14 Days of Gluttony AKA Doing Free Dining Again! COMPLETE!

Ohhhhh, Alessio - I want one of him! Cute! We love the pizza at Via Napoli - it is definitely on our repeat list.

I'm fascinated by Boatwrights since you don't see many reviews and the food looks very good - especially your choices. I think the photos of your pork chop, grits, and onion rings may look better than it tasted. At least the cornbread and dessert were awesome!

I was very happy to read all of your updates! :)

We enjoyed Boatwrights. We were not sure what to expect from reviews.

Alessio was great, and so determined to do a good job he was putting a lot of extra pressure on himself. And he certainly was very easy on the eyes ... :rolleyes1

We really enjoy Boatwright's, we've always had delicious meals and great service there. The pork chop was definitely the star of my plate. The grits were good, but a little bland, at least for my taste. I probably should have asked to sub the mac and cheese instead but I didn't think of it at the time. The onion rings were meh, I only had a bite and then left them. Hubby ended up polishing them off, he loves onion rings and he's not too picky about them, lol.

We enjoyed Boatwrights. We were not sure what to expect from reviews.

I'm happy to hear from another Boatwrights fan! We weren't sure about it either the first time we went, but we ended up being very pleasantly surprised and we've gone back every time we're at the World. :thumbsup2

Great reviews so far! Thanks for sharing! Oh, and I'll taken an Alessio to go please.....

Joining in a little late, but I'm here! Loving the reviews :)

It's never too late to join in, welcome! :goodvibes

Thanks so much! Lol, I think if Alessio was on the menu there would have been a long line of ladies waiting to place an order. He got a lot of appreciative looks from most of the female guests I could see. ;)

Enjoying your reviews.

Thank you and welcome!

We had originally planned to go to HS for Fantasmic that evening, but the weather turned nasty with thunderstorms that were supposed to last all night. We decided we'd seen Fantasmic enough times that missing it this time wasn't going to break our hearts. We'd rather not watch it in the rain. We put on our ponchos once the rain had eased and made the short walk to POR for dinner at Riverside Mill again. While we enjoy the food court at POFQ, we both agree that Riverside's version is better. We were both craving a burger tonight. :thumbsup2

DH had his bacon cheeseburger with fries (pasta salad was another option) and plenty of toppings from the toppings bar. He had chocolate milk to drink and very sensibly chose a fruit cup for dessert. He gives his meal 3-1/2 out of 5. He enjoyed the burger and fries, but said the fruit cup had a lot of mushy grapes and under ripe melon and he hates that.

I had the same, although I didn't load on as many toppings as DH, lol. I also had chocolate milk to drink and as I am never sensible when it comes to dessert, I had the red velvet cake again. ;) I give my meal a solid 4/5 as I really enjoyed my burger and my cake was lovely. Sometimes it pays to go for the unhealthy choice. :rotfl2:

The burgers were delicious, juicy and well cooked. The fries were also very good, I always enjoy the fries at Disney. Must be the pixie dust. pixiedust:

Our meals used 2 counter service credits and would have been $35.29 OOP.

We were at MK for park opening that morning and had a blast riding all our favourites. We had a lunch reservation at Liberty Tree Tavern that we were both looking forward to. The menu is very simple, filled with the type of home cooked comfort foods that my DH loves.

We were seated in the Ben Franklin room and we had a wonderful server. Her name was Caitlyn and she told us she had just celebrated 25 years with Disney. She was friendly, helpful and seemed to really enjoy her job. She was everything a Disney CM should be! :thumbsup2

We started by requesting some dinner rolls. Thanks to the Dis, I know that you have to request these at lunch time as they're not automatically brought to your table. These are served warm, are slightly sweet and really lovely when spread with the butter that accompanies them. DH particularly enjoyed them.

