12 year old and P&P Party

Hi all this is our first trip to Disney and we are all excited to go. Obviously I have no clue yet if there will even be a Pirate and Princess party next March when we go. My daughter is seven and I know she will enjoy it but my son is twelve and I have no clue if it's something he will like. What do you all think? Has anyone taken a 12 year old boy here...what were their thoughts did they like it? Devin(ds) is all ready going to CRT because his sister really wants to go and I don't want to force him into something else just because of her as well.

If your son likes pirates he should enjoy the party. The parade and fireworks have pirate themes and are amazing! There are also meet & greets with Captain Jack and characters in pirate garb. My family had a blast and it was DH and I with DD17. Also-there is the benefit of being able to walk on most rides!

We went last summer when DS was almost 14. He had a great time! We all dressed up and he looked really great as Captain Jack. He didn't really do the dance parties, but was happy to get to ride all the rides with little to no wait. He and his sister (16) and cousin (12) all rode Space Mountain three times in a row with no wait.

Seriously, the fireworks are absolutely the best you will see. A lot of the rides are open with short lines, the parade is good (not great - good) and there are meet/greets with Jack Sparrow and characters dressed in Pirate outfits.

And there are very distinct "Princess" and "Pirate" areas, so avoiding all things Princess is easy should you need to do that for him after suffering through CRT!

Whether or not he's into pirates, the fireworks are unbelievable, the parade is great and you can pretty much walk onto every ride.

Thank you everyone for your feedback. I was hoping to hear that he wouldn't be in pain and misery if we went(LOL...you know the horror of being a pre-teen boy).

I guess now I will have to wait and see if it will even be going on when we are there Hopefully that isn't going to take too long.
