Ok so with a 5km under my belt :woohoo: now i'm looking forward to the minnie 15km in may. The only problem is i'm struggling to find a straight forward plan for 15km, the nearest is 10miles but then the pace and distance doesn't fit with a treadmill (and my little brain is struggling to convert them:confused3 ).

Anyone used a good 15km plan for a beginner? :yay:

I would second Leana's recommendation for the Hal Higdon training plans. I have used them before. My sister is training for the 15k, which will be her first race ever, and she is going to use the Hal Higdon 15k novice.

You also mentioned pace in your post. If you are looking for something that will tell you what pace to do those training runs at, I would suggest

You can plug your 5k time in and it will give you recommended paces for different lengths of training runs.

I used Hal Higdon's outline. I think the Higdon plan is a bit aggressive for me at all levels, but I did find it helpful for sure.

I also recommend Hal Higdon's 15k training plan. I followed a modified version for my training for the 13k. I will be using it again for the 15k in May. I am also planning on using his "spring training" 12 week pre-marathon and 18 week marathon training for the 2009 Full.

Why not just find a half marathon training plan and use it? It's a little over distance but you will be more than assured of getting to the end of the 15k PLUS you will know without hesitation that you can do a half. There are many more half plans than intermediate plans.

Thank you all so much for your replies. yes Cewait i could use a half marathon plan and love the idea of being able to run that far before doing the 15km but get annoyed as the training distances and paces are in miles and mph. Treadmills work in metres and km as do i! :surfweb:

cdn_gal_eeyore, Tiger Lily 03 and TnTsParty thanks for the suggestion of Hal Higdon, that looks good and also the McMillan running site's great so thanks cynthiacindy for that. :grouphug:

Then of course you would want a 21 k plan or a plan that works on time run
