14 Day Ticket Start Date

Ok so last year we went for 14 nights, which was no problem, but this time we're going for 16 nights, starting on 7th July. The travel agent asked us which day we would like our 14 day Disney tickets to start on and we said the 9th. This date has been printed on our ticket voucher, however when we get to our hotel will we be able to redeem the tickets straight away on the 7th or will we have to wait until the 9th? I was not sure, thinking about it, if we did get our tickets on the 7th, would they be valid for 14 days from the 7th, or are they valid for 14 days from day of first use? I can't seem to find anything that confirms an answer.

I think it's usually 14 days from the date of your first use.

The tickets will be valid for 14 days from the date you first use it. So, if you first use it on the 7th, your ticket will be able to be used up to and including the 20th.

I can't understand why the travel agents would ask you for a start date?? surely if you have bought the tickets you can start activating them when you want to,nothing to do with the TA- i have never heard of having to give a start date before

I can't either...a few websites i've used in the past have asked us for a date...ridiculous....the 14 days start from when you first use it - i don't even think they'd look at the date to be honest..all you can do is try it....

yeah i dont understand it, when i look at theme park tickets, they always want to know when you depart, and when you will start using the tickets.

why do they need to know this?

First of all it is definately 14 days from first use,never heard of a TA having to put a start date on them! As for why they ask,basically they don't want to sell you a pass at this years price if you are not going till next year.I have heard of people saying that they are going this year & not using there passes until next year,I'm sure that this would be actual passes though & not the bit of paper that some TA's give out.

Having been caught with this once before we found that Disney didn't have our tickets registered on their system due to a wrong date. This was an e-ticket which had to be handed in at Disney CS for a "real" ticket. Disney in their usual fashion were very good and gave us complimentary tickets to get in that evening and I went to CS within Epcot to try and sort it out. They couldn't sort it out either and this was when we found they couldn't see our tickets on their system so they gave us further complimentary tickets (along with CM fastpass tickets) for the next day and a number to call in the morning to get it sorted out.

Next morning I phoned the number and had to fax through the voucher I had and they then faxed back a voucher to use to get our "real" tickets. These I exchanged at Animal Kingdom and the CM gave us another CM fastpass for the inconvenience so all in all we did quite well out of it and although it wasn't Disney's fault they were very kind and helpful over it all.

Well i'm sure we weren't asked for a start date last year, but maybe it was typed in without our knowledge, as we would only be there for the number of days on the ticket.
The travel agent we use is really nice, but i don't think she's particularly clued up on Disney. Its Thomson and they book all their attraction tickets with a website called 'Attraction World' i think.

I just want to make sure that when we get there we won't experience similar problems as edinburghlass.

Think it should be alright though, i'll double check when we arrive, just to be sure.

Those people are foolish if thats the actual passes they are holding onto. 2008 Ultimate passes are only good for 2008. They wont work after December 31st 2008. I brought my Ultimate passes at the Disney store a few months back and the ladies were keen to stress to me I HAD to use the tickets in 2008.

But yeah, the tickets activate when you first use them anywhere. As the tickest are under Disneys control system, not the TA's who just supply the ticket.

I imagine the proposed date of use is more for the TA's consideration rather than anything to do with the consumer, allows them to keep track of when people are going to the parks and what times of the year are proving to be popular ect.
