I was looking to see what's pretty cheap to do downtown. I noticed that the National gallery is opening an exhibit of landscapes (oceans oceans or something like that) but Ansel Adams is one of the feature artists...

Sounded good to me. Along with the cursiery trip to East wing and possibly some other museums on that end.

Although i did tell Tina it would be cool to finally see baby fat pants in person (ie Tai Shan... one of the National Zoo's Pandas)

If anyone else wants to join us, send me a pm.... Probably looking at around 11am on Sunday (since that's when the museums open)...

Sorry I've been MIA for so long kids, been having a time of it since we got back.....mostly at work. We are a small,3 person kitchen,2 workers and a manager. We should be like a small family. My manager and I get along great,we've become quite good friends actually. The other one though has decided that I'm not to be trusted and she has also come to the conclusion that I'm a racist!!! Nothing could be farther from the truth!!! My school is predominately African-American,I'm the only white person in the kitchen. I've lived in an all black community for over 15 years and it was that way when we bought our house! I was raised to believe that "People are people" and there is no difference between us. I believe that this is just her latest "game' to cause problems in the kitchen.
Let me give ya'll a little history. Last year was my 1st year at this school. Same manager and it was also her 1st year there and 1st year as a manager. When I came in,she asked us both "Who wants to be a Kitchen Specialist (asst. mananger)" Gwen said no and I said I'd give it a shot. My job now consists of running the register,doing paperwork,ordering groceries,dealing with parents and teachers,plus cooking. It needed to go to a person who is reliable and she had a problem with being late,not coming in,staying on the phone,etc. She has decided this year that I'm not doing any work! Has tried telling my manager not to trust me and that I'll stab her in the back. I had to take Harley in for surgery Thurs. morning to have another tumor removed from his foot. I left after the kids had breakfast and was gone less than 1 hour. Sharon(my manager) took me aside when I got back and told me not to keep my mouth shut and not be telling my business to Gwen. Seems after I left,Gwen went to Sharon and said 'She had to leave work for a damn dog She could have done that after she got off!" No, I couldn't! He had to be in by 9am for surgery that day. Harley's condition also has me a bit stressed.
This woman knows that she's been on thin ice for a while and I think she's just trying to move the attention to somebody else.

I'm sorry to ramble and put my "business out there" for all to see,but I needed some reassurance from my friends.

I won't find out about Harley's growth until later this week or next.

Hi, All

Quick drive by posting. It's T-day weekend up here - looking forward to a 3 day break where I don't have to go anywhere or really do anything other than cook Sir Tom.

Things are finally settling down here. I'm still working on posting pics to the site - just have the three big days to do. Then, I get to start scrapbooking this wonderful adventure. No firm plans around here for our next travels. Maybe DL at Xmas / Spring Break(to meet the Pirates/ or May (before AP expire). Possibly Alaska on RCCL in the summer (to celebrate Inlaw's 50th) or a roadtrip to Yellowstone or DCL. 2010 most likely going to be just Ken and I on DCL in October sometime (to celebrate our 20th) + some Olympics with the kids and then 2011 will be DCL if they go to Alaska or on the new ship. If they do Alaska - we'll definitely be there and wait for the second new ship. Sort of waiting to see what happens with the current financial situation. The CDN vs US dollar isn't really good right now - hoping it rallies after our election on Tuesday.

K - Was your TOAL cabin a CAT8 but priced as a CAT10? Thinking of booking it for the 2010 trip. Have a fun time with Tina and Kaitlyn on Sunday - the zoo sounds like fun.

Debi - Work politics are awful. Glad your manager is on your side. Just try and ignore as best as you can. The troublemakers usually implode on themselves eventually.

M - Awesome shot. I need to dig up some of mine - I went 18 years ago. Beautiful place - need to go back some day.

Hi all.... I don't think I've posted on this thread yet. We are booked on the 12/5/09 dummy cruise, but are thinking of switching it to the 5/30/2010 5-night double dip on the Wonder. We love Castaway Cay.

It will be our shortest cruise yet, but the first time we've cruised with the kids actually out of school. They're just getting too old to continue to take them out of school especially for a non-TOAL cruise. We'll probably visit WDW for a week after the cruise.

I didn't go back and catch-up as work as been hectic since returning from the TOAL. I did see the pictures of the Grand Canyon - awesome. We're thinking of taking a drive down there next year as our kids have not seen it. Even though it's technically a neighboring state, it's still about about 700 miles from Denver. It'd be a nice drive through the Rocky Mountains and then through Moab, Utah and down to Arizona. I haven't been there since I was about 10 years old.

Sorry it's been so tough Debi. I know your heart is as pure as gold. There are no color lines for you. Management can always spot out the trouble makers, so don't worry about your coworker, but I agree with your boss, be carefull what you share.

Oh my gosh Debi, that just sucks! We could tell from chatting with you what a genuine, caring person you are. Then to spend 15 nights with you and Kev just proved it. Try not to let your co-worker get to you. I'm sure that you're right and that she's just trying to make trouble for you to make herself look better.

We just took Zonkers to the vet on Friday, and we really thought that he wasn't coming home. He's 12, a shepherd, lab, and who-knows-what-else mutt, and he's had trouble with his hips for the last couple years. On Thursday, he wasn't getting up, wasn't eating or drinking, and his breathing seemed very labored. He's also had some lumps and cysts appear over the last year. The vet was a little worried about his liver, so he drew some blood, and he started him on an anti-inflammatory med. The bloodwork came back great, and he seems to be doing a lot better. He's more spunky than he has been in a long time. So God-willing, we'll have him around a little longer.




We're switching our ressie over to the 7-18-10 Baltic cruise, in the off chance that we'll be able to come up with the money over the next 2 years. I already sent off an e-mail to DCL, and got a "Hope this information has been helpful", but really not-so-helpful-since-you-didn't-really-answer-my-question response. Wonder if I'm already branded a troublemaker for this cruise?

Just bumping us to page 1 again. Kevin and I had a really great day today!
We met up with a bunch of our scooter buddies for lunch and tried out a new mexican/latin resturaunt. Then we took a ride out old Route 66 to a place called "Pops". They not only serve burgers and shakes, they also sell over 500 differents kinds of pop!! I saw brands that I haven't seen since I was a kid in Minnesota. I actually had to plunk down my $4 and buy 2 bottles (Bubble Up and Dad's Rootbeer).

If you are planning Grand Canyon, its worth it to stay in the park, great views, no commute/line at gate, etc. But you need to book now for next summer.

have you been to Grand Canyon? I was thinking 3-4 nights would be enough. Am I underestimating?

If you go to the Grand Canyon.... You need to go to Zion National Park in Southern Utah (not that far from the GC). It is such a dry heat that even in July with temps around 100 you can go hiking! It's wonderful! I liked Zion & Yosemite better then the Grand Canyon (I know they are totally different types of Parks BUT, I thought I would throw in my 2 cents worth... )

Thanks Steph. I was originally going to mimic the ABD tour. But, we loved DL so much that we're looking for an opportunity to go back. I really can't decide what I want to do.
