For adventure this will be calm. Boarded Grandeur in the Port of Baltimore, my home town, around noon on Sunday. We have been on her before so it was fun walking the upper decks and looking in the staterooms, especially the suites. Our room was ready at 2pm. This was a crown and anchor cruise so we signed up for a few activities, making bead jewelry. Also went to 2 Captain/crown and anchor parties. Sister and I went swimming in Horseshoe Bay and Snorkel Bay Beach. Jeanne went with us for an island tour. We also went to a festival on the wharf and did a little shopping. The weather was great, Irene had already passed and the seas were 4-8. I would love to go back to Bermuda and I don't mind the Grandeur ( Magic and Radiance are nicer looking). And Capt Hakkan is very friendly.

I've read about Capt Hakkan in a few ship reviews......sounds like fun. I won't try any Bermuda Triangle jokes.
Pretty nice to hop on a ship in your own city!!

hi everybody,

I have pneumonia. The cough medicine has me wasted so excuse any typos I may make.

Kira has stayed dry all day.   She even took herself to ther potty when she needed to. This is so cool.

Alison said that she would try to get onto the thread when she gets home. She fried her computer a while back and just got it replaced. She emailed ferom the ship and said she saw Daurius, but Salvatore was in Italy during this cruise. She said he sent his hellos.

Good job on the dive stuff jEn. Maybe you can teach me. Actually I think I';ll stick to snorkling for a while longer.

Woah meds kicking in...gotta go watch football and sleep. night all. D

Bummer Denise, hope you get better FAST. Mary Ann - How did day 1 of your life style change go?

Sue

Hey Denise....both Jimmy and I walked off the 10 Day Cruise with pnuemonia, went to the Dr and walked out with our own bottles of "Happy Juice", as we re-named it. Whatever you do, don't be driving. That stuff knocks you for a loop. Get your rest and lots of fluid :grouphug:

Sue...actually went very good. Jimmy went to work with turkey sandwich (on whole wheat) and salad yesterday. Had chicken and salad for dinner and took the same for lunch today. For him, he has to be sure to eat. He is the type that goes most of the day without eating and then has three meals and snacks when he gets home from work. Time to break that habit

What is it with men (sorry gaRry) not eating all day and then coming home and eating everything in sight? My dh does that too. Or he'll eat a regular dinner and then 3 hours later he'll eat again, and usually he'll eat what I would eat in a regular meal! Oh well.

Well, Samantha starts 3rd grade today! I got her on the bus and sent off to her new school. We will see what she thinks when I get home from work this evening. I got worried when my niece didn't come out to get on the bus this morning. I called SIL on the cell phone, no answer. I called the house phone, no answer. By now I am imaging them all dead or unconscious from carbon monoxide! So I got the house key and went across the street. No, they were just all asleep! The phone in the bedroom had not been turned back on (she turns it off when her BF is there because he goes to bed by 8pm and she is afraid that someone will call and wake him) and her alarm either didn't go off or she didn't hear it. Both are typical of her. So she had to get up, throw clothes on and drive her dd to school for the first day. Better her than me!

Well, back to work....

Good luck and Pixie Dust sent for Samantha's first day of third grade :teacher: . Julia loved starting third grade 'cause she was the BIG KID of the school. This year she switches schools and is the lowly 4th grader at the bottom of the rung.

Not a good way for SIL to start the school year.

Morning all,

Thanks for the well wishes and good luck to your little one Kat.

:cheer2: GO JIMMY :cheer2: GO BUBBLES :cheer2: you guys can do it.

not much going on here today. Resting. We have an ice cream social at Sierra's school tonight. We will find out which teacher she has and where her class is and then tomorrow we go for orientation in the class with the teacher. Thursday is the first day. Then its back to work for me. Until then its time to slay the clothes monster yet again.

Have a great day everybody, D

Hello Christmas Cruisers!

My name is Willie, and my family is looking into joining you guys on the 10 day 2006. We will be taking our 2nd Thanksgiving cruise this November on the Magic.
(I have not read all 150 pages of this thread, so forgive me if you have discussed this already.)
Did read somewhere that I cannot get the 10 % discount for booking onboard for the 10 day? We are planning on booking while on our November cruise. That 10% is huge for this cruise.

Thanks for the info, and if we join you, I will be posting here to warn you about a very dangerous person that is already sailing with you!

