12/24/08 Christmas Cruise on the Wonder

Wishing everyone a happy and safe holiday!

Yay! I have all my ADRs set up, too. At least the all WL ones could be booked on the same day. I was tired of getting up at 6:00 do talk dining with the operator.

The guy that moved us from GA to NY has his BIL as his help and every time the driver would leave the room he'd just shake his head and tell us this was his last run. "I'm just not cut out for this man..."

The problem with working for your father is that you can't quit:rotfl2:
Glad you got all your ADRs too. Now we can relax till time to make ship ressies:thumbsup2

Annette, have fun we'll see you when you gt back.

Courtney it was The Royal Dolphin swim. The girls did this in Cozumel. They got to have a toe pish and dorcil fin pull. Also, we didn't have to pay to watch and were allowed to take pictures. In most (can't say all cause I don't know for sure)The"encounter" is little more than a demonstration with guests being allowed to "pet" and give and recieve a dolphin kiss. If they offer a Royal swim type excursion, do that one. It is well worth the extra cost. You actually get to interact with two dolphins and get the dorcel fin pull and toe push. I'll see if I can fine pictures of the girls. Not sure if they were on my old computer that crashed or not.

If I may add my two cents... Blue Lagoon has a dolphin "swim", but it must be booked directly through Blue Lagoon and not the DCL. Not sure if Atlantis has a dolphin swim or just a dolphin encounter. If my kids were older I'd rather do the dolphin "swim", but as hubby keeps reminding me... it's not like this is the last vacation we're ever going to take, Adrianna...

He's probably add something like "so cool your jets, woman!"

Jets cooling.

Atlantis does have a swim as well. Not much more than the regular program. Theirs include using underwater scooters to go swim with the dolphins as well. Even in the regular program they only allow 10 people per time group. Pretty nice. Part of me wants to do the deluxe package but wondering how the kids will actually respond.

Annette....sounds fun up in your neck of the woods. Free food and drink, huh?!? :thumbsup2

Brenda-

I am thinking of you as I hear the vibrations from the Lynard Skynard concert, just blocks away. Aw, people with little kids miss all the fun!

Their is at least 10 free pancake breakfasts each morn somewhere. Their is tons of corporate parties. Dh works downtown so we get lots of invites. I usually attend a couple just for the heck of it but one must never over indulge at corporate yahoos;) Lots of beer/bbq tents etc for those times you just wanna have fun! The parade was great. You can tell we are in a bit of recession though a LOT less corporate sponsored floats this year! I think we are just going to cough up the cash and do Atlantis swim park for Christmas Day. If it was any other day I wouldn't do it:thumbsup2

Oh Adrianna I feel your pain. Anyone with young children definitely makes the sacrifice for personal fun time. I have spent the last 14 years of my life committed full time to trying to be the best Mom I can be but I am really looking going forward to going back to work this fall! I have not even been in a real bar in 8 years:lmao: Dh and I have had a drink in a lounge with snackies but no boot scootin with male entertainment at ten :rolleyes1 in at least 8-10 years:rotfl2:

That is so true! When I used to live in The Woodlands the amphitheater was a couple of miles from my apartment. I would be able to hear the music and sitting on my balcony with my toddler wishing I was there...

Um...boot scootin with male entertainment? Think I might need to move to Canada. I miss C&W dancing. DH has two left feet when it comes to the Texas Two Step. and most other dancing. He swings alright. And I mean dancing, not the other kind of swinging....:lmao:

Look what I found... FOOD

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=886187

which leads to http://www.cassworld.ca/photosmagicfood.htm

and http://picasaweb.google.com/greytgrey/DCLFood

The last one has great pics and descriptions. The main one has some blurry pics and bland descriptions for the most part (yes I can tell it is a pasta dish but can you tell me what else is in there?).

Ahhh... a man after my own heart. There are those who will come on the Dis and complain about the food. I've heard it called bland, unimaginative, prepackaged... I like to think of it as the best dang wedding/banquet food I've ever tasted. After all the chefs are cooking for 2500 every night. And if you can't decide you can order two entrees! Can't beat that with a stick. I personally can't complain about a single food item I tasted.

Awww. How nice of you to think about me. I didn't go however. I have been suffering from a sinus headache for three days. Not infected.....yet. Dale was home and very tired,so we gave our tickets to Val and her husband. We just went to bed. Gosh, I guess that means we're getting old:lmao:

Dale can actually do a good two step. As long as it doesn't get to fancy. We haven't been dancing since before the twins were born. We used to go every weekend. I used to know all the line dances too. About all I can remember now is the electric slide.

Aww Andy found the foodie threads:thumbsup2 My diet will go right out the window once onboard that ship.:rotfl2:

Andy thanks for the links! I will have to check them out. Glad to hear that you like the food Adrianna. I have heard mixed reviews. But we didn't sign up for a gourmet cruise, right, so what should we expect? My diet will go out the window as well. Just hope that I get to the number I want before I get to the port. I had a couple of screws removed from my ankle a week ago so couldn't work out. And then there's the 4th of July barbecue, right? Okay, so nothing more bad except for maybe my birthday and anniversary in the next two months. Back to the elliptical this week!!!

Hi All,

We will be on our 5th Disney Cruise on the 24th of December (Our first Christmas). It will be myself 40, DW36, DD6, and (New) DS6 months at that time.

We will be leaving from the Dallas area on the 20th and will drive there and fly back. Actually, we got luckt because the rental car cost was not bad at all, Now the gas is another story. But it will give us a chance to see the sites, and enjoy without all the rush.

Not sure where we will stay, but i am sure it will be interesting.

Welcome Dad22Angels_AC. Glad to see my little guy will have another playmate (he'll be around 5 months at cruise time).

Hi there, Dad22Angels_AC!

I am also from the DFW area and we will also be driving, leaving on the 20th. We are staying at AKV and going to Universal for a couple of days pre-cruise. We are driving back though. Planning on stopping in Mobile and visiting the destroyer that is there. At least I think I remember it is a destroyer. :confused3 My kids are a little older though....DD 16 and DS 11.

Welcome Dad22Angels_AC

Well, we will also be leaving from DFW on the 20th. DFW airport that is:lmao: We are leaving Oklahoma on the 19th and staying the night at the airport hotel.
Our kids are also older. 16 yr old boy/girl twins. We will be staying 4 at WDW pre-cruise.
I'm so glad you found our little group here. We are having a good time getting to know each other, and look forward to getting to know your family as well.:thumbsup2

You may not have signed up for gourmet food, but that's what you're gonna get.::yes:: Unless you eat all your meals at Pluto's on the pool deck. We aren't gourmet foodies either, but we have never gone hungry on a cruise. Heck, sometimes, I even eat my veggies :rotfl2:
I won't hit the number I want by Dec. But I hope to be in the ballpark.:thumbsup2 This weekend was not a good one for my diet either.:sad2: But today I'm back on track. My tip for not gaining weight on a cruise? don't take the elevators:lmao: But then, they are such cool elevators, you have to ride them once. :rolleyes1
