I was just wondering if I will have to sign up a 12 year old to be able to attend the kids club activities. Also aren't they able to come and go as they please w/out a parent signing them out?

You will need to sign your 12 year old up to get basic information--name, stateroom, etc. The 12 year old can them come and go as he/she pleases.

You will also get a pager. I think it is up to you whether or not your child can come and go at will. We had an agreement with our ds11 that he had to tell the counselors where he was going when he checked out in case we were looking for him. It worked great for us--he was very responsible.

He had a great time, made new friends, was often out later than we were!

You have to "register" you child to participate in programming. At this time, you fill out a brief information form, he gets a name tag, and you get a pager. At that time, you specify whether or not he can sign himself in and out.

After that, he can come and go on his own, doing his own signing in and out, till the last night when you must return the pager.

How about for a 13-year-old?

And how does it work for shore excursions? If we want to get off at port and he doesn't, can he stay on the ship and vice versa? Or, once on land, can he go back to the ship himself?
