12 yo in both edge and oceaneers?

Well, now there's 2 examples! Jinx @anricat ! :rotfl2:
Ha! We must have been posting at literally the same moment! I think it's good though, other DIS peeps can see the different variety of activities. As an aside, I see the ping pong tournament on your board. My daughter did that and won! She got a cute backpack. Apparently a bunch of the boys were rather salty about it and gave her side eye every time she saw them in Edge for the rest of the cruise. She thought it was sort of hilarious. Ah, teens!

Yes, Edge will have a schedule of activities, but it won't be in the app. She will have to go after it opens for the day (usually at 10 AM) to see what is on offer for the day. They have a little board that they write the activities on. I've attached a picture of the activities from the Dream two weeks ago. My daughter just snaps a picture at the beginning of the day so she can reference it on her phone.

My daughter is currently 13 (about to be 14) and she was SO HAPPY when she was able to go to Edge. Once she was about 10, she was pretty much over the Oceaneer Club and Lab and pretty much only went to Edge after she was 11. She'll be able to go to both Edge and Vibe on our next cruise, but I suspect she'll mostly stick to Edge for now. There's a big difference between a just turned 14 year old and a 17 year old and she mostly likes to hang out with kids at or slightly younger than her own age.
Edge events change by the day - and they are posted on a board at the entry. Here's an example from when we visited during the Open House on the Dream in January.

Thank you both! These are super helpful and much more robust than some pics I saw from months ago.

Yes thank you both for the examples!! - I do see where this will appeal to my daughter more so than the OC club activities. On our last cruise was was a month shy of 10 and I think she honestly felt a bit old for the OC club activities then, which may be why she didn't go as much as I thought she would. I am hoping on our upcoming cruise next month she finds a happy mix of hanging out with us but also enjoys going to the Edge area also.

We just disembarked the Wonder. My son is 11, 12 in August, and he received an Oceaneers Band at check-in, but mostly went to Edge. He had a sticker on his key card and could come and go as he pleased. He really enjoyed Edge. He's on the shyer side and I had to force him to go the first night, but he kept going back! He didn't even get back to the stateroom until almost midnight last night due to the end of cruise activities. He really loved Edge!

Please please make sure your kiddos go to Edge on the first day!! Mine was reluctant too, but he went and had a blast for all two weeks of the cruise. Never once went to Oceaneers with his younger brothers.

Can you tell me more about the first night thing they need to go to? About what time is it held?

I’m pretty sure it’s important to be there for the first night, it’s a bit like school everyone finds a specific clique soon enough.

hi Eloise!!

Is it likely an almost 11 year old can go with her 12 year old sister?
That will depend on availability. If your cruise is "full" for those ages 11-14, a 10-yr-old cannot age up. I would definitely make sure the younger one is aware it's not a given until you get onboard and ask.

It's like an ice-breakers/planning session. They spend time getting to know each other and also talking about what activities they'd like to have offered. It's kind of late so everyone can do dinner with their families -- maybe 9:30 or 10pm.

Stop into Edge with her during open house on the first day. If they have room for the 10 year old they will let you register and sign a waiver to allow her in. Last two cruises my 10 yr old was able to join his older brother no issues. He enjoyed Edge but also still enjoyed going to Oceaneer's a few times.

On our cruise two weeks ago Vibe had Ice breakers listed in the navigator, but Edge did not. I just sent my son after dinner though so he was there for anything that did happen that first night.
