12/6/08 Eastern ~ ***CURRENT ROSTER pg 68, post # 1007!

By the way Carol, once things calm down, I will go through my vacation photos and find ones to post to your thread :)

I think I am ready to go! I have to get a new bathing suit but other than that I am set to go! WOO HOO :woohoo:

Ready for Christmas stuff with the Mouse! :smickey: :dancer:
And ready for the warm weather!:cheer2:

reneeaiko! I'm flying out of Seattle TG morning! We'll be at seatac the same day!

I'm so excited that I wake up at night too! I can't stop using exclamation marks!!!!!!

deep breath.... 3 days WOOOO

Well, our dog sitter (inlaws) backed out on watching our dog so we may have to kennal him for the 17 days we are gone. We were not planning that little expense.

Last night my nephew and I danced around the room to "The Final Countdown". Can't wait to get him on the dance floor. That kid has some moves.

cu Soon!

We are flying Alaska Air down, we leave around 8am and arrive at 5pm. What about you guys?

We are having the same situation with the dog sitter (Brother-in-law), he is staying with us while in the process of relocating to Juneau. He is going home for TG, with his wife and family so the poor pooch has to kennel for the weekend (which was planned for). Now he has just told me (this morning mind you!) that he has to go out of town again for work :scared1: , we are now scrambling to find someone to come in for two to three days while he is gone (NOT planned for!)...ahhhh!!

Otherwise we are packing, packing, packing. With some laundry :laundy: and cleaning thrown in there too.

Oh yeah and work...which is should be doing right now. ;)

See you soon!

We are using Hertz:car: and have been assured it is 2 miles from the Port. It also has a Shuttle Service to the Ship and back to the Rental Car office. I am calling tonight to reconfirm. Will let you know how that goes.
Okay, I am among the sleepless......seems I get into bed and my mind can't shut off....I keep a paper and pen next to the bed to gather any thoughts that come as to packing, etc. I have about 4 lists from different sites... hope that covers everything.
Have been putting together all the info for the airplane, hotels, cruise, rental cars, etc. Does everyone bring a big notebook with all this stuff in it? Veteran cruisers.....advice needed......how to manage all the paperwork! I don't want my suitcase to weigh a ton because of it....LOL
Today in Detroit we were afforded a SNOWFALL. Everything is covered. UGH!
I just have to get to warm weather.....:beach:
The Photo Scavenger Hunt sounds great. I also picked up from the PassPorter site a sheet that has the letters from A to Z and each person writes down things that start with that letter. Might try that one on DH, DM-in-Law and DS (Basil Fox)!
Our RED Letter Countdownwill be posted for all of you AFTER Midnight EST!!!!!
Have a Magical:wizard::smickey: Night. LD:cheer2:
P. S. I can't believe that someone in our group is getting on a plane tomorrow to start for WDW:mickeyjum .....Have a safe Journey:tinker: ......:yay: :rainbow:

I have a 1/2" binder with 5 tabs in it, plus one velcro'd large plastic envelope at the back for loose items.

The tabs are:
1 - transportation (airline and limo confirms)
2 - Universal Studios (hotel confirm, tickets)
3 - Cruise (printouts, activities, navigators)
4 - St. Maarten (maps, printouts)
5 - St. Thomas (maps, printouts)

This will slide into the carry on next to my laptop :)

Were you able to find a good rate with Hertz? Did you use a discount code? I currently have a one-way from Tampa with Dollar for around $37, and one-way with Avis (after we disembark) for around $39. (Both are 1-day, small-car rentals). I think these are pretty good rates, but they are further away, right? Anyone know if these agencies are any good? (in terms of efficiency, quality, etc) :confused3

Oh yeah, and what pickup time do you DCL veterans use for car ressies (after the cruise)? The DCL agent on the phone said that everyone needs to be off the ship by 9:30am... is that true? I don't think I've ever seen a ship so efficient at disembarkation before. So I've been using 10am, but I have no idea. :)

Thanks!
Carol

I'm still here. Was out of town this past weekend on holiday. I am excited but have lots of stuff to do to get ready. I will have to start work on it this weekend as I still need to decompress from this past weekend.

Oh and i'm working a sinius infection. Trying to get that to go away before the cruise.

Catch you all later!

If you have late dining, you will likely be off the ship between 8:15 and 8:45. Sometimes it gets later than that, but rarely. I usually say 9:00 am to pick up the car. We have only been that late on a longer cruise (due to the additional luggage).

