14 consecutive nights a year?!

When people say "nothing was available at 11 months", what they really should be saying is: "I wanted to book a category that is very difficult to get because there are just a few rooms and there is a lot of competition and I couldn't get it.
I think they’re saying “I didnt do any research and didn’t buy enough points to have a backup plan if the absolute cheapest option is not available”.

We are in the 1,000+ club and my mom and I have weekly conversations about how we always seem to be short on points. She *claims* that at some point our usage may slow down but it hasn't happened yet.

Summer and Easter are actually slow times for DVC, it shouldn't be a problem.

There are plenty of other options but instead of booking them I'm here sulking".

Maybe the only resort where it could be difficult to get any studio at all is CCV at Christmas. I think that if you are ready to book right at 11 months, you should be able to get something at all other resorts. Maybe not your choice of view.
Maybe any studio, but VGF SV Deluxe studio was already not available for the entire week next summer right before the point chart increases to the next season. I bought VGF for VGF1 SV rooms, studios and 1BR.

I think no matter how many points you have you pretty much always end up adapting to wanting more. You think just another 150 more and I'm good.. and then you get used to the 2BRs and then one year you try the grand villa.. and you're like okay another 300 and the cycle repeats lol.

100%. CCV's 3 was our introduction to the grand villas and it's STILL my favorite place that we have ever stayed on property.

My mom always thought she'd hate VGF and said she thought the Grand Villa looked pretentious. We bought a little when VGF2 came online, and then after actually touring/staying there she fell in love with it because it reminds her of Mary Poppins. Now we wish we had bought more back then, but Poly 2 had just been announced and we were torn. We'll be buying more by the end of this year.

I always thought I'd hate Riviera based on all of the badmouthing here, but then my daughter and I had to stay there unexpectedly and WE fell in love. Touring its grand villa...not a good idea! My mom doesn't feel the need to buy in there but if the stars align (good resale contract + cash in the bank) I'm probably going to buy there on my own (all contracts are jointly owned...just a matter of who puts the money in).

Someday we'll stay in one or the other....especially if we're in a points to burn situation.

That’s why you just never know until you’ve stayed there. We originally thought we wanted VGF.. had never actually stayed there and only had been in the lobby. I convinced my fiancee we should buy RIV instead because we’re Epcot people despite the restrictions and bought it site unseen in person. We stayed at VGF a couple months later and we were not blown away by the studios but when we went to RIV.. we loved it. We got very lucky it worked out like it did but even for places like SSR which is often named resort of last resorts I encourage people to try it before passing judgment on it. All that being said I expect Poly 2 to burn a hole in my wallet 🥲.

A struggle to book at 11 months? lol They are looking for things like the 5 concierge studios or very lowest point rooms - usually limited availability.
I walked a 2 bedroom at 11 months at Boardwalk - Boardwalk view, but I believe it was due to the refurb going on. I kept checking for my first day about a month before we actually wanted to travel, and the 2nd and further days were always there but not the first. I finally caught one and booked the week before my date and walked it forward. I've never had issues booking at 11 months before, except when I wanted a standard view studio.

Boardwalk has been especially tough this fall/winter. I'm not a fan of the way they are taking the entire Boardwalk view out of inventory for a period of time. I think they did that with standard view too. Some notification of doing so and the dates might have been a nice heads up as I'm sure people got caught by that. How do I know? I did.
