12/09/06 Geeks.... Lost, but not forgotten

I was thinking the same thing, Brandi. I wonder if the price will go down if we wait until their second summer sailing Alaska. I think lots of folks will be booking first day and will drive the price up on those first cruises.

Are any of you guys considering the summer of 2011 Alaskan cruises?

So . . . anyone considering or thinking about a summer date once kids are out of school?

Vanessa? Brandi? Lisa? Carla? Kim? Caroline? Angie or Annette? (OH, I forgot that Dennis and Brack graduated!)

We are definitely looking at June or July 2011. Any August cruises would have to be the first week as we have our annual trip to the mountains of NC later.

Dennis and I are thinking we REALLY want to sail on the new ship. So, probably bag Alaska the first year and sail the new ship in 2011. We are anxious to see what the itineraries are for that one. Alaska 2012 and hoping the excitement and thus the prices come down.

We are looking at the 6/21 cruise John. School will be out and then we could tour the Vancouver area more.

Not interested in traveling to FL for just 3-4 days and the 5 day cruises are going to be expensive again because they are booked for 2010. I will be interested in cruising on the Fantasy when it takes over the 7 day Magic cruises in 2012.

Angie,

We are thinking the same way, but in opposite directions. We think the price and demand of the new ship will be high, and want to wait. LOL. Besides that, we really, really, really want to see Alaska. We think it would be a good break from the cruises we have been on.

Anyone else considering summer 2011 Alaska?

Alaska sounds awesome but the $$$$ is going to be very high.

But almost 2 years to save up! We are actually considering a cat 6 or cat 7 for the verandah again for a cruise like this.

I'll bring back photos of the new deck 10 lounge that will be above Cove Cafe, it is suppose to have floor to ceiling windows, it is being added on the wonder. it will be a wonderful place to see Alaska from.

Testing airfare in June 2010, it is $799 USD from Toronto to Vancouver or $500 from BUF to Vancouver, :confused3:rotfl2::rolleyes: I wonder if they will be doing a shuttle from Seattle, I know that at least one other cruise line does this. BUF to SEA is only $300.

:woohoo: Can't wait!

PJ I got a quote of $105 for the four of us to take Amtrak from Seattle to Vancouver so not too bad IMO. We will be booking for 6/21 Alaska on this coming Monday. You guys are all at least gold, right?

Hmm, Lisa what an interesting option, planes, trains and DCL, should be a cool trip, lol.

Angie/Dennis, are you considering coming to Alaska with us Geeks?

Dennis said "maybe" just now. Oh, decisions. We need to decide by tomorrow morning. I need to check and see if there is a special number us "gold" folks use.

Just found out today we are only one away from platinum (9 so far). Looking at the kids sail free dates in Jan/Feb to make us platinum.

I just went on the Castaway Club site and we are Platinum!!!! :dance3::woohoo: 10 done and one booked. So, I guess we will all be on the phone and on DCL website tomorrow morning to book 6/21......right?

I know a bunch of us booked 7/26/11. Did anyone book any other date?

It has been a long day, and a long weekend for me.

For those not on Facebook . . .

I have not been feeling well lately, short of breath, fatigued, and also uncharacteristically impatient for me. I have never felt like this before in my life, as I huff and puff up steps.

So, last Monday I had a stress test, and Amy had stress worrying. The stress test came back normal - 66% ejection fraction - normal is 55% to 70% - so the heart is good.

Next, they did bloodwork (did not post this on Facebook) but my hemoglobin is down to 7.4. Normal for a man is 14-17. So, as my doctor said, I am running on half a tank. Now they need to find out why, and Amy is stressed again. Sometime real soon I will have a colonoscopy (had one 16 months ago that was normal) and an upper GI to check for ulcers.

Until then, she (Dr.) does not want to give me iron. So, I am still weak and irritable, but dreaming of an Alaska Disney Cruise takes some of the edge off.

John1, sorry to hear you are not up to snuff, but glad to hear the heart is ok. Those symptoms are certainly scary for that. We will add you to our prayer list. Please let us know how the tests all come out. We love you and think of you all often.