Hey reneeaiko!

Hmmmm We fly out of SeaTac about 8:45am on Thanksgiving morning and land in the 5 o'clock hour in Orlando. This is on Alaska Airlines. Are we on the same flight or are you on Friday? :goodvibes

I think the dog sitter is handled. We have a friend house sitting a few days and someone else coming in the morning and someone else coming in the evening. Many hands make light work. :grouphug:

One more day of work. (I even did work some today...shocking)

You know what!? I am a huge dork, we fly out of Seatac the day after TG! We are on that AK Flt 18 on the 28th. For a brief moment I was so excited. Oh bother!! Well regardless it sounds like several of us will be closer to the World come Thanksgiving Day...now that's something to be thankful for if you ask me! :rotfl2:

I think the dog sitter is handled on our end too...whew!

Save travels and we'll for sure meet on the 6th.

Last day for DOUBLE Digits!!! That's right today is our "10" Day before the cruise mark!!!!! After this, we will be in the SINGLE digits.:woohoo: :yay:
Thanks to Joy for the advice for the binder:thumbsup2 . I had not thought about a large plastic envelope for the odds and ends. I will get that tomorrow and put it in the binder. I like the tab names, too.
The Hertz rental: I can't remember how much. I will check on this and let you know. I know I got a 15% discount because I am a AAA member and my TA gave me coupons for a 1 stage upgrade on the car.:cool2:
Have a Magical "Double Digit" Day. LD:dance3:

Hi guys, safe and pleasant travels to those of you traveling soon! We'll be going to West Palm Beach for Thanksgiving with my wonderful in-laws. I'm vegetarian, so I'll be bringing my "Celebration Roast" fake turkey!

DH and I are going to attempt to get to Epcot tonight, as long as he gets out of work on time. To get us in the spirit in the thread here, I'll try to get some pictures uploaded tonight, as I think the decorations should be going up now or very soon. It's going to be cold tonight, so I think there might be gluhwein as well! (hot mulled wine)

Hey CheshireChick!! My family and I will be on the same plane as you guys!! We'll be the crazy Alaskans in row 29! :lmao: What a way to spend Thanksgiving!!! Good thing we have ADR's at Raglan Road when we arrive!! We are vacationing with Reneeaiko and her family! Let's hope all goes well with the flights!!
Here's to everyone having safe and on-time travels!!

How funny that 2 Dis-ers wound up on the same outbound flight! This is going to be so much fun!

I am going NUTS here... I have to wrap up my holiday card orders TONIGHT or else my clients won't get them before I leave... I have a newsletter to get out today (separate business) with almost 800 people waiting on me.... I haven't gotten a turkey or any trimmings yet.... I have to pack and shop for last minute items.... I haven't started Christmas shopping at ALL....

FYI I just called and there are still cat 4s available, but no 3s.... plus Sharen24 just posted that there is a cat 2 available, but I'm pretty sure I can't afford that much of an upgrade!

Thanks for calling, Joy! I wasn't going to even call after losing my job, but it's almost a "relief" to me to know there aren't cat 3s available since I would have felt wistful about it.

I'm also looking forward to a more laid back morning that day, since I was trying to figure out the fastest way to get there, rush upstairs, and ask about an upgrade. Now we can "leisurely" get there "around" 10am. ;)

Now if only we get the rotation we requested!

And we did end up renting DH's formal attire, that's confirmed today. I dug out a homecoming dress that actually fits, from my senior year of HS 9 years ago, and that's at the dry cleaners.

Edit:

Looks like we're starting to get into the 15 day forecast on Accuweather (as much as I don't like that site) :

http://www.accuweather.com/us/fl/ca...tner=accuweather&traveler=0&zipChg=1&metric=0

Upper 70s/lower 80s sounds beautiful, especially for how cold it is here lately. Going to be 45 tonight! Which is downright freezing for me ;)

Edit again: argh, DH had to work very late tonight so no Epcot. Epcot tomorrow though!

:cool1: I get more and more excited as each day passes. :cool1:

Anyway. I noticed that had not posted in a while, so I figured I would. Like always welcome to anyone that is new. :yay:

Nothing really exciting has happened here, where I live. So...I'm kind of at a lost of what to say. Oh Well.

Hope everyone is having a great week. Also, if I don't get a chance to post later. Have a great Thanksgiving. popcorn::
