Hi Guys
Been busy. My blazer's transmission went out. So guess who got a new car for my birthday. You guessed it, David!! He said I could get whatever I wanted. He wanted me to choose the H3. We test drove the H3 and liked it alot but it did not perform any better than the Sorento for $20,000 less so to me it was a no brainer. So David has been driving OUR 2006 Sorento 4X4. Woo hoo. That has been some of our excitement. Had three deaths of our friends since we returned from the cruise and found out that my SIL (not either from the cruise) has a brain tumor. She is only 38. Big and growing they are going to remove it the end of this month. Two girls 9 and 12. My Brother is beside himself. The prognosis is good right now though so I will guess we will see.
Chat with you all soon.
Hey Robin......

I'm laughing!
It sucks when the brain starts to go, doesn't it?(Not that I would know...)
You're right, though, there is some victory in the fact that you kept the thread straight!

Wow Robin...That's a loaded question.
I guess my answer is, I don't know yet!
I agree you get going down a slippery slope when you start making exceptions to the rules. On the other hand, most of life isn't black and white and by the time a child is 18 and college age, they should be able to understand the idea that certain things may be OK in some situations and not in others. There's some validity to the argument that alcohol tolerance be experimented with in a safe environment rather than "let go" somewhere like a college frat party.
I think my parents used to let me "taste" stuff...but never have a drink. That seemed to satisfy my curiosity, I think.
I would never condone a drinking party at my house, and would never allow a child to have even a taste of liquor if I hadn't cleared it with the parents, that much I'm sure of. And we preach-preach-preach the idea that drinking and driving NEVER go together, and that when you have a drink your judgment is the first thing to go, so don't trust it. The rest I'm still sorting out.
But I'm a middle aged woman, so we all know what that means!![]()
That is a tough one. On the one hand, I think "kids" should know how to handle alcohol in a controlled situation BEFORE they are faced with a peer pressure situation. On the other hand, my ex was an alcoholic and I have little tolerance for drunks (myself included) so my gut tells me to say NO ALCOHOL, EVER!!! even though I know that would be the wrong thing to do.
Hey Robin, we have had a change of plans and instead of going to WDW in August we are going to DL instead!!!! We will be arriving sometime on the 8th and leaving the morning of the 12th. Dave wants to do parks on the 9th and 11th and do some touristy stuff on the 10th. We were there about 8 years ago but Sam has never been and the California park was just being built so that part will be new for everyone. And the conversion of Tom Sawyer's Island to a pirate island will be done!!!!!!

, did everyone see the preview Monday night??!!! OMG, it looks AWESOME!!!! I cannot wait. Dave said he knew what I'd be doing at midnight.
Not sure yet on the touristy stuff. Probably drive around so Sam can see stuff, take her by the Chinese, go to Santa Monica Pier, etc. How long a trip is it for you guys to drive up there? Maybe we could get together for dinner or something that day.....
