12/24/08 Christmas Cruise on the Wonder

Brenda,
Are you kids going on this in Castaway Cay? I think DD will like it and want to make sure I can sign her up but if someone she meets and likes doesn't go to it, I don't want her to be too upset.

Exciting news!!! Arriving Sunday June 9th weighing well over 20 pounds I am pleased to introduce Solovet (aka Big Mama:rotfl2:)

We adopted her from a rescue society. She is the most loving wonderful cat ever. We were so excited we just wanted to share the news!

She sure is pretty. More than 20 pounds?!? Maybe she should've been named Garfield! :rotfl2: I bet you are excited. We can't do cats. DS is allergic. He swells. I heard that's not good.

We are done now. We have three kids, 2 cockatiels, a greenwing macaw, african grey parrot, a dog and three cats and we have a 1610 sq foot house:scared1: The basement has ds14 bedroom that's it :>)

Oooh. I like that.

Brenda-

After we got home in January I got curious about the other cruise lines that I'd seen in different ports and bought an "Unnoficial" cruise guide. I think we are way too UNCOOL for Royal Caribbean with it's rock climbing walls, putting greens and such. We are not casino people either. Every time I see that "this is way more than a cruise" commercial it reaffirms my complete and total lack of hipness. So very unhip. Yup, that's me.

Another I have no desire to try is Norwegian and their freestyle cruising. For pete's sake I WANT to be told where to eat and when and what to wear. The predictable life is a relaxing one. I already make all those decisions at home every night. Freestyle cruising sounds a lot like the life I need a vacation from.

I would love to try Holland America Line or Windstar (I think... the book is upstairs... is that the one with the large yachts). We are more lay about the deckchairs with a book and a glass of wine and stroll the promenade at sunset people. Too bad our kids are not! LOL! Maybe someday, when the baby goes off to college in say... 17 years or so. Until then we are probably DCL people, at least as far as cruising goes.

Have a good night, ladies (and Andy). Am off to crack open and unhip beer and watch something on basic cable.

Adrianna

We don't do casinos either. I have never understood why people would pour thier hard earned $$ in a machine, hoping to get something out of it. I much prefer a sure thing.....Like shopping :rotfl2: We haven't gone on any of the mega liners....yet:rolleyes1 I also have no desire for Norwegian and their freestyle cruising. Holland America tends to draw in the older passengers. We have considered Princess, but Royal Caribbean has service, and ship decor is top notch in my book. I'm not happy about RCCL's decision to not have a ship in Galveston full time, but have faith that eventually, they will see the error of their ways:lmao: We are also lay about with a good book(well I have the book) You would LOVE the soloraium. Adult only area with pool, two hot tubs, and lots of pretty tropical plant life. On some ships it has a sliding glass roof so as to be perfect on those not so perfect sea days. This is on the smaller(Vision class) ships. I've heard the bigger ships get even better:cool1:
With little one's if you can afford Disney, I say stick with it. We jumped the Disney ship once we found a port with in driving distance. That allowed us to cruise more often. I remember our very first non Disney cruise.( Carnival) The twins were 9 and we all kept comparing it to the Wonder. And it came up short every time.::yes::

As for the windows, I have no idea exactly how he would do it. He hasn't had to in a very very long time. I agree with you, if you are only going to be there while DH is in school, make it easy for you. And your friendly mover too:worship:

Kinda sounds like they were trying it out and seeing how everyone feels about it. Does affect our second seating dinner though, but someone said that they delayed second dinner seatings because of it. We'll have to keep an ear out for any changes :listen: . BTW, what is the pirate buffet? I thought they had the same dinner in each restaurant.

Brenda,
We are sooooo nature lovers too. Most of our vacations deal with the outdoors. I think I remember them saying they won't change the area too much, kinda like they have Castaway Cay, leaving most of it undeveloped. I would think each island would be my favorite too.

Oh, forgot to tell all of you!!! DH agreed to let me buy my dream camera!! :cool1:  ::yes::  :woohoo: :yay: :dance3: :hyper: :goodvibes He wants me to be good with it before we leave. Waiting to see how much extra pixie dust will come my way on my birthday in a couple of months and then buy it. WOOHOO!!!!