Willie

Hi Willie! I am Jen. hehe. If you are joining us, then let me know so i can add your name to the cruise list. :teeth: my mom recieved the 10% discount. The quoted price is the price recieved with the 10% already applied, so alot of people are thinking that they don't get it. Since we booked 2 staterooms, we got the 10% and a $400 onboard credit ($200 for each room). Hope that helps. Here's some pixie dust hoping you will join us. :wizard: :wizard:

Well, my dive pictures are up at my gallery. feel free to check them out. I think i am going to make some graphics with them. will let you know. Back to making web sites. Bye all.

Sam survived her first day. She is playing so doesn't want to interrupt that to tell me about it. I guess I will have to pester her later!

Willie, I believe we DID get a significant discount when we booked the 10 day Christmas cruise on board at the end of June. I checked the rates Disney is charging on their website vs what we are paying and it was a pretty significant amount, though I don't know the exact amount. And they gave us the $200 onboard credit so I suspect they gave us the discount as well.

do tell, who is the dangerous person????

Hi Willie, , Welcome to the thread. I love your family's pitcure with the ship in the background.

We were told no discount on the 10 day when we booked onboard  :sad1: . Maybe I should have been more persistant.

Dangerous, eh??

Oh, we already know about Lisa :rotfl2:

Glad Sam survived her day. I have to pull teeth for info too. I makes me nuts when she is crying and all I get is, "I don't want to talk about it" when I try to find out what's wrong.

Thanks for the cheers, Denise.

Let me ask, do parents go crazy trying to find out who their kid's teacher is and what other kid's are in their class? Parents are totally obsessive about it around here.

Yeah, usually you find out at the end of the previous year but this year they did it differently. Sam wanted to know who was in her class because she has particular friends, etc.

I get the "I don't want to talk about it" too. It drives me nuts. Especially when she has bad dreams and won't talk about them. Oh well, must be the age! :earseek: Wish I could wave a wand :wizard: and make it all better!
Doesn't work that way though.

Thanks for the welcome! I, and my family are really hoping that things work out for us to be able to sail with you guys. I will know for certain in a few weeks. The 10 day just sounds like the GREATEST vacation.
I wonder if I called DCL, if they can tell me whether we will be able to get the 10% off by rebooking onboard. I would really like to have the decision made before we sail. For our family of 4 in two cabins, that will be well over a thousand dollar difference, at the prices I am seeing.
We also have DVC points we could use, but it does not seem to work out very well that way.

As for the dangerous fellow that is sailing with you guys..........I will see if I have a photo of him from our last cruise, so that you can be on the lookout for him when you cruise.

Thanks for the kind comments about our family picture. That was my favorite pic from our Thanksgiving cruise. It was taken at a restaurant at Grand Cayman. I can't remember the name of the place, though.

Willie

Oh yeah, I forgot to tell you about my family.(That would be nice, Willie, you lamebrain)
We are myself, DW Kelli, DD Hayley(15) and DD Erin(10)
We live about 80 miles East of Houston in the Piney Woods of East Texas. My girls play soccer, basketball and volleyball. And of course, I am THE proudest Dad in Texas. I tell anyone that will listen that I am the luckiest man I have ever known. I don't know what I did to deserve such a great wife and kids. I am truly blessed.

It looks like you guys have a pretty good thread going here. We have a fun one going for our Turkey Day bunch. We have all sorts of meets planned. We even chartered a private boat at GC for a snorkel beach trip.

Hey Willie,
Welcome aboard. I'm Denise, My DH Paul, DD Sierra (5 almost 6) and DD Kira (2.5) will be sailing. My mom is from Texas and I still have loads of cousins down there. Some of our close friends are moving to Austin in the next couple of weeks.

We went to the ice cream social last night. Sierra only has one kid in her class from last year. New friends on the way we are telling her. We have to go to the orientation today. But first we are off to see March of the Penguins.

Have you guys seen the posting for the September '06 cruise? We would be on Castaway Cay on Sierra's birthday. hmmmm  Oh Honey pirate:

Christmas day on Castaway Cay...sand snowmen, sand angels, a sand christmas tree decorated with shells? This could be fun. Maybe we will get to swim in the water this time.

off to the market for fruits and veggies. Hey Bubbles I have some good recipes if you want me to send them to you.

ciao y'all, D

Stacey,

Yes...of course! I'm sorry...did you see that I DID mention that I need to get that taken care of for you?? I haven't forgotten and I'll get it ASAP. No idea on cost....I was thinking that it was probably free.....especially since I made you wait so long.
