15th day added to car rental changes everything

I'm still searching for a two week car rental for end of July/early August. Just out of curiousity I go to Hotwire and plug in exactly 14 days. The daily rate for an economy comes up at 10.95. When I change the drop off to a later time, therefore adding 8 hours to the reservation, essentially adding a day, the daily rate for the entire trip changes to $39 per day. What gives with that? Does going over two weeks trigger something?

Interesting! I am having the same experience in December. I thought that it was because we were bumping our return time into the holiday period, but it looks like not.

If that's the case, then I might consider returning the car a day early, and taking out a single day rental for the last day. I'm sure it would be cheaper, but I'm not sure I want to take that much time out of the 2nd last day of my vacation.

They have rental rates for different rental lengths. Sometimes a car rental for 6 days will be cheaper than if you had it for 5 days. Whatever you do though, try to keep it to the reservation. If you keep the car longer (or significantly less than) the reservation it can alter the rate for the entire rental.

I'd be looking into returning the car on Disney property a day early. Take advantage of the low rate, then turn right around and pick up a 1 day rental from that location to return at MCO. For THAT much savings, I'd soooo do it!
