from your budget.

Heck--you tell us when you'll be at Futch Park, we'll come over for a playdate ;).

Hey Lisa!! Do you have an address for Futch Park? That way I can just print off a mapquest map and add it to my huge map pile!!
Come on over that would be fun!! We will probably go the 2nd week we are there, is Futch Park near the Brevard Zoo by any chance? We want to go when they will be feeding the alligators,so it will be Wednesday, Oct 5th or Sunday Oct 9th. Thanks for the heads up on the quarter eater! We need those babies for tolls!! :teeth:

No--if you are coming for a day trip...I'd hit the zoo when it opens at 9:30am....then come over to futch park for a picnic lunch.
ETA: since you want to feed the alligators...the website says Fridays are on as well for that. They are fed at 3:30pm...so hit the beach in the morning, get all cleaned up and leave the beach after lunch and head to the zoo --only take a right onto A1A and head north to Pineda (I'll have to checkt he milage for you--you turn just before the airforce base). Turn left onto Pineda...this street ends at Wicham. Turn left onto Wickham and head to the zoo. It will be a left turn at the stop light where Wendey's is to the zoo.

It will take you about 20-30 minutes depending on "traffic" (traffic to us here is light to those from really high traffic areas).

Futch park's address is: 2301 N Highway A1A, Melbourne (it's really Indialantic, but that is the city they have on the info page--if mapquest doesn't work, use Indialantic).

I'll PM you my phone # :).

I have to agree here...I love a great cheap vacation. I just do not see why you should waste money to enjoy a nice vacation. I realize each person has a different opinion on a budget. And if they are happy with their expense - GREAT!

I think your budget is good. I hope you have something stashed for what if's. You and only use know how much you will spend for food. If you are comfortable with it go for it. We went in June for 6 nights. We did purchase the no expiration and I am glad we did. We have 2 days left on our tickets. My ta said if DS was short and could pass for a child's ticket that I should do that. I felt like that was cheating....We did NOT do it. We stayed in the parks and needless to say it cost quiet a bit more for this priviledge. I did not spend one dime more than I had planned. I actually brought home about $200 from the trip.

I hope you vacation is great.

Everyone has been asking how she pays for groceries, diapers, and dog food for $75 a week. Easy, she budgets. Our weekly budget is $100.00 a week for food, diapers and household cleaners. We are a family of 6 with one in diapers and one in pullups (ARGGHHH). We also feed 4 daycare children breakfast , lunch and a snack 5 days a week. Everyone that we know would tell you that we eat well, however. We are NOT man n' cheese people. But we DO splurge on vacation. We are doing the meal plan cause if Mommy is on vacation then mommy isn't cooking or cleaning! :rotfl2: Otherwise, it would be home away from home. Not my thing. :)

Just logging on so when they come back i will get the update.. Hope they are having tons of fun! Michelle

I just visited with TNKBELL on Monday--very nice family.

They were to be en route back home on Tuesday.
