Well, I SHOULD still be in bed because I had the day off, but then when I took a sick day last week, I had no more days off. So since $ is always a factor, I decided to come in since we're only supposed to work till 2. (Well I usually work till 3:30 or 4 so it's no great shakes for me). We will probably start to "break" around 12;30 or 1 when lunch will come in, which is nice, but since I have food allergies, lunch is out for me.

Then I have to run home and then run to church where I am ushering at the 4 PM service. It's a fun service -- lots of kids running around and very enjoyable, but I can tell as an usher it's going to be a bit different. Especially since at the end of the service everyone sings Silent Night and lights candles. Tons of people, hyped up kids and fire...do you see my fears?

Then at 8:30 it's back to church for a more subdued evening service. But this time around there are only going to be 6 of us in the choir. And I am only one of 2 women! I don't have the strongest voice and am a good follower, not a leader. Plus we're doing a song that I really don't like all that much.

Plus it's pouring out now and I had umbrella issues this morning. And when I finally got into my office, I realized that I am wearing dark NAVY tights and not black ones (well they looked black last night and when I put them on this morning).

Sigh.

And did I say that I have NO CLUE how many people to expect for dinner tomorrow night? At first I thought 7. DH & Me, my parents, my bro & his fiance & "Aunt" Julie. Being charitable at this time of year, I also invited my aunt & her husband over for coffee and dessert (they are not my favorite people to put it mildly and I can tolerate them for short periods of time). We did this 2 years ago and it worked surprisingly well. Last year they had to cancel due to the heavy snow. Well, back in October my aunt told my mom that she knew when we were having dinner and they were just going to show up! Now I have a SMALL house and a SMALL dining room! So that would be 9. I got enough food, but I didn't know where I'd put them. Then my brother's fiance was going to go home for the holidays. But then she got sick and decided to stay in town. But now my brother is REALLY sick. So I have no idea who is showing up. Guess I'll find out tomorrow night!

Merry Christmas to all and to all...get me the heck out of here!

I know how you feel. Christmas eve needs to be 48 hours instead of 24. :)

Have you ever been really drunk - or taken a pain medication - that gives you that euphoric feeling that "all is right in the world" and if someone said, "I'd like to cut off your head", you would smile coyly and reply, "Wow..what a neat idea!" - ?????

Try to recreate that sensation in your brain right now - and just let the "chips fall where they may".... Just kind of glide through everything - like you don't have a care in the world and you are 100% sure that everything is going to turn out fine - and odds are, it will!!!!

More often than not, after we have been extremely stressed over things, once the event has come and gone we sit around shaking our heads wondering WHY we were so stressed out to begin with! ;)

Hang in there - it's gonna be okay!

Look at the bright side:

1. You have all the food you need...no last minute grocery store trips.

2. No one is sick.

3. Christmas shopping is done. (Right?)

4. You have folks coming over who care about you, plus a church family who cares about you.

5. It will only last one day.

6. You have an umbrella...and, if it absolutely won't work, you can use a garbage bag and make a mad dash!

So, just look at the bright side. I know it seems hard sometimes, but we have so many blessing in our lives that we sometimes forget about. Just be happy.

I like the way you think, Aurora. :) It will be a great day, Liz, enjoy. :) Merry Christmas and again, so happy to have finally met you a few weeks ago.

C.Ann, that was BRILLIANT! And yes, I have taken pain medication that made me feel that way (once with cough medicine that had codeine in it and once when I was in the hospital and they had me on muscle relaxants that didn't work, but I was so relaxed I didn't care!).

Other than my brother being really sick (I will smuggle some juice to him tonight)...all is really not that bad. But it's always good to vent with friends!
