12/5/09 -- DUMMY -- The Cruise Your Heart Desires Most ; )

Thinking good thoughts for you Debi. Have Kev pop in and give us an update if you can't type.

Kevin should be on his way to pick me up right now. I have to be there at 11:30 for a 1:30 surgery.....I'll die of thirst and starvation by then!!!!!
:drinking1 popcorn::

Geesh...haven't they ever heard of 8AM surgery? :confused3

I'm thinking of you, Debi - Good Luck

For anyone who know they are going to be at WDW the week of August 15th..I started a pre-trip report kind of thread:

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=28634086#post28634086

Feel free to join in....I know that the voting is not done but I know that I can't change the date I went with and that some others are going the same week so...that's why I started it.

Great idea, Des!

Our reservations are all made for Aug 8 - Aug 22, no turning back now!!

What a great idea!!!! I guess we may HAVE to go during that time!!!! I want to see all of you again, I would just rather it not be so HOT at the time! LOL!

Yes, you MUST, Stephanie! Come on, you're from Texas, you can take the heat right?

Of course not! LOL! It's the rule of *the office*... You get blamed for all the bad stuff! LOL!
I don't envy anyone that is President!

This morning I saw it for 1.91!

Thats because no one has jobs to go anywhere. Still $2.39 here.:headache:

Thank you Des. Just a little over 12 hours now...nothin to eat or drink after midnight. I plan on taking 2 pain pills and hopefully I'll sleep in a bit tomorrow!

Hope all is going well for you Debi. Let us know how you are doing.

Stephanie does melt!!!:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

I'm home!! Everything went well, not sure how many pins were put in...2 or 3 I think and a plate. I felt fine, that is until 2 this morning when the pain block wore off!! Can you say s***!!!!:headache: :headache: :headache:
It only took 2 hydrocodone,an 800mg motrin and 2 hours for me to get back to sleep. I'm supposed to go back next Monday to see if the stitches are ready to come out, then in about 4 weeks they want to do some type of physical therapy. I have to be able to lift 50lbs on a regular basis in order to be considered cleared to go back to work. The school district does not consider "light duty". Like I said earlier,I don't see me going back to work until after New Years and I'll be out of Sick Time after this week. Things will be pretty tight around here for a while.

Thank you for all of your prayers and well wishes.
Love you all,
Deb

Deb, have you been there long enough to quailify for short term disability? That's what my brother just had to go on -- he has Lymphomia.

I know what it's like to get an income slashed! :grouphug:

Glad you made it home in ONE piece.... discomfort or otherwise - you're FINALLY on that road to real recovery, eh? I remember when I came out of recovery from my hip surgery that I was pretty much... wacked and "high"! They had attempteed a spinal tap at my request / insistance since I wanted to try and avoid the hazard of full anestecizing (misspelled)... however they knocked me out (against my preference) in the end. That spinal tap ended up LEAKING senovial (misspelled again - probably) and I had these terrible headaches and dizzy spats since my neural system was lacking some of that fluid in my spine... supposedly.

Aside from that - it was just getting used to the pain for me and the waiting while I healed. Eventually I started some lite PT ... then I moved on to the end stages of recovery - cutting that cast off my arm and finally getting rid of the crutches. Funny... I got pulled over by a police officer and upon walking up to the car and seeing me driving with a cast on one arm and set of cruthches in the back seat he just waved me off to continue but drive carefully. I passed him slowly on the freeway but NOT really obnoxiously - and I guess he decided to pull me over. THAT never happened before or since.

At any rate, I prefer to look upon these kind of experiences (the bicycle accident/surger & recovery) as things which build a bit of "character" as they "stress" you... so, I hope you emerge from all this OK. Please try to VOID relying upon the pain medications. ESPECIALLY any with a "CO" in their title - or any which MIGHT be addictive. In some cases the pain can be ... severe ... which I hope is not the case for you. And if so - just minimize those potentially addictive medications. They are a real hazard of another kind... KWIM?

At the end when I was nearly fully recovered I took that last month to travel solo for just under a month through europe. I figured I was young and not likely to have more than 2 weeks of vacation from a normal company until a decade of laboring had passed - that last month of recovery seemed as good a time as e ver to take a long trip. Little did I know I would not return to work for a company after that - but instead become self employed for the next 2+ decades through the present. And in general - for a decade and a half I hardly ever "took vacation" as I was working and/or traveling on business everyday of the year continuiously (more or less). Heck, I never even THOUGHT about taking time off to do anything fun.... sigh. At any rate....

Wishing you well for a reasonable and COMPLETE recovery....

Tom

Sorry about your spill. Glad the surgery is over. Do you remember last Feb I had to stay with my DM for a few days. She also smashed her wrist at 90. They operated while she was awake(and talking to the Dr during the surgery) by giving her a block from the shoulder down and the surgeon gave her the xray of the plate with the 8 screws. Amazing how they do that. She was incredible at recovery. The funniest thing about it was they told her to keep her arm raised and to wiggle her fingers, so everyone thought she was waving at them and they all waved back.:lmao: It was comical. Take care with you PT .She just celebrated her 91st birthday Sat and I will be driving out with DS to see her this week.

Getting ready for the holidays. Haven't figured out who is doing Thanksgiving this year.

Still haven't moved my dummy ressie yet.

Miss everyone. Glad you will be coming down this summer.:goodvibes

I'm glad that the surgery is over, and sounds like it went well. Sending out lots of love from all of us and best wishes for a full and speedy recovery.
Let us know if you need anything.

Just popping in to say good morning. Had a better night last night. Kevin told me they put in 5 pins and a plate and that I shouldn't worry about the metal detectors. Well, off to my oatmeal. ;)

Well we're semi-official. I just booked the Dolphin for 8/22/09 to 8/29/09.
They released rates last night for $149.00 with a free category upgrade.

Although it looks like I'm going to miss the 8/15 crowd. Maybe I need to add a day at the beginning...

Miss you all. I have broken two computers since we got back from vacation...boo...
