Hey Robin, we will be there Aug 8-12. Staying at the Camelot across the street. Just under 4 months!!!!!

Kat maybe we will try to have a day there together to say Hi...you could come over to our pool at the GCH in the afternoon when it is hot and we can chatt:thumbsup2 I will check tomorrow to see again when school starts and when we are camping.

Joannie and Robin, we are going to DL this summer rather than WDW. DH doesn't want to go to central Florida again. If I get there again it will just be DD and myself. That was the original plan then he decided he wanted to make a family vacation of it! so we are going to the other coast this time!

Who knows, the way he is going DH may not be with us in 2011 anyway :(. He was diagnosed as Type II diabetic last summer and took meds. Then went to the Mayo clinic where they told him he WASN'T type II. So he stopped. Now his doc says his hemoglobin a1c is way off but he refuses to do anything about it because the Mayo said he isn't diabetic! Given his mood swings and eating habits I'd say he definitely is, especially with the results of his a1c. So as long as he continues to ignore it he is definitely shortening his life expectency. Untreated Type II's have about a 2-5 year window from what I can find. He won't listen, doesn't trust doctors anymore, so just goes on his merry way. Ugh!!!

sorry to hear abt dh diabetes...i found the glucose meter in dh trunk one time..askd where he got tht..he sd doc tld him he was diabetic and need to start taking blood so he could regulate meds..he nvr did..finally i got him to go back..abt a year later..his aic was 12!!!! now he is on meds..and a diet and lost 110 pounds...thy cut his meds in half now..he is doing great..i also am diabetic..on meds i do try to stay on diet..my a1c is 7.4..not good but not too bad..wish you luck wth getting him out of denial..and back to docs..
Kat...We will be at DL from July 20th-27 2008. But will be there other stays also before that. Are you planning on going to DL can't remember if you were going there or WDW?

2011 cruise...we will see ya there Joanie and Kat you can join us if your Dh decides not to go and we will have a great time!!!! Also if he does not go that is more $$$ for you to spend or save:thumbsup2

Joanie be prepared for your May cruise to be cold and gloomy till you hit Mexico at least 2 days. We have what is called May gray and June gloom. Also be sure to bring pants and sweatshirts.
We dont start warming up here till around mid June but lasts till late Oct.

The water in Cabo is freezing all year long so plan on not swimming there but you can take a water taxi over to the Hotels and park yourself at there pool with no problems. Some great Hotels there. Also there are alot of Rip tides in Cabo.

as we get closer I can tell you of some excursions that you can do that DCL does on your own for a fraction of the cost.

Well everyone still so glad there are a few of us left to chat :thumbsup2 will check back later and all have a blessed day.
We are going on it July 27-Aug3rd...will do 7 days at GCH Concierge on our pts at DL and some of the local stuff also like the water park, Universal, Knotts berry farm and of course DL.

We booked 2 weeks first day out. Acculy my ressie for the cruise was booked on Dec 28th before booking started because of going through Inventory controll...but they did not let me know that till I spent hrs on the phone.

I canceled the July 20th today that I had transfered to DVC. Also had transfered to DU so we would get the $250.00 OBC.....have you transfered your ressie to them for the OBC? My TA has been great through them:thumbsup2

Doesn't sound like you will be there when we are, though :(

Joanie, I am a type I, been diabetic for almost 36 years now!!!!! So I know all about the complications, etc. I am on a pump, though. Have been for better than 10 years! Dh is on meds for cholesterol and thryoid (his thyroid is DEAD) and taking B12 so he doesn't sleep all the time. At that point I am not sure what difference another pill would make but he won't do it.

Morning everyone! :sunny:

Sounds like everyone's vacation plans are firming up, for better or worse..;)

Kat, sorry to hear about Dave. Maybe they need to figure out why the Mayo clinic DOESN'T think he has diabetes. SOMETHING is messing with his system...he can't deny that. :confused3

Take care of yourselves....

