Please don't ignor the situation...it happened and he would love your support!I would give him a big hug and say "ouch, this has to be horrible for you"....let him talk from there.

The first thing I would do is give him a big hug and look him in the eyes and tell him you are so sorry that this has happened. Get it out of the way and then if he wants to find you and a quiet moment he can, but to not say anything right away just leaves it hanging. Good luck!

C.Ann have you seen him yet? How did it go? How is he doing?

I agree with Ducklite....

I wouldn't act like it didn't happen. I'd say soemthing like "I'm sorry that you had to be in the wrong place at the wrong time, but I'm glad that you are such a good driver so it wasn't what it could have been. Please let me know if there's anything I can do for you."

Then leave it unless he wants to bring it up.

Anne

It's not something you want to be reminded of as it will play over and over in your head for the rest of your life.

When I was 14 my bestfriend and I were riding bikes on the shoulder of the road (this was before bike helmets and we were doing everything correct according to police).

A car full of young people passed us obviously too close, my bestfriend was hit and the mirror of the car hit me (just knocking me to the ground).
My best friend was killed.

That was 26 years ago and I see that everyday in my head.

I'm glad that kid wasn't killed but it will tramatize the driver for years to come.
