I got a "junk" email account before I signed up for a new rewards program about 3 weeks ago.

Thank goodness.

Because in just that short time, my spam folder already has almost 13 THOUSAND junk emails in it. That's over SIX HUNDRED per day!!!

None of these are for the free trials, etc. that I signed up for. These are all totally new & different companies. And I have not used this address for anything except this one site's signup offers.

So be sure to follow everyone's advice to NOT use your regular email address to do signups. These survey companies must make good $$$ off of selling your email addy to ANYONE and EVERYONE........:rotfl:

I totally agree! I signed up for a gmail account awhile ago I had hundeds of spam emails before the account was even open for a day!

You should install the McAfee SiteAdvisor toolbar. It's pretty humorous. What they do is visit sites and put in their email address. They make a specific email address for that site. Then they record all of the emails that come to that specific address and show you how many you can expect in a week. They also show you a sample of what you get so that you can see if the emails that you get will actually be from THAT company or from companies that they sold your address to. When I visit those freebie sites, a little thing will pop up that says "We received 182 emails a week from this site." LOL! You kind of know what you are getting paid the 40 cents for at that point.

My husband did this on our computer. It's actually very helpful. When I go to a site it is labled either green (fine) grey (not rated yet), I think there is yellow, although I dodn't see that very often, and red. The red sites are usually the ones like generous genie, that send you a bazillion e-mails every day once they get your address. It's actually kind of funny, because a box pops up saying something like....after we entered our e-mail on this site we received 142 e-mails per week. This site is very spammy.

It's kind of humorous, but really a reminder of why you need to have a separate account for signing up for offers and surveys!

BTW, the DIS is green!
