12/10/05 ~ Anyone else cruising.....??

Weirdguy,

Here is a link on these forums for instructions on placing pictures:

I don't know if Airtran flies anywhere where you guys all live, or if Wendy's is offering this where you live, but . . .

Every Wendy's 16 or 20 ounce cup (around here) has a coupon on it for
airtran. If you send in 32 coupons, you get points for a free one way
ticket on airtran. 64 coupons gets you a free round trip. You do have
to sign up for their rewards program online, but that is free. You
have to mail them in to airtran to redeem the points. A 16 oz drink
costs 1.05 here with tax, so for less than $70 you can get round
trip ticket (usually well over $200).

The only catch is that I caught up to this late, after the first few
days, and they make you buy the soda or drink (can't just buy the
cups) and you can only buy five per transaction. We have 10 so far,
but I am going to try and get 256 for the two max tickets each for
Amy and I. You do have to use them within 1 year, but that would be 2
trips to Disney for us. You also have to be 18 to redeem, so the kids
can't do it - but it is still a great deal. I read stories on some
internet sites of people diving into dumpsters to get the cups - but
I draw the line at that.

Here's a link on Airtran's web site:

Wow, John. That sounds like a great deal. Doesn't fly here to the NW though. I might even consider the dumpster dive for that. :rolleyes1

Shelley - YES, it was a nailbiter!! Hope we can beat the ole ball coach this Saturday. We just got our SEC tix email - depending on the GA/Auburn game we'll purchase tix on Sunday. The SEC championship game is the Sat before we cruise!! :)

Watching the game now - I hope Manning beats those ole Patriots!

I am so fried...we just finished year end at work, the auditors are there and we just finished Oct's close.....I am ready for a vacation! Also, the pool people called today....seems our pavers won't be in until January! I was so mad I called and left sort of a not so nice message.....I mean we signed this contract in June.....and I would have liked to have DD's first birthday by the pool!! Oh well...

YEAH! :) We search for Disney Cruise stuff regularly, checking the clothes all the time. I have NEVER seen anything like that before. Good luck!

And here's a picture of our pirates....

drum roll please :)

Thanks for the link (think it worked)

I can't wait for the cruise...

So cute!!! DD has a pirate costume but little Haley doesn't - no infant costumes to be had!...:( I had someone make me pirate themed overalls so that will have to do!

So - do we have quite a few of us meeting up at the terminal? I can't stop thinking about this darn cruise. I keep reading the Navigators and going over the yummy menus!

Very cute pirates, Weirdguy! pirate:

Yes, the yummy food! Cannot wait. :Pinkbounc We want to to NOW!!

OK, I need help with getting a letter together for the admin of the kid's school. She apparently doesn't like any absences. I have already worked out getting the work the kids will miss beforehand from their teachers. We are going to the butterfly farm on St. Maarten so they can report on that. What is a non excursion type thing that I can take them to on St. Thomas that is close to the ship that could be considered educational?

Just think - this time next month we will be at Disney laying around the Poly!! Whooo hooooo!!

Lisa - sorry I don't know, hopefully someone will have some ideas.

On St thomas you can go to Coki Beach, they have an aquarium right at the end of the beach.....we went there in November last year and the beach was cool because you can feed the fish right out of you hands....we brought dog biscuits with us,broke them up and held our hands out and the fish were all over the place, my kids had the best time ever!

Yes, however we have aquariums here & I didn't want to spend $52 on that plus taxi fare. I am guessing that they have a building somewhere in town with historical information. A taxi might just take us to a few points of interest so that we can get a sense of the history of the island too. I will have to check out some more websites.

Hi Lisa;

Here are some of the things we are doing with the girls while we are away, keep in mind our girls are in 1st and 2nd grade so what they are being taught may be different...

1) each girl will have a special "disney" journal that they will write in at the end of each night, we are getting them disposable cameras as well so they can photo document all the cool and interesting things we are going to do (I will take pictures as well so that if they have pictures with fingers in them we have a good copy), that way they can read the journal to their friends and classmates when we get home.

2) each little bug will have her own non digital watch, that way they can keep track of time and let us know when "important" things are going to happen.

3) the girls will each also get a certain amount of money that they have to deal with while we are on land, that way it helps their math skills as they are both working on coins. Work on addition and subtration that way.

4) I'll be taking flash cards for reading and math so that way every day we can work on that when we have spare time.

5) as for excursions...you can do most nature or sightseeing things that are available. Sightseeing can be used for history lessons of different areas, for example the Historic Blackbeards hill would probably have some interesting information and for the nature walks you can look for differnet types of plants, animals, etc. We may just sightsee in the towns a bit unless there is an excursion we really want to go on, that way we save some money too :)

Anyway, I hope some of that helps, talk to the teachers too, they may be able to come up with some good learning tips you can use. Really though the whole trip can be educational (and fun) learning new skills, interacting with different people/cultures, time management (we're going to let the girls each pick an afternoon on land to do something with, hopefully we won't regret that :) ), money skills, etc.

Take care and have a great day, good luck with the letter,

Thanks! I already have DS writing a journal. :)

We got some big news from the dentist today! DS has 2 loose teeth! One is really wiggling so that wont make it another 4 weeks but the second one is just a little loose so Tink might be paying a visit to us on the ship! :)

I'm here lillygator!

And I just booked our hotel at the Radisson for the night before the cruise. Seems like you have to pay a lot for "free" shuttle service

But it was still fun. I can't get my mind off the cruise very long. Its just too fun to think about :rotfl:
