I think you're absolutely on the right track! Sticking to the right foods is much easier for me when I plan them out in advance -- if I have to ask myself what I want to eat, I don't always make the best choices.
With life being so busy for everyone (kids, activities, etc), I often cook several lowfat dinners on Sunday, and then can just eat them up over the course of the week. When I get home from work, I don't even have to think about it.
