12 Hollywood Studios Rumors (A Disney Rumors video is on pg. 1) and (an update is on pg. 16)

I don't see a marvel restaurant in disney springs, because again disney springs doesn't do things like that. It's a downtown district for shopping, food, and entertainment...

T-Rex, Planet Hollywood and Rainforest Café...all over-the-top, themed, entertainment-based restaurants. My family has been to all three, but rarely do we go for the food -- it is strictly for the atmosphere. I could easily see a Marvel "base" at the new-and-improved Downtown Disney (Springs) that included a restaurant and a store (and an occasional m&g...or heck, just have some very well done mannequins or animatronics for photos). I realize that is pie-in-the-sky dreaming, as it certainly has not been brought up in any discussions of the new stuff coming that way....but we all have to admit it would be a hit. In a perfect world, they would have a similar deal for Star Wars, but I'll pretend that we're going to have SW at DHS "soon" (-ish), which would eliminate that need. But with no park presence allowed for Avengers, I'd love to see them fill in a space at the new Springs for this property that is a merchandising dream. They can start the menu with shawarma!

[I've seriously got to spend less time daydreaming about what COULD happen at WDW if they would just trust me with a billion dollar budget and a construction crew -- ha!]

I think as long as Universal has the rights to marvel, Disney will keep them away from Disney World. While the Marvel themed restaurant / store at DTD is doable, I question whether they would do it. I'm sure Disney is happy they get some amount of revenue out of Universal, but they don't want to send people there actively. Having a Marvel presence in WDW would seem to encourage people to seek out Marvel at Universal. Sure, there might be some reciprocation of people coming from Universal, but it will mostly be one-directional and not in Disney's favor.

For all the folks that root for Disney/Marvel park team up, you should focus your light on DLR. THAT'S the place that should have Marvel rides coming.

I couldn't agree more. Right now the only place getting marvel attractions is Hong Kong with Iron Man. Disneyland has meet and greets but they should have or be getting a ride as well. Like you said I just don't see Disney bringing the avenger characters into WDW at all. Guardian of the galaxy will be coming out soon and if that is a major hit i could possibly see something with that but with the contracts and money with universal its easier for disney to just let it be.

(Original Rumors) (see the end of the post for the New Rumors)

1. Crush Coaster (would replace the Backlot tour/Warehouse) - It will in fact be like the one in France. I’m still holding out hope that they do a Wall E or Up ride instead though.

2. Monsters Inc family ride (would replace the Backlot tour) This one is like the family one in California.

3. The Incredibles thrill ride (would replace the Backlot tour) This ride will be like Spiderman one in IOA. It sounds really cool.

4. Pizza Planet (replaces Studio Catering and Honey I Shrunk the Kids Play area) Finally a true version to what everyone has seen in the original Toy Story movie.

5. Indiana Jones ride (Dinosaur-like one) (replaces the stunt show) Is supposed to be like the California one. I’ve only seen videos of the ride, but it is a lot like Dinosaur at Animal Kingdom.

6. Indiana Jones ride (Rollercoaster) (replaces the stunt show) I’ve heard it would be an indoor version of the France one, but less scary.

7 Indiana Jones warehouse restaurant (replaces Backlot Express)

8. Star Wars Meet and Greet (replaces ABC sound studio)

9. Star Wars Muppet 3d show (replaces Muppet Vision 3d)

10. Mos Eisley Cantina (replaces old Pizza Planet and Mama Melrose)

11. Rebel Blaster ride (replaces set pieces on the left side of the park) it’s a cross between Toy Story and Buzz Lightyear.

12. Star Wars stunt show (replaces Lights, Motors)

(New Rumors)

Frozone treats - It would go where the coke bottles are currently in Pixar Place. I guess from the title, it will serve ice cream and other frozen treats.

Streets of America - I’ve heard that it may all be transformed into a giant Darth Mall like the ones they have during Star Wars Weekend. I’m guessing this will cut down on the cost of creating a Star Wars section. Because all they need is to do is put up walls in front of the current structures.

Ackbars Snack Bar - I’m not sure what they sell their, but this has been mentioned as a possible snack place in Lucas Land.

Dagobah swamp - Echo Lake would be changed to look like the swamp in Empire Strikes Back, complete with a half sunk x-wing.

Other’s that probably won’t happen that I’ve heard about recently

Aladdin Carpet Coaster
Frozen Show
Rapunzel Show

That darth mall idea sounds terrible. Another cheap thing disney would do.