Sherrena, the whole thing is really messed up :headache: . His thyroid is completely dead so we know that causes issues but he has been on meds for that for several years. He goes through phases where all he wants to do is sleep so he is on the B12. He was having other issues where his bloodwork showed that both his adrenaline and testosterone levels were very low. So they put him on testosterone shots a year ago but that didn't last long as he would get mean and the first day after he took the shot he would act like he was on major drugs. So then they put him on this gel he had to use at night. That also affected his moods and behavior to where even he noticed it and didn't like what it was doing to him. His a1c was also registering high. He had an MRI because they thought maybe he had a tiny tumor on his pituitary which might cause these issues. The local docs found nothing so his gp sent him to the Mayo. Obviously his entire endocrine system is a mess. Well, they did test after test after test. He had expenses for gas, hotel and food for almost a week as well as $1000 out of pocket for the medical expenses. Their answer....No, he isn't type II, no tumor. Hmm, well, you need to lose weight. If you lose weight all the problems will go away. His thyroid is messed up so he hasn't been able to lose weight! He was pi**ed off when he got back and ranting and raving against doctors. He doesn't trust them anymore and won't take anything more than his thyroid and cholesterol meds, no matter what anyone tells him. I have gotten to the point where I won't even try talking to him about it because he just gets angry. My Mom has been in tears a couple of times because of his behavior but she and I have both decided the best thing to do at this point is just ignore a lot of what he says/does in relation to her. Even Sam gets upset when he goes off on a rant but saying anything at all just makes him mad so we just do our thing and stay out of his way when he is in his moods. I don't know what else I can do :confused3 .

Now I know I have lost it.... I am truly a Disney addict! We are going to my dad's in June and he lives 3 hours from Orlando. for us 3 hours to get to a park is no big deal. That is how long it takes us to get to King's Island in Cincinatti. So I have emailed Dad to see what he thinks about Sam, myself and Dad taking a trip to WDW on the day Dave goes diving in Jacksonville! I found a site that will do a 2br suite hotel for one night with 2 adult tix to WDW for just over $100! And only another $67 for an additional park ticket! We will see what he thinks. Hey, my birthday is the end of next month, sounds like a great gift for me!!

Plus I really got Dave the other day. I told him that I know what I want for my bday and he rolled his eyes, especially when I said it was his fault! I told him I want Tinkerbell. He said he didn't want any fairies flying around the house. I said no, I want her on my left shoulder! Hey, he talked me into the first one! I told him it is my midlife crisis to want another tatoo (I have two already for those who didn't see them when we were on the cruise). :rotfl: :rotfl2: :lmao:

We will see what he does, but if he doesn't I will do it on my own. I already have the one I want picked out and sized correctly :cool2: .

yes, my name is kathleen and I am a Disney addict!!!

Hi everyone, hope your all well.

Kat make sure you take a picture of your Tatoo and post it for us to see :thumbsup2 As far as Dave goes is it wise for him to be diving?Hope he makes sure his sugar levels are okay before he does...but you already know that.

Its a shame that he is in denial. I'm sure it is very difficult to deal with his mood swings and his anger. And it is even worse that he won't do anything to try to get it under controll. Sure alot of that comes from his Thyroid. When your thyroid is out of wack it makes your brain act crazy and ranting and raving is one of those things. One of the first things that I would do is not have a GP but get an internest as your primary Dr.

I think men go through more menopause than us. They get more moody IMO.

sherrena is the WASABI contest over yet? Who were the winners?

Kat your right I think my niece starts back at school Aug 3rd or close to it so we will have to be there before that. :sad1:

Well everyone I have alot to do so I will check back later. Have a great day and Kat shope Dave comes around:sick:

Ooooh, oooooh, I saw the old tatoo, I wanna see the new one!

Kat, I knew another person whose Thyroid died....I think she had some adjustments, but she seems to be doing fine 10 years later. The whole testosterone thing makes sense, I know what testosterone surges to do people, I have two teenage boys, remember?:scared1: I'm sure he doesn't listen at all...I don't have any advice, that's a tough one.

