13-Year-Old Boy attacked By Man At I-Drive Hotel

According to the 2nd link Miss Jasmine posted the 13 yr old made it up. So now it looks like there is an innocent man out there whose picture has been plasted all over the news. So at htis point I have no sympathy for this boy. Unfortunately, it looks as if the police are letting him off without any charges as well.
LOVELY. Just fabulous. What an excellent lesson to teach this child.

ETA (since my temper is running high today) to clarify that I wasn't directing any of that sarcasm at you, Kasey.

I agree with Zurg's wife. It's so sad to think of why this boy would make up this lie and go to the extent he did to follow through with the lie if the police really believe he's lying.:(

This reminds me of a story a few years ago about a rape or sexual assault that happened on a WDW property (I think). Does anyone remember it? They showed it on a 20/20 type show that a girl was raped... & tried to sew WDW for security issues, publicized & all, awhile later found out that it was all a scam by a girl, & her brother or boyfriend (or both). It was some kind of group that would scam people out of money & I guess WDW was one of their targets. This has been 5-6 years ago & I'm sure I have some of this mixed up, but does anyone recall this story??

Very sad indeed. It could be that this boy has mental problems, hopefully he'll get the help he needs if that's the case.

First, I am extremely relieved that the story was false. Second, I agree that that boy needs a very stiff punishment. At 13 he is more than old enough to have understood the severity of what he was doing.
Third, this story was a VERY important reminder to all of us--such a terrible thing could certainly have happened, even to an adult. We all need to be extremely cautious about letting strangers into our hotel rooms. In many cases it would be easy for a robber or other offender to knock on the door and say, "Maintenance!" and be let right in. :(

Yes I remember this. It was at Caribbean Beach Resort. The girl had her own brother beat her up, among other things. I don't remember much else though.

I really don't think the police should let this boy off the hook so easily. I believe that if they have evidence he made this story up then they should go ahead and press some charges against the boy so that a judge can make the boy go to counseling. To make up a story like this that young man must have a lot of problems and needs and counseling might make a difference for him.

I believe counseling should be required as well. I would not just "leave'' it up to the parents. I would think they could make some sort of deal where couseling is required in exchange for not pressing charges. If the family did not hold up their side of the bargain- suffer the consequences.

Every time a false report of sexual assault is filed it makes it much harder for those who are truely assaulted to be believed.
