Just got a mailer offer indicating that if I renew my annual I get at 15% discount and it's for 13 months. Anyone else get this? I haven't called yet so we'll see if it holds, if it does I'll be pleasantly surprised. I kicked myself earlier this year for not buying a 13 month pass to activate at a later time when I needed it.

Edited for a typo...I had put 16 months and it's a 13 month extension.

Theres a thread on the Misc dvc forum that a CM told him to wait to renew as he would be better off. I wonder if thats what they were talking about??

That could be it. Is there a promo code or some special number to call on there?

They extended the 13 month promo for renewals so everyone would get a chance at the 13 months. I bought ours just prior as well and was a little annoyed at missing the chance. I'm sure I was far from the only person who had that reaction when it came out just after buying a 12 month AP for the same price.

There's a phone number to call and I'll post the outcome but I'm guessing the 15% is the standard DVC discount. I'm hoping the 13 months is accurate, it would open up August for us.

We renewed at the end of May while we were there and received the 13 month pass, I had seen the deal for the extra month when it came out last fall and figured we were out of luck since we were only half way through our pass. Then they extended it and new passes got the extra month through January (I think) and renewals could get the extra month through the fall, not sure of the exact end but if you are renewing now you should get the 13 month.

Ah the dreaded "up to 60 days". Our platinum's expire 12/28, so 60 days prior is 10/29. So 10/29 is the earliest date Disney would sell us a renewal correct?

Just to close the loop, the mailer I received is just the deal that's apparently been offered and detailed on the website for quite some time. I wasn't aware that they had extended the 13 month offer for renewals so it's still a pleasant surprise. The way they phrased the 15% discount was, in my opinion, misleading but that's sales/marketing standard.

The renewal price is approx. 15% less than the price of a new pass. What's misleading about that?
Just the fact that it says save 15% when you renew your pass before it expires. It's ambiguous to me whether that is an additional 15% or not. Again, just my opinion, others will vary.

I never thought in a million years they would allow us to purchase 13 month AP's to 'hold' for the future. I simply renewed ours and never even asked if I could buy more to hold. The part that puzzled me though was I was RENEWING our passes and wonder if the 'additional passes' would be at the Renewal rate.

If I remember right you could buy and hold but there was a must activate by date.

I any trying to understand the logic of the offer where the 13 months only applies to renewal of the AP and not if you spend additional money and purchase a new one.

Thoughts?

Because they already ran the 13 month promo deal last fall for purchases through early Jan 2017. The problem was there were lots of complaints from current pass holders whose passes didn't expire until March 2017 or later that they were excluded from this deal (since you can only renew up to 60 days prior). So Disney extended the deal for renewals until Oct this year so everyone would have the opportunity to get the 13 month AP for the price of 12 months. The new deal is the platinum plus pass for the price of the gold.
