Boy was I surprised! I need 2 nites at the end of May (26-28) because then we transfer over to the BW. The only rooms available were Pop Century at $132.19 PER NITE! I'm only paying 110.00 for the BW (thank goodness to the rental points I got from a friend  ). But $132.19?????? I know it's the beginning of Memorial Day weekend, but does anyone have any other ideas for me for those two nites? It will be me, my husband and my granddaughter. ?

What about an off site for those first two nights? Unless you are depending on disney transportation. You might be able to get a better rate at a neighbor hotel. Hope you find something.:)

It's hard to believe the price of the value rooms at certain seasons, but you could always try a AAA discount if any available. We got a rate of $69 for Std ASMo when regular rate is $119.

As for the BWV rate, that's based on standard room view (only very few of these studios available and they go quickly) and you are staying during week days when point values are lower, not on weekend. So Value resort is probably your best bet.

Honestly, this is all of Memorial Day Weekend, you are going to pay top dollar for every hotel on and off site. There is just no way around this. Also, you are booking rather late in the game, obvious due to the lack of availibity. That price, if it includes taxes, is exactly what I expect.

This looks like summer season preferred room rack rate. AAA should get that down to about 104 per night with tax. However the availability for a discount may nolonger be there. To get cheaper you may just have to stay off site...pop century is the cheapest onsite hotel.

This was not a aaa rate. AAA max discount is 20%. They probably got you in on some other discount. When are you going?

The AAA rate, which I called on for those dates yesterday, is $109 preferred room and with tax, it comes to $123.17.

The AAA website shows availability, but when I called CRO, there was no availability with a AAA rate for those dates. No standards were available when I called yesterday.

I would not waste money on a preferred room at a Value Resort.

We were in the same boat 2 years ago, also on Memorial Day weekend. We decided to chance Priceline and got the Radisson near Universal for $30.00 a night with the first try.

Memorial Day weekend may not be bad this year as many northern schools are going after the holiday to make up for extra snow and ice days during the winter. Our trip was postponed since DS has to make up 3 days that week.

We got a standard view room for $68 a night in August of this year (we booked at the cheaper rates last year)

The rate sounds really good to me as well, I paid the deposit right away to secure the reservation.

We are at ASMo Std Aug 23 for 3 nights, $69 per night. It is actually a AAA rate, as I had to read my number to CRO when I made reservation.

Look into the Swan & Dolphin and the Hotel Plaza hotels (there's a Hilton, Doubletree, Royal Plaza Hotel, Howard Johnson, Grosvenor, etc). All of those hotels have transport to the parks. The Swan & Dolphin use Disney transportation busses and the Hotel Plaza hotels have their own bus system. Guests staying at the Swan & Dolphin can also take advantage of having their packages delivered back to their resort from the parks, and also EMH. Guests at the Hilton can also enjoy EMH.

Okay I was looking at the highlighted line in the first quote and there is no way a 119 room would be gotten for 69 with nothing but a aaa discount. However ... Since you are going in August 23, you are in value season which means that the 'regular rate' (rack rate) would be $82 for a standard room so the aaa discount would make it 65.60 or about 74 with tax. That makes much more sense...Of couse I dont know how to make it come up with the actual 69 but atleast now it is close.

119 is the rack rate for Peak Season which is 2/15-4/14.

Look around in this forum and see if you can rent additional points for the extra nights you need. You'd have 2 ressies at the same resort and at check in they may be able to arrange you staying in the same unit.

Hope it helps

Thank you for all of the ideas. I will try the Swan and Dolphin (but which one?) and maybe something in DTD area. However, we had the other option which was to switch those 2 days to the end. Wonder if that would be better..hmmm Keeping my fingers crossed!:wizard:
