Does anyone know the status of the 1600 loop comfort station? I thought I read here that it was closed. Does anyone know what they were doing and when (if not already) it is expected to reopen?

We are leaving in less than a week for a 2 week stay at the Fort. We are in a full hook up site. We requested the 1600 loop. Should we request a different loop?

Thanks in advance!

We were at FW around the middle of May and I stopped by the 1600 Loop Comfort Station and I spoke with one of the workers that was working on the project. He told me at that time he thought it would take another month to complete. With all of the rain that they have had at FW after we checked out I am not sure if it slowed down the work or not. Maybe it will be finished by the time you check-in. Sure hope so!

Safe travels and I hope you and your family have a great vacation at Fort Wilderness/Disney!

I don't think it is open yet and it looked a long way from being so when we were there the middle of May.

We had never stayed in a full until this last trip and after asking some people on here, decided on 1700 for our request. We LOVED it! We had site 1727 but didn't like it when we saw it so I walked the loop and saw 1739 and loved it. It is near the entrance of the loop and not far from the comfort station between 1700 and 1900.

I would request 1700 if you need a comfort station. We really liked it! Have a great trip!

The 1600 Loop actually has two comfort stations. There is one between 1500 and 1600 that is open and was remodeled a while ago.

The one that is closed is the one between 1600 and 1800.

So you will be OK in 1600.

Thank you all for your replies. I called the Fort and they told me the comfort station is scheduled to reopen this weekend! Yeahh!!

And now the countdown begins....32 hours until we leave for the Fort!!

I'm not sure who is more excited...the kids or me and DH!

:cool1:  :yay: :cheer2:

If you are talking about the Comfort Station that is on the road between 1600 and 1700 Yes it is open. We just returned from the Fort for a week and it was open when we got there on 6/6. Hope this helps

No, Carol was right, the 1600 CS is shared by 1600 and 1800 and is placed between them. There is another that is between the 1700 and 1900 loops that is shared by them.

Slight correction the shared comfort stations are two and one is between the 1500 and 1600 loops (not the 1600 and 1800 loops since those are Kitty Cornered to each other) and the other is between the 1600 and 1900 loops. For 1600 loopers I think if you want to be close to a CS you need to be around 1635 (for the 1500/1600 shared CS) and around 1650 or a very high 1600 site number (for the 1600/1900 shared CS). I always shoot for the back of the 1600 loop to use the 1500/1600 CS and use the 1500 loop bus stop that is for us more convenient.

I had a regret, and deleted the original post. Sorry to any who may have read it.

I will simply say that since 1800 loop folks would not logically use ANY other CS, and since this CS is located closest to the 1600 and 1800 loops I will continue to refer to it as the 1600/1800 CS... not to suggest that it is improper for the 1700 or 1900 folks to use this CS, I'm just saying that for me the natural way to refer to it is to call it the 1600/1800 CS.

Awwww, shoot! I want to read the original post, Shan!!

For further clarification - in the clover leaf (1600-1900) there are THREE comfort stations.

The first is on the corner of the 1600 loop. This is shared by 1600 & 1800. This is the one that was closed for upgrades. As of last night (6/12) it was open. If it wasn't - then I should not have used stall #2.

The second comfort station is on the 1900 loop & is shared by 1700. The paved path for access from 1700 is across the street from site 1731.

The third is on 1500 & is shared with 1600. The path from 1600 is at site (IIRC) 1632.

Any confusion? See Shan's wonderfully detailed map.

That is all.
