Check out the podast on 5/29(email edition). John Magi says they get their coke products free because all of the advertising around WDW.

So then IT IS NOT FREE. They are exchanging services. Disney needs to recoup the lost revenue that selling those "signs" would have gotten them.

That information has been around long enough, I think it's at least partially true. It's possible the free coke is limited to specific quantity of syrup. I don't know if "free" is extended to bottled soda and water.

Most people think fountain soda costs next to nothing even if the syrup isn't free.

Fountain soda is pretty cheap. For our high school baseball team concession stand even at our small volume, a bag/box of fountain soda was about $30 and then a CO2 container is about $40 dollars. We could get approximately 500 20 oz sodas out of a bag and about 2000 20 oz sodas out of a CO2 container. Out of the deal, we also got a scoreboard with the Pepsi advertising, a six station fountain, and a crushed ice machine and maintenance on the scoreboard and machine, and free delivery of the product. We had to pay for the cups, but I don't remember how much they were.

Anyone have an address to write to WDW and tell them we are unhappy they are taking away resort specific mugs? They may not care, but if no one tells them they will never know.

I normally don't hang out in mug threads, but I am disappointed I won't get the resort-specific mugs. I don't care about soda - I drink very little of it. And I can bring my own (Whittard) premium hot chocolate when I go. Nestle hot chocolate is just "eh". If I did drink soda, I'd do better at the Hess station.

I'm a bit sad. I've known about this for a while, but this morning, here I sit, drinking out of one of my old mugs. It makes me smile everytime I fill one of those up. It makes me think of that specific trip and want to get another mug from a new resort, but oh well. It won't keep me from Disney! :)

Hey, if I have to buy another mug, then so be it. I liked the mugs and my wife also has a CBR Coffee mug. I like collecting the mugs, however, I am not going to gripe about having to buy new mugs on our next visit. I think I can budget the $44.

I'm on the other side - I like the idea of mugs that change with the annual theme rather than by resort, because we tend to find a favorite and stick with it. This way, we'd be getting a different mug from each trip, rather than collecting the same mugs over and over if we stick to one favorite resort.

I like the new mugs and the idea of an annual design. As we typically go each year but stay at the same resort, this works better for us.

The only problem with the resort mugs was that they were the same for many years, meaning we went 2 years in succession and got the same mugs. At least with a mug per year you can collect a different one every year!

Plus I remember at the all stars getting mugs with different coloured handles - great for identifying who's mug is who's, would be great if all resorts had this!

We were at SSR last week and they had different color handles on their Year of a Million Dreams mugs -- some were gray and some were black. I liked the gray look better so we went with those.

The YOAMD mug is very cute; but I will still miss resort specific.

Mark me down as one who loves the new mugs and change in program.

I'm just miffed they didn't have any at SSR when I stayed last month. I went down all excited to get a slim blue mug that would actually fit in my cupholders. Instead they had an ugly, fat generic DVC mug. On my last day there I saw a family with the blue mugs. They told me they bought them at POR because the CMs said they were good everywhere (and SSR said that's where to get the new mugs).

So I wish they'd hurry up and dispense with all the old ugly fat ones already. Give us streamlined cupholder-friendly mugs good everywhere.

As for how much we used it. I think in 8 days we got about 12-16 refills. Sometimes coffee, tea or hot chocolate, and other times a mix of sodas. I didn't use any of my store-bought soda the entire time.

Anyone know if the new mugs have a self-closing feature? Last December I was opting to use my Spectacle of Lights mug because you could close it. I spilled hot chocolate on myself too many times with the SSR mugs.

When we stayed at the POP in May we got one of the new generic mugs. When you buy it and at the station is states that it is only good for the length of the stay you bought it at and only at the resort you are staying at. So it is not good all year.

How do they know where you got the Mug? You will be able to use it throughtout the year.

maybe after the year end , they will go back to the regular hotel mugs. they could of been trying this out for the celebration.

6 pages and not one person has blamed the DDP for ruining the refill mug program. What's wrong with you people??

;)