On to the entrees!

lttpilgrimsfeast.jpg

DH chose the Pilgrim's Feast: traditional roast turkey with herb bread stuffing, mashed potatoes, green beans and gravy. Frank absolutely loved this meal and ranks it as his favourite of the trip. The turkey breast was moist and flavourful, the mashed potatoes were creamy and the green beans were tender-crisp. He said the stuffing was tasty, but he prefers mine (I make it with sausage meat). He still loved it though and ate every bite. 5/5

lttpotroast.jpg

I had the New England Pot Roast: braised beef in a cabernet wine and mushroom sauce and served with mashed potatoes and garden vegetables. This is my favourite entree here and I get it every time. The beef is fork tender and perfectly seasoned, the vegetables are tender and flavourful and the gravy is rich and adds real depth to the meal. My only complaint this time is that my portion contained a lot of fatty pieces so I was only able to eat about half the meat. I won't eat a piece of meat if I even think there might be some fat in it. None the less, I still really enjoyed this as it was well cooked and well seasoned. 4/5

On to dessert!

lttchoccake.jpg

DH chose the Martha Washington's cake: rich chocolate cake layered with coffee chocolate icing. DH couldn't taste any coffee in the icing, but he said the chocolate had a lot of depth and richness which I suspect is due to the addition of the coffee. He loved this and it soon disappeared. 5/5

lttogtoffeecake.jpg

I had the Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake: vanilla cake with a gooey toffee filling, vanilla ice cream and caramel sauce. I get this every time we visit LTT. Every time I say I'm going to try something different but when dessert rolls around I find myself ordering it again, lol! This is absolutely decadent, warm, rich and sweet and utterly addicting (obviously). :lmao: Highly recommended! 5/5

After our dessert, we experienced some wonderful pixie dust thanks to our fabulous server. I had noted on all our ADR's that we were celebrating our 30th anniversary and although I never expect anything from it, Caitlyn had a wonderful surprise for us. She came to our table ringing the dinner bell and announced that we were celebrating our 30th anniversary and gave us a beautifully wrapped present. When I unwrapped it, this is what I found:

This beautiful ornament is hanging on our tree right now. :thumbsup2 It was a wonderful, completely unexpected surprise and totally made our day. Our whole experience at LTT was awesome and we'll definitely be back! :goodvibes

This meal used 2 table service credits and would have cost $59.04 OOP.

Up next: Dinner "around the world" at the Epcot F&W festival.

I can totally relate to this statement!!! :thumbsup2

Those burgers certainly look tasty - especialy with the bacon!

I had no idea that the rooms had names. Which room were you in that was the Ben Franklin room?? We had Caitlyn as our LTT server the time before last and really liked her.

Ha! I learned the same thing on here and it came in handy last time!

Glad to see a well deserved perfect score!! I am a huge fan of this dessert!

That is completely awesome about the recognition of your milestone anniversary and the beautiful ornament!! That was very gracious of them and it is stories like this that really reinforce the magic that is Disney!

I am all caught up on your reviews as well! :thumbsup2

What a great touch of pixie dust from LTT! Definitely why Disney is Disney! Super special! :cloud9:

What a beautiful surprise from LTT. It is on my list to try on our next trip.

Everything looks amazing! Glad your trip was good! (And tasty!) :goodvibes. Happy anniversary:lovestruc

I'm so sorry to have been MIA for so long but I got caught up in the busy-ness of the Christmas season and then have been dealing with illness as well. I had a gastro virus all through the first part of December and then my DH woke up Christmas day feeling awful, sore throat, headache, cough, extreme fatigue, etc. I came down with it on New Year's eve and am only now starting to feel somewhat human again. I can't believe how long this thing hangs on!! Anyway, if anyone is still reading or still interested, I'll continue with the reviews very soon!

My best to everyone in 2013!

We were blown away by it! Our anniversary was recognized in a few other places but it was usually with a candle in our dessert or a card. Those things are lovely, but this was completely unexpected and was very special. :lovestruc

Regarding the Ben Franklin room; if my memory is correct (and it may not be, lol) if you take the stairs to the left (looking in from the entrance), it's one of the first smaller rooms you come to. It had his spectacles and a number of his inventions on display as well as a kite hanging in the corner. We've also sat in the Betsy Ross room, which is on the other side of the restaurant. It has her portrait and an early American flag on display.

I am all caught up on your reviews as well! :thumbsup2

Subscribing! Love your reviews!

Thanks so much and welcome!

I am chiming in. I love your review and we are eating at a lot of the same places you did. Glad you are all better now.

More please!:hyper: You've reviewed some of the places and exact meals that I've already eaten, so I have a feeling that I'm going to agree with you on the places I haven't tried. I too was unable to remember to take pics before I ate my food. Once I started I couldn't be bothered to stop for one. Oh well...maybe next time.
