"And Straight on 'Til Morning"
I was up early again to see us approach Castaway Cay. Now that's what I call an island paradise! Mickey woke up our son again and we rushed off to the Beach Blanket Buffet for breakfast. We wanted a quick breakfast so we could maximize our time on the island.
We went down to Deck 1 and waited impatiently for 8:30am and the door to open to Castaway Cay. It finally opened and we were on our way. I looked up and it was snowing! I hadn't had my "Cold-And-Fruity" drink of the day yet, either. Disney was making it snow on Castaway Cay! We really did enjoy the Christmas decorations on the ship and on Castaway Cay. We had our picture taken with the Snow family on the dock at Castaway Cay. It's great. We're wearing our swim suits.
We caught the tram to the family beach and rushed down to get our snorkeling gear. I was serious about snorkeling in the Caribbean. Me and our 9-year-old son geared up and headed out to be the first snorkelers. Well, the wind was blowing and there was a lot of sand in the water. I saw a lot of fish and a lot of different kinds of fish. The fish were as interested in me as I was in them. I was busy snapping pictures with my underwater disposable camera when something grabbed my fin. Oh boy! I almost swallowed my snorkel. The old imagination can really work fast when you get scared. It was just a lady snorkeler. Disney has fenced off the snorkeling area so nothing big can get in there. She bubbled out a "sorry" and swam away.
The wind just got to be too much for us novice snorkelers. It was really rolling us and the waves were breaking over the top of the snorkeling tubes. We bagged the snorkeling and found some chairs on the beach. It was windy, but still beautiful. Our son had never seen the ocean before, so he enjoyed doing all the beach things.
My wife did the open-air Cabana massage. She really liked it. I asked her if she had to get nakey for her massage and she told me no. She did keep humming the theme from "Born Free" the rest of the day, though.
We had lunch on the island and it was the best picnic ever. I could have spent a lot of days sitting under a coconut tree with my sweetheart and son.
Some dark clouds came upon us at 3:00pm and we decided to head back to the beautiful Wonder. I wanted to do one last quick swim and ran down and jumped into the water. Unfortunately, I had not tied the drawstring on my swimming trunks tight enough and when I came back up out of the water, the people on the beach started screaming and pointing at me. The lifeguards now refer to this part of the beach as "Mooner's-Point". We got back and took our son to his rehearsal for the Kid's Show. It was a lot of fun to see our son up on the stage with the other kids. We were supposed to sail away at 5:30pm, but the wind and a strong current kept us from going. Good call on Captain Henry's part. We ate at Animator's Pallette again. They don't do the light show the second time. More great food and great service. We went to the Disney Dreams show. It was great! It was my favorite show. The ship left around 8:30pm. The Wonder has some thoroughbred in her and she can really get up and go for a big cruise ship. Captain Henry was intent on making up time and that he did. We packed our bags and barely got them into the hall for pickup by 11:00pm. I went to Shutters and ordered Christmas cards to be picked up in the morning. We went to sleep and woke up a few hours later to a rolling ship. I heard the waves got up to 13 feet. It didn't bother me, though. It was actually a good way to go back to sleep. The Wonder rides nice.
