It applies to us and my dd isn't going to be thrilled. Although I have contacted DCL to see if she may still be able to do the lab as they had told me she could earlier. She just isn't into the "hanging out" thing as they seem to do alot of in OQ....so we will see.
Thanks for all the update list Joy!!:)

There is a Coral World excursion but we are going to get over there on our own. The DCL excursion is Coral World only and does not include the sea lion swim. www.coralworldvi.com

Sorry... I have one more question! Do you know how long we should plan for this if we do it? We are thinking about doing the sea lion swim. Just trying to plan our day in St. Thomas and want to see if this is possible. :confused3 THANKS!

Gina

I don't mind my 11 having to go to Ocean Quest if they have things planned for them to do and not just sit there. I know they have games and such but it is also open to everyone I believe so will they be able to play the games when there or have to wait it out with everyone :confused3

And it better be a sign in and us getting them out thing. I don't want mine wandering the ship on his own. He would love that though and have more ice cream and junk in him to make him sick by the end of the day.

If we have a guarenteed room, is it sometime this month they make the assignments? Also a big thanks to Bubbasmom for organizing everything thus far. It is getting close and I am even more excited.

Not sure if any of you guys listen to the DIS Unplugged, but the podcast team is going to participate in Mousefest this year (Ref. the lastest podcast) and the Mega Mouse Meet is the day we get back into PC. I know my family plans to head on over there straight from the boat. Wondering if anyone else is planning on being there.

We're definitely going. Can't wait for them to announce the event they are planning on the 13th. Should be fun. party: Not sure if we want to do the Mega Mouse Meet but it might be cool to check it out. We've never been during Mousefest before.

NAB, I don't think she'd honestly mind either if they have activities and such planned. But from what I've heard and seen from recent navigators it's alot of playing sports, hanging out. And also, from what everyone has said who's had kids using it the past few months....there isn't any sign in/out system. They're able to come and go as they please. I emailed DCL again and am waiting to hear.....if you go on their web site it still has the old info as of last night. So we shall see.

Just read this on another thread -- looks like the kids club age ranges are changing slightly:

On the Disney Magic, the children's programming will be structured differently. Disney's Oceaneer Club will accommodate ages 3-7. Disney's Oceaneer Lab will be for the 8-10 years of age group. The Ocean Quest area of the ship will be the new home for ages 11-13.

Children who are registered in these areas will find an array of fun and exciting activities to participate in with other children throughout the cruise. The areas are generally open from 9:00 AM - midnight each day, except on day of embarkation, and are supervised by our trained counselors.

To see a sample of activities offered in these areas, please visit our website at www.disneycruise.com > Onboard > Activities > Oceaneer Club/Oceaneer Lab. Please remember this is just a sample list. Once on the ship, please make sure to check your Personal Navigator for specific activities being offered for the different age groups.

Doesn't really apply to us but those of you with those "tweens" will probably need to take a closer look.

We had this problem on our 5 night cruise. My nephew was 11. He was given a choice to be in the lab or quest but was told he can only choose one and must stick with it. He chose Ocean Quest. There is no check in and check out there! There are counselors there but the kids can come and go as they please.

Parents can get a beeper if they want but the kids have to ask for the parents to be called.

I'll be there ;)

For those of us with tweens....I recieved a email once again assuring me that if the particular area isn't full already and if the counselors agree that kids can most deffinately still drop down into the lab. We had this problem with our first cruise with my older dd's and the teen area and all worked well. So hopefully it will once again happen! :)

We're using FL Tours on a 3 leg land/sea/airport transfer and I need to check on the rate exactly, but I think it's gone up since we booked it so long ago (due to fuel costs, etc).

They have their rates on their website so you could check it there. Haven't used them before but they come recommended. We used Happy Limo last time and shared a 20 passenger Hummerzine, which was fun but a logistical nightmare with so many people. We asked for a 9 am pickup with a grocery stop and I think we were at the port by 10:30 or so.

Hey, Joy. Can I ask if there were any other reasons for picking FL Tours over Happy Limo this time? We used FL Tours on our 2005 cruise, and were actually thinking about Happy Limo this time around. Just wondering what led you to choose the other way.

