Which loop would you recommend? Why? We've never been to the Fort and are heading down Christmas '09. (I've only been tent camping 2x and only for a weekend. We're coming for a whole week - what an adventure!)

I'd appreciate any advice you might have. Nothing like preparing for the future!

Hello and welcome to the camping forum! Both loops are great. We dont tent camp anymore, but if we did I think *I* would like 1500. It's a smaller loop and does not have as many sites. Also, you are closer to the Meadows area of the resort where you can go to the Trading Post, Campfire Program and pool. That being said, 2000 is a great loop too.

Have fun planning!

Do you have large tents that need a lot of room?? If so you will probably need to request Loop 2000.

Loop 1500 is great location-wise, size of loop-wise, etc, but it is an older loop and some of them have smaller sand areas. There is one site in particular 1506 that is very narrow and has a tree in a bad spot.

Any site in 2000 will hold just about any size tent/screen room that you have, but it is a bit isolated, so you will want to have bikes or a golf cart, etc to get around the Fort.

Thanks for the responses. We are a family of 5 and are going to pitch 2 five person tents. I'm not sure if a 5 person tent is considered big or not. We are thinking about buying a screen room too. Also, our kids will be 11, 6, and 6 when we go. Do kids ever stay in a tent by themselves (next to our tent?) Is that safe/ok?

We were not planning on renting a golf cart the entire week, but maybe only for 1 day. Is there disney transportation get around the Fort?

I'm really torn as to what loop to request (I understand that it is just a request.) I asked for 1500 when I made the ressie.... but now I'm not so sure.

The boys in their own tent is fine. There is transportation to get around the Fort, but it is really convenient to hop on your bike or golf cart on your schedule to get to the main transportation hubs, or the Settlement or Meadows area for the pool, movie, etc.

We had camped at both, and we liked them both, but the 1500 is closer to the pool, the campfire and smaller, the spanish moss (2000) is also nice but too far away.

I want to step in here a minute to defend the 2000 loop.

Take a look at this map:

You see the little bridge just above the 2000 loop that crosses over into the 900 loop. There is a path that goes behind the campsites on the 2000 loop that will take you right to that bridge. From there, it is an easy stroll around the 900 loop, and you are at the Meadows Trading Post. It really isn't much more of a walk than it would be if you walked from the 1500 loop. It is true that the 1500 loop is closer to the pool, but the location of the 2000 loop is not as bad as some folks make it out to be.

Thanks again! I think I will keep my request for the 1500 loop, but after seeing the bridge I won't be disappointed if we are in the 2000. That loop seems to have good qualities too!

Is a cart still $50 a day? Does everyone usually rent one for their stay? It seems like so much extra money. Also, where do the golf carts get parked while we are at the park, etc? Where do bikes stay?

Sorry for all of the questions, but I really appreciate all of the help!!!

No, we don't rent the golf cart at all, to us is a waste of money because we are at the parks 90% of the time, we do have rest days but ride the bus instead.
You can park your cart at your campsite if you're riding the bus, or at the designated parking areas.
Bikes also you can park them at the sett post or designated areas.
We left our bikes at the campsite.

You must be a mind reader!! I was just going to ask about that! I was looking at the map and saw the trail and bridge, but no one had mentioned it, so I was wondering if it was still there. It looks like a great short-cut to get to the pool. One other question though---do the buses go both ways on the main road, or do they do a loop when going from Settlement to Outpost ?(and visa versa)

Well, the bridge out the back of loop 900 actually comes out in Creekside Meadow, the group camp site which is adjacent to 2000. It's not far out of the way but if you walk around 2000 looking for a bridge you won't find it. You have to find a cut-through between 2000 and Creekside Meadows, move to the right and it's there. We've walked and ridden our bikes across it many times.

Good luck with the trip!

Yes, the bus goes both directions.

Thanks to you both.
I will now give the thread back to the OP. (Sorry!)

Good Luck with all your planning.

Don't even worry Lynn! You had great questions, and I was happy to see them answered!
