yikes, we actually missed this morning. they tried 2x but the winds were 35 knots the 1st time the limit is 30 knots for docking.

the second time the wind was 30 knots but the tides were too strong. they really, really, really tried to back the ship in. at one point the ship felt like it would shake apart, the glass at the back was rattling.

lots of people are very disapointed, I'm ok as the weather didn't look that great anyway. but of course I have a trip on the Magic next month, so I will hope for better luck then.

bye from the Wonder

Rachael

I understand your disappointment :( Thanks for letting us all know. Our cruise is still very far away but I think it's always good to be reminded that none of the ports are "guaranteed", due to weather or other unforeseen occurances.

I hope you are having a wonderful cruise despite not being able to dock at CC!! ::yes::

We are going on our cruise in July 2004.......we actually
board the ship on the 4th of July!
Have you been on a WDW cruise around that time?
Is the weather usually pretty good?
:wave2:

I am sorry to hear that you were not able to go to CC. I was concerned about that also, as it is a highlight of the cruise, BUT, anything on the Wonder is done in style, so I am sure you will find much to do that maybe you would not have had time for otherwise.

I am sure it makes it better that you have another one coming up soon.

Have a safe trip home!

That's exactly how it was on our 4 night cruise 1/5/03. It actually woke us up from a sound sleep as the boat was shuddering so much. It was amazing to watch from our verandah. We were lucky and had the next day and he made it!
Let's keep our fingers crossed Rachael that we make it on our 1/3/04 cruise!!! Think good thoughts, think good thoughts!!

Hey poopie,
Vija and I were also hoping for a miracle, but no such luck huh? It really sucks that we couldn't dock at CC; I don't particularly care for sea days as everything is just too congested on board. That's okay though; I drowned my sorrows at the dessert bar! LOL
:p

My sympathy is definitely with you!
I thought we were going to miss CC for the first time ever on our Thanksgiving weekend cruise. We were in stateroom 5650, all the way aft, so we can always tell when they're having trouble docking. Through some miracle, Captain John managed to get it docked. We heard that it had missed CC a couple of times right before our cruise. Winter seems to be the worst for missed dockings. But I hope you enjoyed your cruise anyway and that you'll get to try it again.

We, too, missed docking at CC on our sailing in Oct. We were woken to what sounded like the ship was falling apart. I am assuming it was the rudders growling as the captain was trying to back into the dock. It was disappointing, but it still turned out to be a 'wonder'ful cruise. They were scrambling to get activities together to make up for not docking.

Oh, how sad!!! We've always managed to get in to CC, although we missed Cayman Islands twice on Western Magic. At least you have the next cruise to look forward to...and safety has to be the top priority!
Kathryn

I am SO SORRY to hear this news. My dear friend Princess Vija was on that sailing! I am so sorry Vija! I hope you enjoyed the cruise even though you missed Castaway Cay. We missed it once too --- and that was a good enough reason to book another trip!

That's too bad! :( **sending some pixie dust for you next month**

What was your weather like during the other days of your cruise?

We were on board, too ... disappointed, but the captain sure tried to dock us. Give him extra points for making a second attempt at 9:00.

That being said, it truly wasn't beach weather. Overcast, windy, cool. So, next time!

Also, they ran an extra show of "Disney Dreams" and passed out free Bahama Mamas prior to each show ... so that helped! ::yes::

They also had a stellar lunch buffet including shrimp, crab claws and lobster cakes, but unfortuantely we ate a late breakfast around 9:30 and couldn't partake of that!
