12/10/05 ~ Anyone else cruising.....??

Thanks to everyone for the warm welcome. I'd love to help out with a bio sheet for people.

Gotta get that high speed. We live out in the sticks and had to do dial up when we first moved here. Thank goodness we now have the high speed. I'd die without it.

And for the job thing? My husband has been out of work for well over three years. We moved here four years ago and at no time have both of us been employed at the same time. Been tough. I finally landed a terrific job (after being laid off twice). After talking with my boss, my husband is now employed at the same company as a contractor. So, tomorrow morning, for the first time since we moved to Georgia, we will both be earning a paycheck. So keep plugging away, keep working on contacts, and things will happen.

DISNUT8, welcome. Have you or DH tried the Petty Driving Experience? DH did that last Dec when we were at WDW and said it was the most fun thing he has ever done. It is right by the MK and, as NASCAR fans, would be well worth the time if you can go to FL a day or two early.

I like the idea of a bio on everyone too. With pictures so we can recognize each other around the ship. We were on the 10 day Christmas Cruise this last Dec and we had LOTS of DIS events. It was very fun to meet so many nice people and with several events everyone got an opportunity to join in at least a few. We even linked our reservations so we all sat with or near each other for dinner. One early group and one late group.

I am just curious. To those who have done both the 7 day and 4 day, how has "upgrading" to a 7 day improved your cruising experience? Has it allowed more time for relaxation or do you find your days even more busy? How is that Cove Bar? How is Diversions? I am a huge Football/sports fan. Does Diversions get full on Sundays when there is NFL on? Will I have to get there early?

How are the Navigator and other Series.....

We have done the 3, 4 and 7 Day. The 7 day is by far the best. The 3 day is too rushed, the 4 day is much better because of the additional at sea day.

We loved the 7 day because you have so much more time on the ship to truly relax. I never felt like I could relax on the 3 day as I might miss something.

Taking the cost out, if you have to take time off from work (I own several businesses so time is vital) you might as well do the 7 day since it is only really 1 more day away from the office.

Just my thoughts.

I agree, 7 days lets you relax, and not worry so much that you might "miss" something you want to do. The three extra days let you do things you may not have even tried if you did not have the time.

As to Diversions, can't tell you about Sunday, as it was Key West Day on our last cruise, and we were too busy for football - besides that the Browns were in the tank at that time.

I can tell you that Monday Night Football was pleasantly "uncrowded" last time around - almost full, but not elbow to elbow. Those there were either sports fans of football, or the fans of the teams playing. We had a nice time hanging out for a while there. It probably depends on who is playing, and who is on the ship.

BTW - Jordanyosh, You may have noticed we live in N. Canton, OH, and I grew up in Canton, OH, right next door. If you would like me to bring you something from the Pro Football HOF, I would be glad to oblige- don't know if you have visited here or are that much of a football nut.

John

John,

I may be out there in August to see Steve Young inducted......my roommate is going for sure and she has 1 extra ticket. Another friend and I are fighting over the ticket......If I don't get to go, I am sure they will be picking up some souvies for me. Thanks for the offer though.

Oh...and I am that much of a football nut. Becoming more obsessed with hockey though.

Thanks to you Wing for the feedback...

We have done 4 - 4 day cruises, one 7 day and one 10 day. We thought about a 4 day this year, but canceled that and booked this one. There is just too much to do for a 4 day. We loved the 10 day. We spent the sea day afternoons at Cove Cafe sipping lattes, playing Skipbo, watching the sea go by and the afternoon after St. Maarten we enjoyed our cigars there as well. :smooth:

We are so looking forward to more of that down time. ahhhh.

We love college football, but did not get into Diversions to watch any games. I think there were some bowl games when we cruised. We did poke our heads in there one afternoon and it looked like folks were enjoying themselves. :cheer2:

We have only done the 4 day so far. We did feel kind of rushed, which is why we are doing the 7 day this time. I hope to get to try some of the activities. Last time we didn't really do anything other than shows and the pool.

I have to get to packing now. We are leaving EARLY tomorrow morning for a week in Washington DC. It is the kids spring break and we are going to see the sights (and visit family). Everyone have a great week!!!! :grouphug:

My cousin's family (Wendy, her husband, DD-3 and DS-then 6mos, her mom and dad) and I will be on the 12/10 7-day cruise. After years of travelling with my cousin and her husband and asst'ed others, I am finally sick of being the one sleeping on the couch or sleeper sofa. I am getting my own room this time. It's a Cat 11, but on deck 7 so not too bad. The rest are on deck 6 with the verandahs... so if i need my fix I can just head down to their rooms. We will also be spending 6 days on WDW, either at the BWV or BCVs...

Hey, what do you mean you don't like the sofa? Heck, we always thought we were giving you the deluxe treatment by "letting" you have your very own sofabed and being our "additional child"... hee hee hee hee hee. :rotfl:

Looking forward to enjoying the 7-day with all of you! I'm afraid we won't ever be able to go back to a 3- or 4-day after this!! We'll be in "connecting" (not "adjoining" as apparently "adjoining" means side by side, and "connecting" means having a door going between the rooms - who knew??!) staterooms #6528 and 6530 as sadly, all the suites are sold out. :sad2: So hopefully it won't be too squishy with me, DH, DD and DS in there. We'll have to loan out one of our children to my parents staying in the next room. :teeth:

See you all then!

We started out with the 7 day cruise & will never go less than that. It just isn't worth it for us with an 11 hour drive to the port.

Much thanks for all the feedback!!!

I cannot wait for the cruise. I am also looking forward to the WDW portion of our trip as I have never been during the Xmas season. Also looking forward to the new attractions as well. Hoping that Expedition Everest will have it's soft opening by then......

Have a good time in DC Cristi.

You will love WDW at Christmas! We will be there about 5 days or so prior to the cruise. Every park is wonderful that time of year. We especially enjoy the Candlelight Processional. Last year we saw it 3 times with 3 different orators in the 5 days we were there. Just happened to hit the last day of one orator and first day of another at the end.

Jordanyosh, we are heading down your way in June. We have to get our annual Disneyland fix. We lived 3 miles from DL for many years.

We have always gone during the Christmas Season. You will love the change in the atmosphere. What a way to get into the Christmas Spirit. Our last and 1st cruise (4-night) was around the holiday season and the ship was so beautiful, but very glad that this year we decided to do a 7-night. Welcome Wendy. Dorothy

Thanks for the welcome! We're looking forward to experiencing WDW and DCL during the holidays! We've always only gone in Sept or Feb, but since we'll be expanding our family this July, a Sept trip would have been a little too soon for us go to and maximize our enjoyment (mine especially - ha ha), so we postponed it until December.

Hopefully DD will just love it as she'll be almost 3.5 years old, and the last time she went she was only 1 so she was fine, but I think she'll enjoy/remember more this time around. DS won't remember anything @ 5 mos but I'm sure we'll have pictures to commemorate his first WDW/DCL experience.

We can't wait!!! See you all there! (whether we know it or not!)
