12/10/05 ~ Anyone else cruising.....??

Hi All;

From your friendly neighbourhood weirdo's from Colorado Springs.

Let me do a quick trip report so far, Really quick as I have to stand on my left leg with my right hand over my head with tin to get a wireless signal in our room. Anyway, I digress...

We started our trip on Thursday, December 1st, DD's 6th birthday. We drove to Denver to prepare for our flight on Friday morning and stayed at the Holiday Inn on Tower Road. REALLY good rate on the park and fly. When I check in I see a sign that states $20 upgrade to suite or jacuzzi suite. I say to the girl at the desk "Hey, that sounds nice", she's says "Sorry, we're sold out but look, you'll been given a free upgrade to a suite." AWESOME!! Let the upgrades continue please. :wizard: :wizard: Anyway, I register and sign up for the morning shuttle and away we go to our suite.
After touring the suite and lugging up 50 thousand pounds of luggage, okay I exaggerate, 48 thousand pounds, we head over to Bennigans across the street because I would rather have other people look like idiots rather than me signing songs. :) So, DD had about 10 very loud people sign "Happy Birthday" to her, it was great, she loved it :)
After a night of virtually no sleep, could be from the concret bed and pillow set we slept on or the excitement stiring our blood to a dull roar, we headed out to the airport. Shuttle staff was good, I now know why I have no legs left on my luggage though, THACK, THUMP, PLUMP (It reminded me of the old Batman cartoons. Check in had no wait, I really like the self check in, good for people who know how to use computers, especially frustrating when you're stuck behind someone who still doesn't know how to use a debit card. :goodvibes
Security was good, for once DH wasn't picked so we all got to leave security at the same time :)
Only snag was when we were sitting in the terminal watching all the maintenance guys play with the plane. OUR plane! I thought, it better only be the legs from my luggage they're fixing or I'm going to feel really bad about getting on that plane. So, at boarding time they decided to send in a new plane and move us to a different gate, 40 minutes late but there's a better chance we'll make it so "OKAY" :)
Flights went smooth and then off to the car rental in Tampa, first time I used Travelocity to rent a car and I have to say I'm impressed. No problem, cheaper rate and they still gave me an upgrade at a "discounted rate", we needed a larger car to lug the 48 thousand pounds of luggage.
We're staying at Shades of Green at WDW and I have to say, I'm impressed with the hotel service but I've found the 2 out of 2 restuarants we've tried here unimpressive, poor service, midgrade food and of course the high prices you're finding on all food in the resort made these restuarants places where I'll try to stay away from.
Anyway, went to Magic Kingdom today and had a really good time, the fireworks tonight were great and they were taping the parade today for Christmas Day ABC.

Ok, I'm off for now, DH just turned off the light and I can't see what I'm typing anymore.

Take care all, see you soon, I'll probably be on tomorrow after Animal Kingdom.

Deidre

No, I have just been watching the game. You almost didn't get it. Hey there Deidre! I was getting ready to switch the post over the the reports board. LOL! I finally figured out who it was. :)

Lisa, have we rubbed off on you ????? :) :rotfl: :rotfl2:

I did promise your DW that I would not start packing too early. Unfortunantly school never lasts the short amount of time that I allot for it. ACK! The POC computer that we have to work with in the office is TOO slow! :rolleyes1 I ended up having to take almost 4 hours to do the few fliers that I need to. I even had 3 of them on a USB drive thing. The download & printing was painful.

Hi Wierdguy! Glad you made it! :cheer2: We stayed at SoG last October for the first time! I loved it! The room was larger and the beds larger than the Hyatt Grand Cypress on the concierge floor where we stayed one time! I agree - the food wasn't that great, but I felt the cost was comparable to any similar restaurants outside the park.

If you buy anything in the park, you can have it sent to your room - no lugging around the shopping bags. C you real soon! :earseek:

hey Lisa,

how are you tonight? I hope you're better soon.

Diedra, I am not really sick. I feel like it though after our team was slaughtered tonight. WOW! When did we score again? 22 to 27 isn't as bad as it was looking earlier.

Deidre, thanks for keeping in touch! It is so good to hear from folks who have made it to the World already. Sounds like Wendy will be next. ::MickeyMo ::MinnieMo

I'm sorry, but I have to politely disagree. I did not see ANYTHING ugly about the USC/UCLA game! :cheer2: We thought it was a beautiful thing! :cheer2:

Goodnight all! It is going to another long day of trying to get more done around here. The good news...just about everything is ready for Christmas after we get back. :)

Well, after VT and LSU both lost, it looks like Ohio State can now move up to get an automatic BCS bid! :cool1:

Sorry Lisa . . .

Hope you feel better tomorrow!

John

I gotta time my visits better. Am I alone again? Only to wake up Sunday morning with another 100 posts and 6-7 pages to read.

Well I was busy watching the Ducks game. We WON AGAIN. That's 4 in a row and 5 of 6. I think we're back in business, but we'll see.

Good Morning all!

Lisa, Sorry about VT, It sucks to watch your team lose a big game, I know! I see it happen every year when GA takes on the OP's team :rolleyes1

Weirdguy, thanks for the great report. I can't wait to start my vacation. We just finished a major hurdle last night after the Christmas party we hosted was over. That took all day to get ready!

6 days and counting!!!

Hi there, thanks for the tip about the purchases, I didn't realize SOG did that too.

Deidre... THanks for the trip report..... Glad you made it okay.....just before the snow....

I got all of my laundry done last night (minus one load of towels, but hey don't need those done for vacation). So, hopefully maybe a small load on Tuesday before we leave and that will be done. I think I have all of my presents wrapped (minus the two we are waiting on to be delivered)

I got all of my disney rewards transferred over to my rewards card.. .... $625 WooHoo!!!! That will definately cover all of our tips and excursions and should leave some left over for the drink of the day!

Okay..... I have to leave for work now. I am hoping to be home around 1pm and then we have a Christmas party to go to at 3pm.

Wow, Cristi! I need to use my Disney card more! We only had $110 on our this year. I'll have to start shopping so I will have more next year!

DH took me to Walmart last night and we did more Christmas shopping. I think we have everyone taken care of except DD and her DH and my Mom. Gonna have to look in St Thomas for a gift for my mom I guess!
