12/6/08 Eastern ~ ***CURRENT ROSTER pg 68, post # 1007!

Beerhider where are you staying the night prior? Or are you flying in that day? We are staying at the Raddison and plan to be there as soon as they allow us! :)

Hi frdeb1999!
We will be at Dis Port Orleans Riverside for the two nights before...My nieces are coming (5 and 8) who MUST go the MK!! So my DSs (14 and 15) have agreed to join them in the MK and forgo a trip to MGM (it's called something else now, isn't it?)!! Anyway, we will be coming Sat am, picked up at 10:30! Can't wait!!:yay:

Welcome Disney Boys!! I'm glad you can join us. Your DS (5) will probably meet my DD (6) in the club!

This is our first cruise also and we're up for some meets, etc.

Can anybody recommend shore excursions for first time cruiser family with kids?? I think we will definitely do the Stingray thing, my DD will love this.

BTW, pirate: pirate: pirate: AAAARRRGGGGHHH, Pirate Post!! pirate: pirate: pirate:

Hi alaskanmommy! We did the banana boat on CC last year, and it was a blast! I don' know if there is an age limit....But we only stopped in Nassau when we went last year, and it was SOOOO hot:headache: we could barely walk around. Glad it will be December this time!!
We could use some recommendations too! I know we will probably go on one of the excursions to St. John, as my partner has been there several times for snorkeling, just loves it and want us all to see how beautiful it is!

We can do as much or as little "group stuff" as everyone wants.

On our last cruise, alot of Dis'ers made matching Tshirts (you can use iron on transfers - very easy) and wore that for the group photo. They met at 3 pm up by the Mickey pool for a big group shot. Each family also brought a goodie for all the other families as stocking stuffers -- stuff like bubbles, tattoos and stickers, charms, candy, keychains, etc.

Why do some of you get to book on the 6th? :confused3

You can prebook depending on your status.

If you have never cruised on Disney Cruise Lines before, it is 75 days prior or September 22

If you have cruised on Disney before, it is 90 days prior or September 7

If you are in concierge or have booked the REAS package, you can book at 105 days prior or August 23

All of these are at 12:01 am Eastern time.

Those booking on the 6th are in a different time zone :goodvibes

The people who have previously been on a Disney Cruise are in the Castaway's Club. The Club members get to book excursions, Palo, spa, etc. at 75 days, instead of the 90 day booking window for newbies. (like me  ) There are a few other perks and you can see them by clicking here: http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/cruise-new/CastawayClub.htm

Soooooo, on our (mine and yours ;) ) next cruise we will be members as well and will reap the benefits such as early booking times etc.

Bummer, eh? Oh well, here's hoping some bookings will be left for us newbies!! :wizard:

:cheer2: I really want to do Palo this trip! I hope we can get in.

No, I am a Castaway Club Member... was just confused as I thought it was the 7th but did not consider time difference! I will be booking on the 7th! YEAH! :woohoo:

When I started typing my response I thought you weren't a CC member and that's why you were asking but then I realized the date difference so I put that in there too :goodvibes

We are doing the REAS package so we get to book while we are on our upcoming cruise. I'll have to figure the time zone out then because I think we'll be in Central at that time.

By the way, I leave on Friday for California and the PC cruise! Followed by the 5 night!!

WELL HEY!! Jealous party of one here for the PC Cruise! OMG I hope you have an amazing time! Aren't you the cruiser?

That is a GREAT idea! I have 2 DD's who will be 8 & 6 when we cruise. Both are HUGE Hannah fans as well as HSM :) My older DD is quite shy, but my younger DD will talk to anyone with ears :lmao: I also have a much younger son who will be flirting with all the girlies in Flounders Reef :rotfl2:

Maybe we could set up a "Flat Stanley" or "Flat Mickey" to go around with the kids to learn about each other and where their from? :rolleyes1

Ok, back to Flat Stanley…or as I am going to call him Flat Mickey (FM):mickeyjum.

J&K'sPrincessMommy I hope you don't mind if I run with this.

I got a book and looked at the flatstanley.com site. I think I finally ‘get’ it. This seems like a super cool and fun way for everyone to meet. I was thinking it would be a great idea to have all the Flat Mickey post on our Google group so that as FM moves from family to family we can log in and check out his adventures. Joy, would this be possible? Either that or we could start our own blog on blogspot.com and everyone who wants to post could just have the log in information so that when they have FM they can upload their adventures. Whatever is easier, Joy just let me know.

For those of you, who don’t ‘get’ it let me see if I can explain. (At least as much as I ‘get’ it). Someone starts with a Flat Mickey, which is essentially a picture, and gives him a tour of you family, town, adventures or whatever you think that others might enjoy knowing about your family. Once you are done FM gets mailed to the next family. What I envisioned was that pictures could be taken with short explanations and posted somewhere. That way even if you didn’t have FM or if you already had FM then you could keep track of him as he visited other DIS families. (Is that right?)

How does that sound? Anyone game? I'd be happy to be the POC for moving him around. First lets see if there is enought interest. if the answer is 'yes' then I'll put another post out there with the specifics.

(Now I just have to go take a look at flatstanley.com!!
Thanks for volunteering to take the mouse by the ears....so to speak!:earsboy:

Is the google group something I need to get situated with? Let me know and I can get on that as well. Now i'm trying to figure out our family's door dec's. Just gotta find some time. Can you guys believe it is almost Sept! Lots to do.

Basil Fox....there's a link on the very first post that will send you to the site for the google group. :)

Hi all. I am going on my 1st Cruise Dec 6. I have heard so much about Disney's Cruise Line. I have a wife and 3 kids (8,6 and 3).

I booked a Cat 4 room (not too sure what that means) and was able to cash in my vacation club points for this cruise. That's a story in itself.

If anyone can shed some light on a couple of questions like:

Are the islands really expensive. Do you go back to the ship to eat when you are docked on land? Bring loads of sunscreen (even in December?). You know the basics, that would be great.

Thanks everyone.

Mike

Welcome Mike, or mgrande! :welcome: My family and I are also first-time cruisers so I don't really have any experience to answer your questions but I will say I feel like I know a lot just from cruising the Dis. :disrocks: Try out the Disney Cruise boards and don't be shy to start your own threads asking questions. There are a lot of cruise-experienced Dis'ers full of knowledge in there willing to answer your questions. I know I learned a ton from them. Here's to the time until our cruise flying by........... :hourglass :cheer2:

Hi Mike! A category 4 stateroom is a verandah room that will sleep 5. Because you have 5, this is the lowest category you can get without splitting up your rooms.

I wouldn't say the islands are expensive. I do usually go back to the ship to eat, but you don't have to. I do for two reasons - we usually do 1/2 day excursions and come back after (to change, drop off stuff) and it's paid for so why not!!

You want to bring plenty of sunscreen, even in December.
