Anyone contemplating running thirteen half marathons next year?

I'm thinking it would be easier than 26 26's in 2026. I'll be 63 years old in 2026, so 26 marathons ain't happenin' for me then. :faint:

But 13 halfs...hhhmmmm...

ARE YOU CRAZY??????

LOL I'm just kidding with you

I think that would be an admirable goal, and I hope you can reach it!

Personally, I could not do it physically, neither could I do it financially, but I think it would be awesome if you did :thumbsup2

Good luck and I hope you reach your goal!! :wizard:

I think you can definitely do it if you have the right plan in place! And you would become a Half Fanatic (if you aren't one already).

BTW: The Guinness World Record for the number of marathons in a year was set by an Englishman who is in his 60s I think. He ran over 113 marathons in 2011. So if it is something you put your mind to.... ;)

I think it is a great idea! I wanted to do 12 in '12: a race for each month in 2012 but was injured early in the year so I'm not certain that I'll make the goal. Maybe I can join you for 13 in '13!

It certainly is possible if you aren't a new runner.

I gave it no thought... Seems like a reasonable goal and one that is more than doable. Though I would not discount the 26 in 26 either. The toughest part of that would be lining one up every other week. I rand Disney and San Antonio with a guy who was running one a week in 08. By the time SA rolled around in November, he was in better shape than when I met him in January. He learned how to manage his speed and was looking for something bigger in 09.

Oh, I'm sorry if I confused everyone. I'm not seriously planning on doing this. Because, well, as freepixie said, no, I'm not crazy. :rotfl:

There's a colleague in my office who mentioned doing this next year. He's doing it with some of his running buddies. Just got me wondering if any WISH'ers were as ambitious. Or crazy. However you want to define it.

You had to put that in my head!! :rotfl2: I would totally do that, but I'm doing NY next year, and that one is going to be a budget buster. But if I wasn't, I would.

I think it is definitely doable as long as you (general you) train right, stay healthy, and don't try to PR every race.

I am not sure what my running plans are for next year. I was just talking with the friends I travel with for races and we are contemplating making next year a Rock N Roll year. Pick 4 or 5 or 6 events and just do them to get the heavy medals.

I am also hoping to make next year the year of my first tri. This year the focus is Boston and next year it is not dying in the water.

I'm currently running 13.1 Half Marathons in 13.1 States in 2012. I'm raising money for Make-a-Wish with Lou Mongello's group. How did I do the .1? I ran for about 1.5 miles in St. Thomas, VI. Feel free do donate if you feel generous. :flower3:
