Angela, I hope your SIL will be ok. How are YOU?? Haven't seen you around in a while. Have you heard anything from Dee?

Thank you for the well wishes.

No haven't heard anything from Dee. The cruise seems like a distant dream now. Almost like it didn't really happen except for those 2000 pictures of all the fun we had.

Well this year the MIL is taking us all to the Oregon Coast for a week this summer. Next year is still looking Scottish. LOL Well one moment at a time. Been alittle down lately. Not too sure why, I guess there is just alot going on right now.

Well chat with you all later.

Angela

Hello all!

Just checking in...

Angela, sorry to hear about your family. Sounds like you're dealing with serious stuff!

Joanie, did they ever release points on your Mexican cruise? Let's see, it's still over a year away...certainly by the time it gets close to a year they have to come out with something, doncha think?

Things are getting back to the new normal now. Brian is off of pain medication and feeling more like himself. I think he battles being a little depressed about his situation, but he's staying pretty positive. He knows some people have it worse. We go back to the doctor Monday, and if he gets out of his sling and/or gets the OK to do some moving around and some normal activity that will help his state of mind a lot! Wish us luck!

Oh, and I almost forgot....

HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY!!

Hi everyone...Happy ST. Patrick's Day!!!

Today is going to be a boring day for me...lot's of cleaning.

Sherrena, no pts yet and it is driving me crazy as is Jonnie I'm sure. Hard to make plans when you on't know if they are going to be sooooo high thqat you decise to cancell or pay cash and use your pts. They said that they will be out anyday know but they have been saying that since the first day:confused3

Everything with my niece is going good. She seems to be excepting the fact that she will be here for awhile. She brought in her paper with her classes for next year to sign....I was very surprised..but happy.

I can tell she likes being taken care of and givin structure....

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I'm glad you came on and posted...I read Robin's post and went...did I MISS something?:confused3 :confused3

Hi Guys

Been busy. My blazer's transmission went out. So guess who got a new car for my birthday. You guessed it, David!! He said I could get whatever I wanted. He wanted me to choose the H3. We test drove the H3 and liked it alot but it did not perform any better than the Sorento for $20,000 less so to me it was a no brainer. So David has been driving OUR 2006 Sorento 4X4. Woo hoo. That has been some of our excitement. Had three deaths of our friends since we returned from the cruise and found out that my SIL (not either from the cruise) has a brain tumor. She is only 38. Big and growing they are going to remove it the end of this month. Two girls 9 and 12. My Brother is beside himself. The prognosis is good right now though so I will guess we will see.

Chat with you all soon.

Okay Okay stop picking on me...It is Angela and David who got the new wheels....at least I was close it was someone on this Tread and not another :lmao:

Hey Robin......

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: I'm laughing!

It sucks when the brain starts to go, doesn't it?;) (Not that I would know...):rolleyes1 You're right, though, there is some victory in the fact that you kept the thread straight!:thumbsup2

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: (Still laughing.)

Hi everyone including allt he Middle age broads like me....:rotfl2:

I have a question...Do you let your underage kids drink alcohol at home..like a glass of wine with dinner or at what age will you begin letting them only drink at home...

there is a thread that I have visited and I cant believe how many people let ther kids drink at home...even some as young as 14. the most are at age 17. Am I nuts or something that I feel that okaying that is wrong.

I have posted that if the age is 21 than 21 it is in my home. If they are away at college than they will do what they will do but I have been working years on explaining to them why age 21 is the law.

They will come home at 20 away at college and say can I have beer and I will still say no..they will for sure laugh at me and say they drink at school and I will laugh back and still say "No" and think that they wil respect me for sticking to what I have taught them there whole life...that it is important to not only keep your word when they are young but also as the are adults....

I am just curious and this is just my opinion and will flame no one with different ideas...do you let your young kids drink at home...am I just to ridged..not that that would change my mind if I am:rotfl2:

i agree with you robin..no drinking before your legal age..othrwise how would you teach them which laws would be ok to break or keep.

Wow Robin...That's a loaded question.

I guess my answer is, I don't know yet!

I agree you get going down a slippery slope when you start making exceptions to the rules. On the other hand, most of life isn't black and white and by the time a child is 18 and college age, they should be able to understand the idea that certain things may be OK in some situations and not in others. There's some validity to the argument that alcohol tolerance be experimented with in a safe environment rather than "let go" somewhere like a college frat party.

I think my parents used to let me "taste" stuff...but never have a drink. That seemed to satisfy my curiosity, I think.

I would never condone a drinking party at my house, and would never allow a child to have even a taste of liquor if I hadn't cleared it with the parents, that much I'm sure of. And we preach-preach-preach the idea that drinking and driving NEVER go together, and that when you have a drink your judgment is the first thing to go, so don't trust it. The rest I'm still sorting out.

But I'm a middle aged woman, so we all know what that means!

The posters that were getting under my skin were parents that let there 13-14 yo drink with them at home during BBQ and a glass of wine for dinner.

I could not see the benifit in why a 13 yo needed to do this. Most of the parents were just well as long as there home drinking what is the problem.

Call me crazy but are we not suppose to be teaching our children about not drinking instead of well a few are okay just dont drink and drive.:confused3

a 13- 16 yo will not get the point cause there brains are to busy rewiring to think logical on that. A sip here in there is not a problem to me it is "Here have a beer and a hamberger" that get me :confused3 :rotfl2:

That is a tough one. On the one hand, I think "kids" should know how to handle alcohol in a controlled situation BEFORE they are faced with a peer pressure situation. On the other hand, my ex was an alcoholic and I have little tolerance for drunks (myself included) so my gut tells me to say NO ALCOHOL, EVER!!! even though I know that would be the wrong thing to do.

Hey Robin, we have had a change of plans and instead of going to WDW in August we are going to DL instead!!!! We will be arriving sometime on the 8th and leaving the morning of the 12th. Dave wants to do parks on the 9th and 11th and do some touristy stuff on the 10th. We were there about 8 years ago but Sam has never been and the California park was just being built so that part will be new for everyone. And the conversion of Tom Sawyer's Island to a pirate island will be done!!!!!!

Speaking of pirate: pirate: , did everyone see the preview Monday night??!!! OMG, it looks AWESOME!!!! I cannot wait. Dave said he knew what I'd be doing at midnight.

Not sure yet on the touristy stuff. Probably drive around so Sam can see stuff, take her by the Chinese, go to Santa Monica Pier, etc. How long a trip is it for you guys to drive up there? Maybe we could get together for dinner or something that day.....

Wer about 1 1/2-2 hrs away but longer if you catch rush hr traffic:scared1:
That swould have been great if we were there when you were there. We are going during spring break so it will be crowded. You are missing that so it will be better at that time for you, although it is always crowded due to only 2 parks and DT Disney.

If you are going to Santa Monica pear go down a little further to Venise Beach. You also have Universal studios that you can spend the day at.

Going to Grommins(sp) chineese Restaurant to look at the foot and hand prints are fun. Just remember it, Hollywood and its not glamourous. Beverrl hills is beautiful and fun to walk around and find a cafe to eat at.
I love Beverly Hills :thumbsup2
