12 Hollywood Studios Rumors (A Disney Rumors video is on pg. 1) and (an update is on pg. 16)

When was the backlot tour a 2-3 hour attraction? It wasn't in 99 when I worked there nor my first time riding in 97...

Although I can't remember the exact date, shortly after MGM opened, my wife and I went on this attraction. Not sure if it was 3 hours, but it was very long and very boring -- well over an hour. It left such a sour taste in our mouths, that we never went on it again until Nov, 2013. As I said, this was very shortly after it opened. Within a few months, according to the Florida media at the time, they had so many complaints about the length, they split the tour into two attractions. From what I remember reading in the local papers, one part encompassed a walking tour through the sound stages, etc. The other part was the actual ride through the streets. This was years ago, and like I said, we only went on it that one time.

Just posted in news roundup thread:

I haven't been around much lately and I extend an apology to Rteetz for leaving him alone to do the rumor board, although you have done a GREAT job. Anyway I have a friend ( mock me and say im wrong I don't care im just posting what he tells me) who is pretty reliable when it comes to Disney stuff. He was pretty spot on about Disney Springs before they announced it and has been pretty accurate about other things stuff mostly relating to Walt Disney World. So here is some stuff I have "collected" for the post.

1. Frozen stage show is starting to look WAY more likely for Hollywood Studios. Its going to be based on how the Frozen stuff this summer does. Either a new show or possible extend the Sing-A-Long performance in the theater at the back of the parks. The Frozen wonderland is also planned to stay, possibly, if all goes well.

2. Big Thunder Mountain on track to receive the treatment Disneyland just got next year. It wont take near as long though since the track was replaced not to long ago.

>>>>>>3. Now take this as you may and bash me to your will but apparently the plans for Star Wars Land at Hollywood Studios are more solid then people are thinking. What it looks like is the land gets 3 new rides. Hoth, Endor, and Tattonie are all on the slate with one area not really solid. I guess they are waiting for the new movie.

4. Magic Kingdom new fireworks in 2016 moving full steam ahead.

5. Reflections of Earth is actually being considered for replacement. Yep not joking. The show is 14 years old so something new wouldn't be bad.

6. The yeti is partially working at Animal Kingdom. Apparently is arm is moving. This is said my multiple people and a couple cast members said he is receiving work after park closing.

(Original Rumors) (see the end of the post for the New Rumors)

1. Crush Coaster (would replace the Backlot tour/Warehouse) - It will in fact be like the one in France. I’m still holding out hope that they do a Wall E or Up ride instead though.

2. Monsters Inc family ride (would replace the Backlot tour) This one is like the family one in California.

3. The Incredibles thrill ride (would replace the Backlot tour) This ride will be like Spiderman one in IOA. It sounds really cool.

4. Pizza Planet (replaces Studio Catering and Honey I Shrunk the Kids Play area) Finally a true version to what everyone has seen in the original Toy Story movie.

5. Indiana Jones ride (Dinosaur-like one) (replaces the stunt show) Is supposed to be like the California one. I’ve only seen videos of the ride, but it is a lot like Dinosaur at Animal Kingdom.

6. Indiana Jones ride (Rollercoaster) (replaces the stunt show) I’ve heard it would be an indoor version of the France one, but less scary.

7 Indiana Jones warehouse restaurant (replaces Backlot Express)

8. Star Wars Meet and Greet (replaces ABC sound studio)

9. Star Wars Muppet 3d show (replaces Muppet Vision 3d)

10. Mos Eisley Cantina (replaces old Pizza Planet and Mama Melrose)

11. Rebel Blaster ride (replaces set pieces on the left side of the park) it’s a cross between Toy Story and Buzz Lightyear.

12. Star Wars stunt show (replaces Lights, Motors)

(New Rumors)

Frozone treats - It would go where the coke bottles are currently in Pixar Place. I guess from the title, it will serve ice cream and other frozen treats.

Streets of America - I’ve heard that it may all be transformed into a giant Darth Mall like the ones they have during Star Wars Weekend. I’m guessing this will cut down on the cost of creating a Star Wars section. Because all they need is to do is put up walls in front of the current structures.

