Just finished my fourth month of a fitness boot camp. I've hit themark. I gotta get a couple of new things for the Cruise for me and for the weed that we have a son. Hope all have a great weekend
What is it?
I have traveled widely complements of the Marines (Okinawa, KoreaDjibouti, Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia, Kuwait, Afghanistan, The Phillipines, Greece, Germany,
Bosnia and the exotic country of "Southern California"
) but "cracked conch" is escaping me.
Is this a drink?

As far as I can tell they are beaten up snails and fried. The southerners explained it for me a while back.
P.s my inlaws live in Greece!![]()
Okay, JoDale, this is cracked conch. You know the large shell that people usually pick up and put up to their ear and you're supposed to hear the ocean? (Don't get me started on the actual explanation of this. It's not as romantic.) That is a conch. So they remove the animal (meat) from that shell and fry it. If I remember correctly "cracked" is just another term for fried. I guess the meat would be similar to any other mollusk. I have yet to try it but I certainly will!!![]()
Annette! I was working on teaching a reluctant Victoria ("Mom, the trip is MONTHS away!") some basic words for her trip to Europe (since I can't afford 3 different languages of Rosetta stone and I know a little bit) in Italian and German. I don't know any in Greek other than Baklava, Loukomades, Pastitsio (where's that recipe btw?), Moussaka....you get my drift. I COMPLETELY forgot I could have you ask your DH!!! Things like hello, goodbye, thank you, please. Basic stuff....

Apparently the sound that you hear when holding a shell up to your ear is just the noise of air passing between the open portion of the shell and your own eardrum.
I wish I knew how many more days it was until our cruise![]()