Our thoughts for looking at Happy Limo this time are due to the high number of recommendations for them, their ads touting a relatively newer fleet than their competitors, and their acceptance of credit cards. While we were satisfied with FL Tours last time (we had a van for 7 of us) the vans were a bit on the beat up side and I was a bit uncomfortable having to pay everything in cash on the first leg, and then hoping that the second guy would show up to pick us up. We also had a problem that we'd adjusted our pick up times on both ends to be earlier, and the drivers ended up coming at the original times, leaving us hanging out waiting for them for a bit. Even so we got where we were going in a timely manner, and the driver was very pleasant, so we could certainly use them again.

Deb,
I should learn to read the thread before I PM you. :rotfl: So, refering to the PM I hope that Kenn can be in the Lab with Mia. I know Mia would love it!!

Basil Fox,
We initially started out as a guaranteed room too. When I signed into our disneycruise.com to make some shore excursions I noticed we were assigned a room. That was last week sometime. Maybe keep an eye on that account. :)

LOL Not a problem! I tend to do the same thing! Hopefully she'll that area won't be full and they'll be able to be in there....Kenn would love it too!!:)

I have a question about when the rooms get assigned for a non Castaway Club cruiser. Will the number be posted on the DCL-My Cruise/Reservation screen? If so, how soon do the rooms get assigned? Also, if you get a room and go on different websites and don't like the assignment can one get reassigned?
Do we get documents from Disney before the cruise for the Cruise Amenities to be ordered to be in their stateroom? Has anyone gotten the Bon Voyage and Birthday packages? If so, did you like them and what were the Door Magnets that they say are included in the packages? Can you get the Magnets from the stores on board if you don't order the packages?

The rooms will all be assigned regardless of whether you are a Castaway Club member or not at the same rate. They have started working on this cruise date, but some won't get assigned until much closer. Most will get done around 30 days, but sometimes they need to move people around and you may not get assigned until you get to the port (though usually sooner).

It is extremely difficult to get a room assignment reassigned if you were in a GTY status to start. Especially if you get a comp upgrade, you won't likely be able to switch.

You don't need to wait for your documents to order the in room amenities, they can be ordered at anytime. I have seen the Bon Voyage and Birthday celebration gifts and I personally think they are pricey for what you get. You cannot get the magnets or other things in the package in the gift shops once onboard and I'm not sure that you can get the gifts once you are onboard.

We picked our room so we pretty well know that it is ours. Already know how to get to the room.

We were upgraded to this room the first time around and thought what kind of upgrade is the first floor.:lmao: It is because it has the split bathroom that made it cat. 10 instead of a 12 I think.

We love this location. easy off and on the boat at ports, easy flight of stairs up to the lobby. And with out a port hole window it is nice and dark to sleep. Not really in the room much anyway. And if we are going higher up we do the elevators. We play this game that each of us picks an elevator to see which one will arrive first.

Thank you for the posts on the rooms and the packages. Do the magnets for the birthday and bon voyage packages have Mickey Mouse and the words "Happy Birthday" and "Bon Voyage"?It might be worth it to get these so that on subsequent cruises I could put them on my Door each time.
Thanks, Escha

As I recall one of them (I think Happy birthday) has all of the characters. I think the patterns are on DCL's site for the gifts. Actually, they are hard to see there.

Yes, I agree, they are HARD to see on the DCL website. I even found the actual brochure on another website and that didn't help me either! Oh, well, I might as well take the plunge and get one or both of them! I will think on that!
Tomorrow is 2 months EXACTLY! Is anyone else getting as excited as I am? Also, I noted that there are some other cruisers who are going to Mouse Fest after we get off the cruise! I can hardly wait for that event, too, as I listen to many of their peoples podcasts. I most want to meet the ACTUAL Dis gang (minus Bob--:sad2:). I wish I could have met him. I also want to meet Lou Mongello.
On some posts I have seen Mickey Mouse "smiley" characters. Where are some of you getting those to put in your posts?
Have a great night......Two months and counting......DLady
