15 month Special on AP by Upgrading Some Tickets Later?

How often are these types of extended months deals on APs seen, and will the deal be honored if I got just 1 AP in advance for perks now, and upgrade the other family members in the park later (after March 31st as the current date to purchase by for this 3 extra months)?

I am visiting during Spring break in April. Wanting to get a preferred pass, but don't want to commit to getting it for all 4 of us just yet, so looking at the potential upgrade path from the alternative 2 park, 2 day park-to-park + 2 day promo tickets for other 3 family members.

1. Are your tickets purchased directly from Universal? If they are from a third party instead, you can't upgrade them over the phone ahead of time regardless.

2. I strongly doubt they will end that promo in March and start it back up in April.

3. You could call and ask whether they would let you upgrade the other tickets with the 3 free months after the fact, but I don't see why they have any incentive to do so. It won't be a current promo at that time.

Thank you. I think purchasing all APs at one time make sense now, with 3 extra months, where I know I will at least make two trips in that period as it goes into the summer of 2022, rather than not having the 3 months for other family members. And yes, I was going to purchase the tickets from UCT, and probably not Universal. But, I was planning on just upgrading at the park after the promo expiration and not over the phone.

Your insight is much appreciated!

Believe black out dates in april end on 4/10 for seasonal & power passes. Is your trip during that time period?

If you haven’t already bought traditional tickets for the rest of the family...

Have you considered buying them either of the above passes now (in same ballpark $$$ as tickets you mention) to get the extra months bonus?

Then, plan on upgrading them to preferred at the park (believe approx $40?) to include any blackout periods you need.

Yes, plan was to buy preferred passes, since our break is the week after Easter (April 4 - 9). I haven't bought any tickets yet. Thanks for your suggestion on getting the power or seasonal pass for them and upgrading them later, since I was going to buy the tickets around same ballpark prices and didn't specify my dates in my initial post. But since first trip is during the block out dates, buying Preferred or getting the park tickets (dated ones), seems like a better option.
