Wow, what a story! That has to be one the most depressing, yet uplifting stories I have ever read. You must have more courage than 3 people combined. To go through what you did and mostly alone, is an amazing feat, especially in the first dark days when you found out the truth. I was trying to picture what was going through your head when you did a suprise visit to the hospital and first saw what was going on. I don't think I would have held it together too well and probably would not be here today. Amazing story.
Unmedicated the odds of an HIV positive mother having an HIV positive child are around 25 percent...Her viral load at the time has a lot to do with the risk..Usually when a child aquires HIV from their mother it is from coming in contact with blood during the birth
A women who takes meds and has a C-section(which is standard nowdays) has about as much of a chance of having an HIV positive baby as a healthy woman's chances of having a baby with a birth defect...Less than 2 %
We should all be living life the way you do! We don't know how long we have with our loved one's and it is really touching to read about how special your time with your family is.
I have read your story before. It is a real eye opener and my heart tugged so badly for you. But as I read more I realized what an inspiration you are for so many. I wish you many many years of contnued health and lots of love for your kids.