I have no idea about the Pirate Buffet:confused3 I'm not sure why they would need it if they have a themed dinner.

I hope you are right, and they don't change things to much. I am concerned what the locals think about it. To be honest, there isn't much of Oahu that hasn't been touched by tourisum. The leeward side of the island is mostly residential. There is only one resort on that side. We stayed there, and it is beautiful. I'm not sure why Disney didn't attempt to buy one of the several islands in the chain. Like they did Castaway Cay.:confused3

Congrats on the camera! I'm so jealous::yes:: :rotfl2:

I honestly have no idea what they will do. :confused3 I doubt they will either till they get onboard. I seem to be the only planner in the family:lmao:
I hope they will get involved. Last cruise Michael hung out in the cabin watching movies, and TV.:sad2: Lindsey has her best friend with us,and they pretty much followed us around:confused3 I do know Lindsey and I will be parasailing at CC,beyond that, who knows. They better do something though, cause I wanna hang out on SB with DH::yes::

Hey Annette. I think I have her cousin:thumbsup2 Course Sasha weighs in a a whopping 12 lbs. I have spent the last hour trying to find my pictures of her,my favorite was of her laying on top of my desk watching me. They must have been on the old computer that crashed in Dec. I'll have to take some more so I can post a pic of her. I tried tonight, but not enough light to capture her big beautiful blue eyes. Besides, she wasn't happy when the flash woke her up:ccat: Wonder if this means I'll be sleeping alone tonight:rolleyes1 :rotfl2:

Good night ladies.

We have had 3 sunny days in five weeks. The other 4 and a half weeks it has rained every single day. Some days it rains 24 hours around the clock with no break. I am so bummed! I love my new kitty tho!:cloud9: We are going to the mountains for Father's Day and staying overnight. We will probably do some geocaching as it isnt supposed to rain:eek: and then have a nice brunch and come home. Cross your fingers for sun!:thumbsup2:wizard:

Depending on how this cruise goes (we have never cruised before) we are thinking of adding on a small rccl cruise when we go back in the spring 2010. Since we only travel during high season, doing Disney is not always an option because flights alone is close to 3000.00 for us and we do not want to use our points for cruises. Rccl seems to be quite a bit cheaper and makes it way more affordable for us. I have never stepped foot in a casino in my life. I have no desire to gamble and feel shopping is a much better bet for your money also:rotfl2: At least you are guarannteed something for your hard work!:goodvibes

You just need to learn how to play the right games:cool2: I have a feeling I may have to slip into the casino on the Bahamas... I wonder if I can take the newborn with me

Dh likes blackjack. I am sure once he finds out about the casino at Atlantis he will want to pop in. I just want to do the Atlantis beach day because I am too cheap but he wants to do the waterpark package... man is it expensive:eek:

I'm sure the twins would love to do the water park too,but DH is the cheap one in our family:rotfl2: We may do the aquairium, then the city walking tour. ( Gonna get us some cracked conch, oh yeah :hyper: ::yes:: We will save the beach day for CC.

We're supposed to get some with ya! Don't forget. The water park is expensive. I think we will do the dolphins in Nassau and do a city walking tour. Gotta get DD (Victoria) in a picture in front of the statue of Queen Victoria!! She played her one time. She kept going around saying "Off with their heads!!" Mind you, that was in 6th grade.

As for CC....what is SB, Brenda? I know I want to snorkel at least. Will have to go without DD so I can go first thing in the morning to get good pics. Don't know what to do with DS 11 yet. Is there a group for him or will he have to be with us? Always wanted to do a banana boat ride but DH will most likely sing the theme song to JAWS while on it. I think I might like the parasailing too.

I don't want to plan too much. Want to be somewhat spontaneous. It IS our vacation. (I tend to plan too much too often. It can be aggravating. :worried: )

I think I remember reading here on the Boards that Atlantis treats Disney cruisers like red-headed stepchildren at their beach. There is only a small beach segment that DCL passengers are allowed on, and I am thinking that you couldn't use the Atlantis beach chairs and umbrellas. Whatever I read, it was enough to change my mind about going there. Was a few months ago, though.