And I agree with Robin...men's menopause means they turn into cranky old farts...::yes:: Wish somebody would prove that, it might make it easier to not get mad!;)

Do you have dates yet on your trip down?

He takes synthroid for his thyroid so that is not out of whack, just the sugars. But I know if I am running high I can get nasty and I know folks who deal with unregulated type II diabetics who say that the highs definitely affect the mood in a bad way. And no, he doesn't check his sugars at all. Why should he, he isn't diabetic after all :confused3 (she says, laced with heavy sarcasm!).

Well, Dad doesn't want to do WDW :( . He says it is 4 hour, not 3. :(

Sherrena, I have the 11-15 off of work but not sure yet if we are leaving the 9th or 10th. Sam doesn't get out of school until the 8th instead of the 4th as originally scheduled.

I have started scrapbooking and my first project is our Disney trips. I am just about to start on the Christmas cruise. I have been printing pics and buying cute Disney scrapbooking stuff. Dave rolled his eyes at me. He told me I needed a new hobby.....

I should have the new tat by the time we head that way, Sherrena. My birthday is at the end of May and if Dave decides he isn't going to do that for my present I will get it done myself!

I have transfered my ressie to Dreams Unlimited the TA for the DIS.....they were offering a $250.00 On board credit. They have been great. You have to do everything by e-mail but my TA gets back to me fast. The same day for the most part. You can still do your excursions on line when it comes available also Palos.

For $250.00 it was well worth the transfere and I will use them again. I had hered good things about them so though I would try them. DIS is very popular and if DU were lousy it would hurt the boards....

You should check them out and if you do let me know and I will give you the name of my TA she is friendly and has been great!!!!:thumbsup2
Just click on the picture of DU above where the ship is and it will take you to it. You can e-mail them with your questions.

No only cash. That sure would be nice however. How many pts do you have by the way and how lond have you been a DVC member. WE just became members on the Dec cruise. We had talked about it but never did. till than.

Dh Billie is still not convinced that it was a good deal. He just sees the $30,000 for the 400 pts plus the $1600.00 in annual dues. He cant see the long term in it yet. Told him that Btanden and Michael will be in there late 60's when the contracts expire that is a long time and alot of vacations when it is all pd off and that the Hotels are only going to go up in price wherw the pts remaine the same.

Billie lets sme do what ever since I am in charge of the $$$ he makes it and I disperse it.

I think when he stays some where with the pts he will change his mind.

Well time to take a nap I am soooo tiered, hope all is well and will check in later.

we have over 1800 points..taxes are enough to knock your sox off!! i think its an addiction..you wll see..you will buy more...i just cnt get enough..i love all the places you can go and the dependability tht any place disney puts you in wll always be top shelf...dh had time share before us and whn we used his..the place was a disgrace..dirty, the pool had so many love bugs you could not stay at the pool. disney would nvr allow that..taxes are high wth disney but it is worth it..
talk to you soon

DH won't go for the DVC thing. Same as he thinks time shares are a scam. Not that we have the extra $$ to pay to get in or for the annual upkeep. Heck, he doesn't even want to go to WDW again :( Me, there are places I'd love to go back to but for the most part once he's been somewhere that's it. ugh.

WOW!!!! 1800 pts is a lot....you go girl :woohoo: I can only imagine your yearly dues :scared: like you I want more but want to pay the 400 off first. Would like at least 600-800 pts but that depends if we can just buy small contracts of 150 at a time and pay cash.

Dint want to finance as we are doing know. We have 10 years to pay off at like $460.00 a month. Need to pay off as soon as possible.

We are so busy trying to keep ahead of taxs each year that that interferes...for instance we just sent in $19,000 in taxs for and last year $23,000. We pay it off and start again. geesh...taxs never ending.

What we could do with that $$$$ if there were no taxs:rotfl2:

Where do you own..what homes in the DVC that is do you have? What is your favorite? Being a new member I would like to know?
