So as I sit here drinking my second glass of chocolate wine I think 'hm, I should post my trip details, now!'
Here goes...
I'm traveling alone, leaving the hubby behind, to go spend christmas with my favorite aunt, uncle and cousin camping at FW. Don't worry, hubby told me to go and live out my Disney obsession once again.
I left Logan Friday night and arrived in Orlando at 9:30. I always do carry-on only and I just so happened to be the very first person in line at the gate to have my bag involuntarily checked. Thanks so much AirTran!!!!!!!!grrrrrrrrr!!!!! I knew that this would only delay my departure from MCO to Disney, having to wait for my bag at the carousel...
So I finally get to my magical express bus and get on and I already feel home despite the headache from lack of food. My bus stopped at Saratoga, POR and POFQ before finally getting to FW around 11:30. My family was there waiting with the dog. So happy to see them! We walked back to the site seeing lots of deer along the path. It was so refreshing to be walking in mild weather at 11:30pm after a night of traveling!
Christmas Eve: we woke up around 8, showered in the spotless and beautiful bath houses and headed into Mk by boat. Beautiful day! Crowds were heavy but lines were surprisingly manageable! Got some fast passes for Spacemtn and rode lots of other headliners before heading back to FW to change for our dinner at the Wave! Fabulous food! Perfectly portioned! Would definitely go ba k! We headed back to MK to watch fireworks but it was right during the parade. This was the only time I feared for my life other than the flight back to Logan. It was an absolute madhouse and people were pushing and shoving with nowhere to go. People screaming at each other, as well. We kept our cool and decided to just stay put until the Streets opened up again after the parade. We eventually found our way to the backway to tomorrowland. They had to open it up because of the crowds. Could not find a place to watch Wishes so we just decided to take Advantage of short lines for the rest of the night!
Christmas: woke up and got ready for a 10am breakfast at Trails End. We were all stuffed and the walk back required numerous stops at bathhouses!! (sorry) headed into HS and tried new Star Tours. This made me extremely nauseous for some reason... I had excellent pot roast at 50's Primetime. Tried the drawing class at Art of Animation building for the first time. This is now my new favorite thing.
Monday 12/26: headed into Epcot to do some shopping. Also hit up some rides in Future World. We took a break and had pizza at the Boardwalk. Then we headed back to change for dinner at portobello in downtown Disney. Excellent food and bar. Our waitress seemed tO be having a bad day as she did not even seem remotely interested that she And I were both from Maine! We walked and shopped for the rest of the night.
Tuesday12/27: we headed into AK early and were able to get onto dinosaur 2x and safari with little wait. We has a brief incident with a rhino taking her stress out on a truck ahead of us. So that delayed the safari for bout 10 min. There was also a 30 min downpour that we had to take cover from but all in all a great first half of the day. We went back to FW to shower and get ready for dinner at Rose & Crown and view of illuminations! Had a lovely dinner on the pAtio and were able to watch the show during our dessert! We walked around the world showcase after and did test track and spaceship earth on our way out. It was a perfect night!
Wednesday 12/28: we all slept in and just hung around the Fort. My bus didn't leave until 3:50 so we took the dog to the dog park, went to the beach and walked around. It's so beautiful and peaceful there. When the time came for me to leave I cried like a baby. But I couldn't wait to see my hubby!
Awesome things..
The surprise of being able to ride my favorites even during the holiday season!
Art of animation class
Peace at FW
Dinner at Rose & crown with fireworks
Monsters inc Laugh Floor was great!
Lows...
People not listening to cast members! Please refrain from flash photography so that they do not have to stop the show/ride to tell you AGAIN! Also, the rules DO apply to everyone I couldn't believe how many people thought otherwise!
Scooters: I saw many families sharing scooters! Yes, you heard me. At several points I saw family members taking turns driving the scooter. It amazes me what people will do to take advantage of the guest assistance passes.
Happy New Year! Thanks for reading!!