Ackbars Snack Bar - I’m not sure what they sell their, but this has been mentioned as a possible snack place in Lucas Land.

Dagobah swamp - Echo Lake would be changed to look like the swamp in Empire Strikes Back, complete with a half sunk x-wing.

Other’s that probably won’t happen that I’ve heard about recently

Aladdin Carpet Coaster
Frozen Show
Rapunzel Show

The problem is that little...if anything...on this list passes the common sense test.

And if things don't pass...they never see the light of day

Hmmm...According to a family who is a CM Cars is supposed to happen. At least all of the stunt show is supposed to be replaced as a Cars theme

I really hope they have some HUGE plans for HS. It has really become a huge modge podge! I feel that they have lost their way with this park. There is so much that can potentially be done here to get it back to a great Disney park! I for one am really hoping on a HUGE expansion to Pixar Place, I agree that Cars land is not happening, too many people didnt want the duplicate here in FL. The possibilities are endless for Pixar place, and lets face it, this is what kids today are obsessed with, they have no idea what Honey, I shrunk the kids even is! The entire park needs an overhaul. Besides Sunset Blvd. (which can use some updating as well) there is not much to be seen there. Hope they make it great!

If I am remembering correctly, it was a tour and behind-the-scenes look at the making of a Bette Midler short film, The Lottery. You'd see the film, then see where and how it was made. I was in high school at the time, and I thought it was interesting, but it was long and not worth repeat visits.

Of course this was back when TV shows and films were still being made at the studios, so that was cool in and of itself.

Why would they build anything related to The Incredibles? It really didn't/doesn't have that kind of drawing power.

We'll have to agree to disagree. There is actually quite a following out there of folks who think this is one of the best Pixar movies. Among the Pixar movies, this one has more "action" that could easily lend itself to a theme park ride/attraction....and with a 3D conversion of the original, along with a sequel, coming out in the next couple of years, it is a property that is about to heat up again. Personally, I'd love to see a "stand-up" coaster themed around the Incredibles where the participant is put into the shoes of Dash (running), Frozone (surfing on ice) or Syndrome (rocket boots). Make it a great ride/attraction unlike anything already in the parks (e.g., stand-up coaster, regardless of the "thrill" level) and it could only serve to enhance DHS at this point. Certainly couldn't hurt.

Incredibles has developed a bit of a core/cult following over the years...and it would support themepark material well for the NON-bibbiddi bobbity boutique crowd...

Not unlike nightmare before christmas

In fact it was one of the playsets created to help launch the Disney Infinity...along with POC...the other sets were based on movies that were released the same summer as the set (you know they are kicking themselves for making Lone Ranger a set and Anna and Elsa only Toy box figures).

Plus, isn't there finally a sequel in the works? way overdue IMO.

I'm speaking out of turn again (having not ever stepped foot into PP), but I'm guessing there is a random assortment of video games in the arcade. Would be very cool if most (if not all) of the games had some Disney-related focus -- e.g., Tron, Fix-It Felix, Toy Story Mania (they make it for the Wii, etc., so I'm guessing they could make a stand-up arcade version, too), some sort of Sugar Rush racing game (from the pictures, it looks like there are plenty of racing games in there), Disney property (including Marvel/Star Wars)-themed pinball machines and a bunch of games referenced in Wreck-It Ralph (Q-Bert, Pac-Man, etc.). I would spend a few bucks playing some of these games myself, and I'm 43! I realize their priority is not going to be on a quick service restaurant, but these sorts of things would take very little effort, but with big appeal...in a park that could use little touches like this (while we wait for the big touches, hopefully!).

Sounds like you want DisneyQuest.

The best bit character in Star Wars bar none...

Though I hope the "Wedge Antilles Salad" is on the menu as well...

How about a Porkins' Pulled Pork Sandwich?

A wookie cookie (they're Chewy)

Maybe some AT-ATea?

Perhaps for a healthy snack some Padamame beans (play on edamame and Padame)

Ok I'll stop....

Ok one more, this time a restaurant name. Sarlaac Pit BBQ, serving Boba (Fett) Tea and Bounty Hunter Brisket.
