Hello!

Been reading the message board but couldn't see an answer for my question. I'm hopefully booking for the week before half term this October.

My five year old daughter will adore Disneyland however I wondered what happens with younger children?

My other daughter will be 14 months when we go and I wondered if young infants are allowed on any rides on laps? If so is there somewhere to leave the buggy?

Thanks! x

We have been taking our kids since they were 6 months old. There are places to leave the buggy all over the park, and baby changing stations in virtually every toilet. Your youngest will need to sit next to you on most rides, but that is rarely a problem.

There are only a few attractions that babies cannot go on, but if you want to take your 5 YO on those, you can use baby switch. Just ask the cast member for each attraction how it works for that attraction. One of you queues with the 5 year old and then rides. When you get off, the other parent can then swap and ride with the 5 YO again. It works really well.

Taking babies can be a lot of fun as long as you realise you may not be able to everything. But the fun you will get sharing the experience as one family will be pure magic. 14mth olds particularly love It's a Small World (and so do 5 YOs).

Disney parks are built for families after all.

Thats great to read, thanks. Whenever I've been to Disney I've been the child lol

They'll have to have good restraints though to kept my youngest down!

Hiya,
We went twice last year. The first time we went, I was pregnant with DD2. My DD1 was just 4 and she absolutely loved it! There're places where you can leave your buggy like everyone else does and it's ok as long as you don't leave anything in the buggy.

Second time we went, it was a week before Xmas and DD2 was only 3 mnths old. We took the buggy but also carried her in the sling and it was fine to again leave the buggy. The only ride we went on with her was 'Small world' and even that she doesn't remember :rotfl: ;)

We're going again this saturday and I think again we'll take her on SW and also on the little story telling boat ride but nothing else I don't think.

I'm sure your DD will be excited by just looking at everything there (it's very overwhelming) and she won't have time to complain about not going on the rides.

You'll have a fantastic time - I know we will!:woohoo:

where we went at xmas our dd was exactly 14 months too and our dd was 4 1/2, to be honest we took meggy on nearly everything providing she was awake including POTC, buzz was her favorite as she sat next to me (i put reins on her to hold her tight) and she had her own blaster! they have signs saying if the rides suitable for over 1 year and if so on she went, the parade for her was the best we put her right at the front and she loved watching

when we went back last week she was 20m and slept more so didn't go on as much bless poor thing i do feel she missed out, oh well have to go again for her benefit

That's great. I just want us all to be able to go on the odd ride as a family and not always have one of us on buggy duty. Nice to do things together where possible.

We have always ridden the following together post 1 year:

Train, Horse Drawn Streetcar, Phantom Manor, Steamboat, Pirates of the Caribbean, Peter Pan, Pinocchio, Snow White, It's a Small World, Storybookland Canal Boats, all the walk through attractions, and Buzz Lightyear.

The reigns are an absolute must for that age (we used them on our eldest until age 3.5!)

Excuse my ignorance, but what does the term "reigns" refer to regarding little kids? Is it a kid-controlling harness of some sort? Available in children's shops? Maybe there's a different term used for the same product in the U.S.? I have a 6-month-old who will be 1 and a half next time we visit a Disney park (WDW next time). Thanks.

Hi BigAWL - they are indeed the harness where you can keep your kid on a leash. Some people give us funny looks (our 2 YO still is in hers at parks), but it saves them getting seperated and gives me something to hang onto on the rides.

Hi,

On our trip last yr our eldest was 4 and our youngest was almost 1 and we found that there was rides she could go on but alot she couldnt but we didnt find it much of a problem we did use the parent swap thing but alot of the time our eldest and daddy just went on rides while our youngest and me went off exploring.

This year we are going back in october and our eldest will be 6 and youngest 2 so she will be into it so to speak alot more.

You will all throughly enjoy it though am sure ... :goodvibes