As for the frozen show I definitely think that could happen, it's been rumored and it makes sense I wouldn't be opposed to a new show in DHS. I don't think the carpet coaster would happen because they have the carpets in MK.

I think that AK and DHS have low ride counts as they were never designed to have a large number of rides.
Animal Kingdom has the two walking trails plus the other animals around the Tree of Life therefore rides take second place to animals. But I agree it needs more to keep people in the park into the evening.

The original Disney-MGM studios backstage tour took 2-3 hours as the tram went around the old residential street then the city streets (which are now walk-around areas) then you did a walking tour of the soundstages (which are no longer used so house TSMM and other attractions). Unfortunately now it isn't a working studio any more they need to invest in new attractions to bring the park up to date. and demolish the old studio tour section, maybe keep and expand the walk-though with the submarine water flood but there is nothing worth seeing on the tram anymore!

When was the backlot tour a 2-3 hour attraction? It wasn't in 99 when I worked there nor my first time riding in 97...

You are not entirely right. WDW can't use any characters the are being used at Universal until Universal decides to give up those rights. Disney will never pay a dime for them but when Universal decides it's no longer in their interest to maintain and advertise attractions that can only be used in one park and not all their others around the world they will give up the rights and paying Disney money that Disney is using to develop Marvel attractions in their parks around the world. However WDW can build attraction based on other Marvel Characters at WDW.

Based on everything I've seen, the contract stops east of the Mississippi for the Marvel deal. They can utilize them in the west and outside the US. Essentially Avengers and Xmen and FF are all out, which eats upmost of the available characters.

I do know what the ant man does because I'm not into comics. What I do know I'd splash mountain is based on. Song of the South but it does not matter. It's a greatbride. A great ride can be based on any story and a ride based on Spiderman can stink. It's the ride and story that matters. Universal is paying a lot of money to Disney for characters that can only be used in one park. Universal has to maintain them in the first rate standards that Universal has set based on Harry Potter. Universal gets to set the standards and not Disney because all the contra the states is they must be maintained in a first rate manner and that is subject to subjective standards and not objective standards. After all as many have said on the boards Six Flags does not maintain DC characters anywhere near the standards Disney and Universal have but it's not worth the fight for DC because it's hard to fight what is first rate. On the other hand at Universal all anyone has to look at is are the Marvel rides and attractions up to the same standards as Harry Potter. As long as they are Universal is following that portion of the contract and if they fall in comparison to Harry Potter Universal would be in violation. I think everyone here would agree with that. Next Universal has to keep advertising Marvel and sell a certain amount and pay fees according to the contract. I expect Universal to follow the contract the fully until they decide it's no longer in their interest and if Universal is seriously interested in having the worldwide presence Disney has then it is not in their interest to keep the Marvel rights just for one park.

Please if I am wrong explain why I am. Why would a company want to keep the rights and advertise the attractions when Disney will be advertising them and having attractions based on the characters all over the world, Paris, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Shanghai and Anaheim. Additionally how much longer will it be until India, South America and or Africa get their own Disney Park. Universal will eventually give up the rights because it's in their best interest to develop and maintain a consistent product.

Could it happen eventually? Sure... But not for at least a decade, probably longer. Why? Because the films are popular.... Why would they waste the money to re-theme it?

Disney doesn't let their characters be used outside Disney World or their parks. If they want to promote a movie they will always do it on property. They would never lower their standards and allow them to appear at a local supermarket.

Um that's just incorrect. For example, Disney has had costumed characters at parades in Chicago and NY.

Oh yes, something featuring regional favorites from around the country would be fun. Maine Lobster rolls, Philly Cheesteaks, Jambalaya, Memphis BBQ, Chicago Pizza / beef sandwiches, Texas Style brisket, Green Chiles from New Mexico, Salmon from the Pacific Northwest.

I think it would make perfect sense to move some of the food trucks to that space. It's a well known fact that the CS options at DHS are lacking. This would be an appropriate themed addition to that space and add more CS options to the park.

Where are these coming from? What's the source?

Ok but disney isn't going to have their characters in a local walmart that is what they are discussing. Not big parades in Chicago.

Yes very true... Just wanted to make sure the correct info was out there is all. They have property holdings on NY and Chicago so their involvement makes sense

Someone brought up that Disney should promote new movies or products in the stores by having characters there and Disney would never do something like that

No DTD is building a good truck park the food trucks will stay there not be relocated.
